D3P: punisher of the 3* rosters

  • well I am having a hell of a time, not fun at all in PVP. It's getting worse every event. I feel like despite the strength of my roster, I just cannot compete. It has taken me every heal and rotating several toon combos in to try and get just to 400 points. Pushing to top 10 seems out of the question. I don't understand how they expect us to be able to play with it like this. Facing full teams from the start, not getting enough points per win for the matches I can win to move up enough. Even if I had double the heal packs it would not help much. I am at a point where literally every matchup is one I could easily wipe on. I just don't know how to continue in PVP right now.

How am I supposed to help my alliance win? How am I supposed to compete in PVP anymore when it seems I am constantly matched up vs teams that can easily wipe my own?

This is currently how my view of the devs and the way the game is shaping -

  • this is officially the least fun I have ever had playing a game. I got my team in the pvp up to 500 points, i have 2 141s on my roster (lthor and punisher)
my panther is not maxed but he's like 77 or so.

I had to burn every heal every few hours just to try and beat what I was matched with. I burnt tons of iso skiping to try to find matchups I had a chance to win.
Every match I was on edge of being wiped even ones I won, I had 2 dead toons and one very hurt one.

I did not find this fun and I could not even make top 100 in my bracket.

either this changes, or I'm done with PVP in this game, period.

No amount of money poured into heals, buffs etc would have helped either, so I don't even feel trying to pay to win would help.

That is not how I think any game should make it's players feel for prorgressing in the game. I want a D3P response to this, please someone tell me how I can have fun playing this game again. Please tell me you know this is a problem and it is being worked on, or for some reason maybe you want those of us who have done well playing your game daily for the past few months to just quit and say bye to the game because you don't care about us.

That is how I feel right now, that for whatever reason the game is broken and I am not getting a feeling it's going to be fixed, so change my mind on that. Please.

Just FYI, I think more than one dev has stated that they will categorically not respond to any explicit requests for dev response.

As for the rest, have you tried LT OBW or Punpun OBW instead of LT Punpun? LT Punpun seems to me like a bit of a strange pairing: they share green as their strongest color, have highly overlapping color strengths, and the AI will probably use Judgment far more than CTS. OBW's AP steal helps accelerate LT a good bit (speed/AP expense is LT's greatest/only weakness), and her heal is pretty useful for mitigating mid-strength ability damage. I sometimes pair LT with OBW instead of my other 141s during shieldhops because OBW shortens LT fights, and if I'm shieldhopping, I don't care a whit about defense.
  • Yes, I often use LT/OBW/Featured or Pun/OBW/featured.

I often will only rotate in the two 141s in teh same fights at the end or if I want to take a break and leave them as my "defense" team hoping featured plus 2 141s would get attacked less and not have to waste as much HP to shield on the grind up while waiting on health pack regens, etc.

Just because those are my two 141s does not mean that's what I roll with. I like having options, and those 2 were the toons I got the covers for first and put the iso into them as I got it. now I feel like I should have not gotten either of them to 141 and I am being penalized for having 141s and actually enjoyed the game more when I felt I had a chance to get 900-1100 ish points per PVP event and now I put in 3x the time and struggle to get to 500 or 600 ish points.

Feels wrong, what game would make it harder for you to be as productive as you make your team better? I should be able to be more helpful to my alliance, but I feel I'm a wasted roster spot at this point. barely covering our set minimum per pvp event.

PVE I'm fine, usually #1 or @2 in our alliance for event totals.

This sounds exactly like my roster. Thor and Punisher are my 141's and I use one of them with OBW and the featured a lot. I've placed top 10 in pretty much every PVP since I got a 141, clearing 900 every time. (except for one when I thought I was going to play late but something came up)

Maybe there's little things you can do to improve in strategy? Basically, focus on purple, then blue. Watch the enemy's AP carefully and deny or recon so they can't get any abilities off. Use your abilities as they come up, and heal before you kill the last one. Rinse and repeat. I think the main thing most don't do though is to analyze the board carefully before even getting started. Deny what would let them get an ability off. And after the first couple rounds, you basically dictate what colors the AI takes (save for tiles dropped into cascades from the top).

In general, this lets me play endlessly, save for a couple bad cascaded matchges in a row which wipes my health packs. But that only happens about once every 5 events or so.

It's not just Sauron, but many others in my alliance who rushed 141's are getting hit with a new MMR death stick. Instead of competing with new 141's they are forced to compete with players who have full 141 rosters. They are having problems getting our minimum point requirement of 400.

This system is obviously devastating to those attempting the 3* transition and promotes quitting. A returning customer is worth more than new customers, so I am not sure why they are insisting on ravaging their dedicated customer base. My alliance helped my members like Sauron finally attain their shiny new 141 roster, now I have to watch them get slapped in the face by an unforgiving system. I have already lost players to this system, and how many more will I have to continue to replace until the developers wake up?

Sometimes I wonder if this isn't (partially) the fault of prologue healing.

If you are a transitional player (2*-3*) you're most likely going to ride your best two 3* characters all the time in PvP. Never subbing them out with your 2* in the fear of getting a lot of counterattacks. So, you will keep that twosome healed up all the time in an effort to make your runs, then possibly shield when done.

If everyone is doing the same, it's going to look like everyone has lvl 121-141's to the newer transitional player.
The prologue healing isn't, or at least shouldn't be, at fault. What is at fault is the the fact they have tied healing to scaling. Since leaving a match fully healed can be done only with hero abilities, it's like the devs are saying
"Here is OBW and Spiderman (R.I.P) who can help you fight for a little longer so feel free to buy their covers and level them." And they continue with smaller letters. "However, if you decide to use them, know that your scaling will get out of control so use them at your own risk."
  • I'm in a similar spot, but maybe slightly better off. I don't have 141's, but I do have Pun at LV 110 and LT at LV 90. I am facing stronger teams, but not full on crazy difficult teams until I hit around 400-500. I am running OBW, but it's definitely getting old. I can reach 400 only by skipping and fighting the occasional easier team, such as OBW/IM40/featured. Sometimes I luck out and see 2* teams, but they are few and far between.

I do hope they change things because I loathe PVP now and haven't broken top 50 for at least 3 tournaments. Thankfully PVE is manageable even if the changes the devs have made are taking some getting used to.

I feel like I'm progressing at a glacial pace and unlike before when I ended up buying two covers for OBW to speed things along, I don't feel like buying covers would help anything because I don't have the ISO to level my 3*'s to either max level or at least over 100.

Haven't hit this wall yet but I'm nearing it. Haven't taken anything past 97 yet until I get a solid team together. I'm still missing a covered tank or dps. The reason I stopped at 97 is because that happens to be the level that 3* are on par with 85 2* in terms of match damage. I'm expecting things to change as soon as they hit 100.
