I really doubt the devs get as much say as you think they do when it comes to new characters. I’m sure Marvel really pushed for new Spider-Man characters to be released given so many Spider-Man projects have been released this year.

Strangely enough this was the only one of the 3 movies with any 'new' content in it. The other 2 just rehashed 2 the original trilogy.

Myself, I enjoyed the 2nd movie minus all the wasted time spent with Luke.

Yup, it had new content, and critics loved it for that reason. but newness isn't goodness. And this is a terrible movie; it fails on its own terms (is self sacrifice good/noble, or bad/futile? This movie doesn't know!), AND is a even worse as the penultimate installment of a franchise because ignores existing Canon AND torches the barely sketched world of the ST to the ground leaving nothing for EP IX.

Even worse, much of the criticism of this terrible movie is entirely misguided and focuses on **** like '"it's too woke." Which has nothing to do with the reasons that this movie sucks. Grrrrrrrrr.

Anyway. What were we talking about? Across the spider-verse was a very solid example of a good movie that is also a good entry into a franchise. spider-man India was fun in that movie and I'm glad to see him in MPQ.

I always got the impression that was the whole point. Each viewer decides for themselves whether it's good/bad and worth it or not. That's why they show multiple characters making self sacrifices.

I thought the reason people hated it was because those of us old enough to have seen the first 3 movies when they came out had waited 30+ years to see Luke be a Jedi only to find out that he didn't want to be one anymore and so felt cheated of seeing Luke be a Jedi. That's why he got his CGI appearance in the Mandalorian in season 1 and why we are getting the Ahsoka series.

Anyway. What were we talking about? Across the spider-verse was a very solid example of a good movie that is also a good entry into a franchise. spider-man India was fun in that movie and I'm glad to see him in MPQ.

My daughter and I both really enjoyed both of Mile's movies. She especially likes how the art style changes in the 2nd movie based on the various worlds and we look forward to the final installment.

In case anyone hasn't seen the 2nd movie yet, it's on Netflix now.

Prequels were trash because the writing sucked.

Spider verse is great because the writing doesn't suck.

SM:I looks to be, at least, a decent character in game and was for sure a highlight of spider verse showing that every version of a character doesn't need to look the same in a multiverse.

TLJ is an excellent film.

As far as the Spidey-verse goes, I just want one viable 5* web tile team that can take on the meta teams. Littering the 4* tier with Spiders doesn't do that for me. But no 4* release tips the balance these days. Maybe if they ever get around to the punk rock Spidey, he will be 5*.

There was nothing excellent about TLJ.
Some of the performances were fine, but the writing was objectively bad.

I truly do not understand calling it excellent. I'm tempted to watch it again to detail all the things terrible about it... But then I'd need to watch it again and that would only punish me.

Otherwise...I hope you get your viable spider team... It's weird the isn't one to be honest.

At this point does anyone even care about new movies anymore?

Series is where it's at and is the future of Star Wars. Better storytelling on bigger canvas's. Its weird to realize now, but Boba Fett has more Star Wars screen time than Luke Skywalker and he was a literal 2 minute throwaway character in the original trilogy.
