I miss the days where Versus tournaments had some sense...

  • I have all covers for my punisher and have enough to level up to 141. The reason why I don't want to yet is because of the PvE. People are saying that they have 300+ guys. One 141 punisher is not going to do a thing against 300+ chars. So now I'm stuck with either tough out the PvP or struggle in PvE. I rather struggle in PvP because they release new characters through PvE. So I guess I can't really complain... but the system is still broken!

You're looking at it from the wrong perspective. Scaling differs for everyone, so just because they see level 300 enemies doesn't mean you will. Heck, I have 150s at maximum in this current event. Most of my nodes are 80-110.

And having at least one 141 is extremely helpful. I've found that once you get one 141, it gets easier to level more.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Up until a few weeks ago, I was regularly scoring 800-900 pts in PVP, which was usually enough to get me top 10 if I really tried. Then season 1 started, and suddenly the same scores were barely landing me in the top 30. Then bracketing changed, and the level of all my opposing teams went way up. Then the attacks started coming earlier and earlier. The last three events, I kept facing maxed-out Lazy Thors and Punishers ( my highest *** is a lvl 128 Lazy Cap) and getting attacked regularly by the time I hit 400. I barely managed to score near in the 600s and hang on to top 50. Then, in the Sentry event, I clawed my way to 655, then shielded with 3 hours to go because I was being hit for 30-40 points every few seconds. In those last three hours, I fell from 23rd to 51st while shielded. So far, it doesn't look like I'll do any better in Cage Match -- it's Lazy Thors and Punishers all over again, with CMags thrown in for good measure.

Personally, I think D3P is shooting themselves in the foot with this one. I used to spend quite a lot of HP on shields back when I was regularly pushing for top 10. But when a shield won't even guarantee me top 50, why should I bother?

Yeah this is a pretty good summary. I too have a 128 LCap as my highest. I also barely clawed my way to 600ish in the sentry event, only to finish outside of the top 50 for a MHawkeye cover. I cannot compete in cage match, or even shield training. I'm now trying to find a patch under 200, paired with a OBW and a 141, usually punisher. This is my ideal team to face off with, with my lvl 41 patch (62 boosted!), OBW and 128 LCap. 3 or 4 wins (hopefully) before I have to wait for health packs, during which time I probably lose half the points I gained.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I have spent hundreds if not thousands of ISO skipping loaded teams just to find this "ideal" team - which still over levels me. Have not seen a team my level or below At ALL.

You shouldn't be afraid of scaling, scaling occurs for players of all levels if they grind too much (e.g. grind down every node to 1, shoot for top placement in SUBS for silly tokens, heal extensively while playing PvE, etc.). If you play once-twice per day, your scaling should stay normal, not to mention that maxed 3*s are that much more effective in taking down opposition.
It takes a billion iso to level a character up to 141, does having a maxed out character really make that big of a difference?
A level 100 3* character is equivalent in stats (tile damage) to a level 85 2* character, so using that as a baseline, here are some numbers for you (based off of Punisher's stats):
Level 100->120 results in a 15% damage increase and a 20% health increase.
Level 100->141 results in a 30% damage increase and a 40% health increase.
    From Polarity's guide viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3939

I have 5x 141s and my highest level in the current sub is 160 in Hard, and that's Sim 04 with the 2k iso prize, so it needs to be hard.

Edit: I think that the players who mostly encounter this can max their 3*s or soft-cap them at 102/128 at least but haven't yet done so.
    Bingo.

I have Punisher at 103 (on his was to capping at 115) and Psyduck at 102 and this is exactly what I'm seeing. But I'm also seeing a lot of very similar teams too so I still do alright even if it is an uphill struggle beyond about 300 points in every event.

I'd like to hear from 85 players whether they encounter 3x 141 (or at least 2x 141) teams right from the start, what stage their 3*s are at.
If a player has a fully covered top 3* character like Punisher and doesn't level the character for reasons unknown and wants to keep playing in the 2* land forever, perhaps the game has failsafe mechanics to prevent that.
Our alliance founder used to have every character covered or close to that, but his only maxed characters were 2*s and not all of them. His reasoning included scaling, too, which was silly really as he usually only joined PvE events at the very end and didn't grind.
Eventually he started leveling 3*s though and even maxed a few, but he got fed up with the 2x 141 opposition in PvP anyway.

