The year's about to come to an end and as we look back at some of the cool happenings in MPQ during 2024, we also wanted to share some of the new things we've been at work on in our 2025 MPQ Roadmap blog!

Probably things like player titles and custom name backgrounds etc. Things that other players see when they look at you or your profile that are usually customized / chosen by you.
A lot of multiplayer games have these: Overwatch lets you unlock titles and and backgrounds for your player name, Tekken lets you change your health bar and player titles, League of Legends has multiple, icons etc.
Imagine your favorite character is DareDevil (hypothetical, no one would actually choose DD) and you wanted to showcase that, they could put a little character icon next to your name in the game to show that "flair". These are one of the main ways devs can implement content for sale or to drive player progression, without making it feel so "pay to win".
That's my guess anyway.

Can I just say that I loved your guide, and referenced it many times after I came back from break? How was I supposed to know he was your favorite character!?

Weird that their, All new cover exchange sysytem was not highlighted in the blog post. What is the latest on this?

All sounds pretty good.
I’m not going to use the Cover Exchange because why should I pay HP in addition to a cover for a cover?
Especially since it costs 100 - 200 for a random cover.
Should be a 1-to-1 exchange or a x-to-one like the Ascension needs.

The 1/2/3 PVEs will kill some players who can’t just use the same characters ALL THE TIME!

Would be interesting to mix it up, but you will hear complaints about it being against the spirit of ascension if those characters are locked out and meaningless if they aren't locked out since they'll just end up being three 5*s anyway.

To this point, surely it would be "originally one star". There's no way I'm bringing a genuine one star for some jabroni to curb stomp

My only concern is that I play on my Kindle Fire - will that remain a supported device when the new UI is implemented?

We used to get off season PVP with 4/3/2 restrictions and 2 v 2 like every other season. They did hint at rollout for ascension that this would allow them to make content with specific ascension tier requirements if they chose, so it’s possible this is that. I wouldn’t be mad at it even though I don’t have any fully built 1* on roster at the moment since I assume it would have a loaner.

I’m interested to hear if the Unity decision over something like Godot was made before or after Unity’s wild pricing model decision was announced.

Thank you for listening and actually putting a article out. Can't wait to see some of these changes come to life (and I know your team can't either).
Just because I'm super curious, you often talk about how painful it is to do something like create a new PVE in the old engine. Can you just give some kind of example of the hoops you would have to jump through to make that happen? I just really am curious what makes things like that so impossible, there must be some constraint that is beyond just writing the code for the event and I just am always super interested by things like that. (Obviously they are choices made 11-12 years ago by a totally different dev team)
