I don't get it, why bring back old events with old issues like regular game freezes?! We were having so much fun without all these games crashing for no apparent reasons :(

The freezes are particularly unfortunate. There's a freeze occurring at the moment that you'd think would be unlikely in RotGP as it requires both a Ward creature to be in play, and a card which cannot have it's mana drained in a player's hand.

    Unfortunately

    • Webcore have added 2 Ward creatures to the decks in this new version of RotGP, and
    • Blue Sun's Zenith is extremely common in Legacy, and like all X spells cannot have it's mana drained

    Regarding end of the event:
Based on the current life and time this event will end like a normal event does. Maybe a little earlier

@naabaldan - how did you come to that conclusion? And do you mean that we will achieve the hollyversary goal?

It’s nice to at least know what the issue is. Hopefully someone will benefit from this.

We are at 21% I can’t see that we are going to make that in the last 12-13 hours

Update - 10% with 6 hours to go.

We are at 4% now, 3 hours left
    Calculation is like this:
Time consumend (tc) equals 100 minus current % (p), rest time (rt) equals current % (rp)...
    Tc/p = rt/rp or rt = tc*rp/p
    42×4/96= 1,75 hours left
This assumes a nearly linear amount of points made per hour as an average ocer time. Very simplified. But good enough for a hint.

Well, I’m not too proud to admit that I was wrong about there being too much HP. Still, I wonder how much earlier it would have ended if there hadn’t been so many freezes? I wonder if everyone who wanted to play hit a chance to play?

Now that RotGP is over, on the issue of Webcore calibrating the Boss Health so that there is a chance that the player base can end the event early without making it easy for the player base to do so, it turns out that WC did a good job. The event ended just a titch early (I believe around 1-2 hours).

On this issue, nicely done WC.

It's certainly better to have all charges up front in this event than the old system of never really knowing which charge is going to be the last charge, requiring some players to set their alarm clocks for the middle of the night to check if they need to immediately play a final round of games or not.

Still, I felt like I had to play all my games at midnight when the event started. I'd have looked a proper charlie, wouldn't I, if the reason I took myself out of the running on Larz' player of the year leaderboard is that I thought an event which has frequently ended at inconvenient times in the past probably wouldn't end before I'd had a good night's sleep.

And I know, with hindsight, that didn't happen, but it's hardly unheard of to assume that a coalition event might have a major issue: in fact this one did, the Ward bug hit a considerable number of players and froze their games.

So I gotta ask again: Is it worth it? Webcore had to do extra monitoring of the event, basically to make it end around when the timer would have ended it anyway...

After this event, I can't help but wonder again if Webcore is even aware of the fact that there's a competition going on here. I heavily dislike that cards have been added without being seemingly tested, causing crashes for players. This event awards a lot of points for each match, so a freeze of the game hurts even more than usual. This event was probably the only shot our team had to beat YouHave1Job, but the many freezes robbed us of that chance. As long as our coalition events have issues, it's nothing more than a gamble, a false sense of competition.

I agree with @Janosik that having all the charges up front is just about the only positive thing this event brought forward. Not having to setting an alarm for a midnight refresh is a very big plus. Still, my disappointment in Webcore is real.

Ok so, we had LOTS of criticism of this event before, but it ran well (outside of the bug issue)...

Ok, let me clarify... We talked **** about the life total concerns, but turns out that was fine.

    Well done WC.

Thanks for making a fun event (you know, MINUS the freezes) but hey... the next one will be perfect. ;)

Have a great holiday @Magic:PQ Support Team !

If the thing you liked about the event is that it ended at around the same time a timed event would have ended, then I expect you wouldn't mind it it became an entirely timed event with no HP mechanic ^_^

We need to keep the health so that we can use it to determine if we get the extra rewards Though even that's a little pointless because there no real way for us to do significantly more damage to the health bar since it's a limited number of charges. That makes it more about how well can they guess a number that's slightly below how much damage we'd normally do and set the boss health total to that than anything we can control. That's fine though because they already have control over what bonuses they give us anyway so if having a boss health bar makes the event more fun for some people I'm okay with it as long as the event ends at a scheduled time regardless of what the boss health does.

Which rewards are you talking of? The 8(!!) crystal reduction for the Hydra event? Or the same reduction for the other paid event that ran? Well great! That will offset the lesser reduction they implemented for dual color planeswalkers or not running ToTP for half entry fee for a least two weeks, something that they've done for years.