    1. Possibly this is a gentle nudge by Demiurge so that players don't stay in the ** land forever.
    2. Tanking still works to a certain extent. If it is not working you're doing it wrongly
    3. Don't be afraid of using healthpacks. If you keep abusing OBW/Spidey heals in Prologue or within matches then you'll most likely see more 141s.
  • hey locked I like to share some info in the last 2-3 pvp.. I saw a lot of 2x85 having 800-950 pts thus my guess is they are not seeing 3x141?
  • With the next wolverine event, I'm getting a lot of these because everyone has a high level wolverine but me. I'm using a lvl 30 wolverine, 115 punisher and 85 OBW

    http://bayimg.com/GaOcCAaFi

I think I'm going to be skipping this event. Can't handle things like this.

Patch and LThor are my two highest team members since I probably spread my ISO to thin for most peoples liking - 12 characters of lvl 80 or more. Also that screenshot must have been in the first 45 minutes of the event since after the seed teams ran out I have had a tank team up. Currently in my top 10 some with an 85 OBW/MnThor and no patch at all sitting on 721 points so no everyone in 2* land is seeing wall to wall max teams. However all the other 9 have multiple lvl 100+ characters.

I would be interesting to know how many new max lvl 141 are finished each week because as time goes by more and more people will be running teams of them.
  • My friend has 6 maxed lvl 85. She sees no lvl 141s. What's even worse is that she sees lvl 60s 30% of the time. That's much better than my 141 90% of the time. This is why lvl 85s are all at the top. 85 vs 85 usually means an easy win, especially when it's against thor and OBW.

I see them too, usually from 700 and all the way to 900. What interests me is whether they have enough 3* covers to max a 3*.

Well, look at their rosters before mercilessly slaughtering them, then.

Do you suggest that I skip away hundreds of Iso whenever the game offers a 2* opponent? Pay my skip taxes then. Sometimes I do skip 2*s when pressed for time and looking for points, not an easy match.
And it's not my POV that matters, but theirs. Do they see us without getting attacked?

what? I meant you should check their rosters when you want to know whether they got fully covered but under levelled 3*.
No need to go ballistic on me.
Of course you'll hit them, why wouldn't you?
    touchy, are we?

No, just tossing the ball. Not liking taxes, are we?
I already said that it's their POV that matters. Who cares if 3*s see them, it doesn't mean it works both ways, does it? For example I never ever see Slobofix in my nodes, although today I had a chance to retal after their attack. They see me, I don't see them.

You said you're interested in whether they have covers for their 3*s in the post I was quoting.

The reason you don't see Slobo is because she's shielded 90% of the time. I get her in my nodes past 900 just fine - if she's unshielded.

But I am not interested in 2*s that I see, I am interested in 2*s that see me and other 3* players (not vice versa).

As for Slobofix: oh yeah, also that. 90% of the time sounds pretty crazy but people do spend thousands on MPQ, so...
  • I agree with most of the things said here

    - The change was sudden, from one day to the another, suddenly seeing 50% of 141 teams and skipping a lot and not even on high levels, just during the play, sometimes at the start, i always need aroudn 500iso just to be sure i can skip them
    - In defense its worse, if i'm attacked 5 times, i can only get a revenge match in 2 of them with luck

The other thing i notice is that having 85s team i never see lower enemies, sometimes one 75 OBW as much, but it seems that luck is reserved to 141 players
It just seems D3 tells me "you have chances at 141? i'll change your game completely so you either rush to get them and pay for a change or suck for weeks until you change it"
  • Talk about quick changes again, I took my Punisher to 100, my BP is buffed to 110 in his event so along OBW i'm around 500 and i have only been attacked 3-4 times in the last 12 hours (Last tournament i was -200 over night from all 141 teams)
Guess the idea is "Play with your 3*!" so here i am, farming for iso
Still I lost like like 2 weeks of tournaments stuck on this, but heading to the light now
I would suggest everyone to move on in the same way if its your case
