Are you counting Aunt May as a spider person? That seems like a stretch. I guess 2* Nightcrawler is, technically. Who else? Is the request "no more characters from Spiderman comics ever?"Spider-verse characters. They occupy around 10% of the games characters, and that's not even counting the sinister six characters or other spiderman related villains.
**edit
Not a request for them never adding them ever, but there is a lot of spiderman fatigue here.
I don't want to point out characters to add instead because we can run off characters for hours.
We got a lot of mutants and spider adjacent characters, I would just like them to move outside that bubble in a meaningful way.0 -

And here is Kid Venom! What about future Symbiotes?

I can see a 5-Star Symbiote Spider-Man 2099 & a 3-Star Venom 2099.

Silly thread, game is fulll of spiders BECAUSE it IS MARVEL Puzzle Quest.
This thread is like specifically buying a Ford pony car every year and then complaining that they are always Mustangs
I trust these posters are also littering DC game forums with complaints about Superman and Batman people.

I find crunching numbers exposes facts to the harsh light of reality, one way or another. I looked at all the characters introduced since the beginning of 2022, since that's a decent time frame, and looked over for what "area" of the Marvel Universe they're in. I'll put the full list behind a spoiler tag.
Doc Ock (No Way Home)
Abigail Brand (Commander of SWORD)
Melinda May (Agent of SHIELD)
Elektra (Woman without Fear)
Rhino (Classic)
Crystal (Crystalia Amaquelin)
Gertrude Yorkes (Runaways)
Moon Knight (Avatar of Khonshu)
Black Knight (Dane Whitman)
Gargantos (Multiverse of Madness)
Puck (Eugene Judd)
Kamala Khan (Origin)
Hulkling (Dorrek VII)
Thor (Mighty Thor)
Gorr (The God Butcher)
Chasm (Ben Reilly)
Spider-Man (Oscorp)
She-Hulk (Origin)
She-Hulk (Immortal)
Reptil (Humberto Lopez)
Emma Frost (New X-Men)
Emma Frost (Phoenix Five)
Doop (Green One)
Arcade (Edward Acra)
Deathlok (Michael Collins)
Riri Williams (Ironheart 3.0)
Namora (Origin)
Hit Monkey (E.D.I. Suit)
Abomination (Emil Blonsky)
Wong (Sorcerer Supreme)
Colleen Wing (Heroes for Hire)
Kang (The Conqueror)
M'Baku (Jabari Chieftain)
Magik (Phoenix Five)
Clea (Sorcerer Supreme)
Jeffrey (Symbiote)
Human Torch (Annihlus)
High Evolutionary (AM v3)
Cosmo (Space Dog)
Spider-Gwen (Gwenom)
Moondragon (Heather Douglas)
Venomsaurus Rex (Brockiosaurus)
Silver Samurai (Kenuichio Harada)
Omega Red (Horseman of Pestilence)
Mister Negative (Martin Li)
Vulture (Armor Wars)
Penni Parker (Spider-Bot BFF)
Miles Morales (Carnage Symbiote)
Doctor Bong (Lester Verde)
Peggy Carter (Worthy)
Spider-Man: India (Spider-Verse)
Goose (Flerken Family)
Moon Girl/Devil D (Marvel Now)
The Hunter (Midnight Suns)
Multiple Man (Jamie Madrox)
X-23 (Weapon Hex)
Angela (Aldrif Odinsdottir)
Victor Mancha (Victorious)
Nightcrawler (Uncanny Spider-Man)
Phyla-Vell (Martyr)
Black King (Sebastian Shaw)
Aunt May (Golden Oldie)
Doctor Doom (Infamous IM)
Jubilee (Phoenix Force)This is based on my roster and I haven't added Spider-Girl yet since they haven't given details. I marked out all "Spider-Verse" characters, all "X-Men area of the 616" characters, and all "Avengers" area -- the last was a bit tricky since I'm not sure who fits and who doesn't. I'm also only counting one "time" out of the 3/5 releases.
So out of these 65 characters, 13 were "Spider-Verse" 12 were "X-Men related" and 7 were "Avengers related." We can bump the first up to 14. Is that really a lot? It is definitely the highest amount by two, and there hasn't really been more Spider-Verse material out there as opposed to others. Heck, if we're looking at movies and TV there's actually been a dearth of X-Men related material in the same time period (just X-Men '97 as far as I can recall.) Still, X-Men stuff is only really trailing by 2, so I don't know.
If we're just counting variants of Peter Parker there are 4 characters in the same time period (technically 3 1/2 since only half of the Venomsaurus/Pter Parker release is Peter.) That strikes me as excessive, sure. Still, if we count the Spider-Verse as a discreet part of the 616/MCU while it has gotten the most representation these last two years, is it really too much? I dunno, probably not for me, but for others, sure.

2* Electro if we're counting Mr Negative. I think people would not complain as much if there were more diversity among the spiderverse characters. As in, more villians, less variants, etc.

But, this also just kind of proves the point.
If there were more Spider adjacent characters (more street level villains ie shared with Daredevil) it would look less on the nose.
Just making everyone a symbiote and then choosing weird spiderman skinned characters just feels tired now.0 -
I think most people on here have never read an actual comic book, or at least haven't read one in the last 30 or so years, and their only Marvel experience is the big MCU stuff, the older Fox X-Men movies, and the X-Men TV show from the 90s.
It's Marvel Puzzle Quest, not "nostalgia for middle-aged 90s kids Puzzle Quest." Witness the bizarre hype around Omega Red.

I'm still waiting for Captain Britain. He did fight Spiderman once, you know. But really, we need some Excaliber
3 -
Oh yeah, we need The Trapster/ Paste Pot Pete and Cosmic Spiderman

Of course it is, why else would they give us omega red, edgier omega red, and bazillion pockets Cable costume. 90's Max to the extreme puzzle quest!

If there was capacity to go all-in on offering skins, the devs could clean-up offering multiple versions of main characters (Marvel Heroes somewhat did this (RIP, Marvel Heroes)), or even to reskin characters to other characters (would also need to include renaming in various text blurbs), allowing each player to personalize their own versions of the game. Make mine Bronze-gilt, Silver Age Marvel PQ. Flush all this '90s and later **** LOL

Like, people flipped out about the Dinosaur Spidermans -- those characters were the leads in Marvel Comics' top-selling title for months!
Folks don't have to like it, but Marvel is bigger than whatever stuff you remember from when you specifically were a kid. Moon Girl is a popular current kids' series! There are adults now that have zero attachment to any of the 90s characters we grew up with.

I think with things like Marvel Unlimited it is far more likely that people are reading the older comic books rather than collecting the monthly singles any more which are far too expensive. So a bit of both.

And when they give us these guys (and they will), a bunch of people will complain that they give us nothing but silly joke characters, and why haven't they given us Major Important Marvel villains like Toad and Avalanche and Sauron?

Did they? Flipped out? I think it was more a rolling of eyes no?
Anyway - Marvel 100% trades on nostalgia as does any company pushing decades old content. They want it both ways and who can blame them? X-Men 97 is the perfect example - there is no originality to the 1st season leaning on classic 80s and 90s audiences but reimagined for also an audience that didn't experience it first time round and are thinking they are seeing new content. Marvel wants it all!

I need to go back and read the thread, but I think there were some pretty weird, angry reactions to those guys. Maybe I'm misremembering though.
