    I keep maxed 266 for every 3 star just because I have the HP to easily do so.  I don't think you really need to do so for any reason if you are well into 4 and 5* metas.  In rare events like the recent combined arms PvP, maxed boosted 3* can be helpful but those events are rare.

    As someone (intentionally) remaining in the 4* MMR, the max-champ 3s still play a role for me.
    That being the case I roster a dupe and don't flip the max-champ until I have 101 Saved Covers/Shards on the dupe.
    That way I am never without a max-champ at my disposal. Besides it's really fun to collect 100 champ rewards all at the same time.
    I'm about 75% through my first rotation of this approach and by simply shargetting the highest dupe I am flipping a 3* about every 2 weeks. For a stretch there it was closer to every week, but now my highests are starting further and further away from 101.

    Well, I think you said it yourself that you changed your play style and are now not seeing an increase in your hp. By stopping at 500 in pvp you're missing out on 160 hp every event as well as a lot of shards and tokens which will give you a boost in champ rewards, like more hp. So, you might try playing to 1,000 for the next week and see if there's a big difference in the amount of hp that you generate.

    @dramatist At the very least they should change how they do team-ups and make all team-up powers level 5.

    IIRC, they did make it so that any champed team-ups you send to your alliance are level 5.
    This doesn't affect team-ups you receive from winning matches.  I had suggested a long time ago that when we defeat enemies that are over-leveled, we should receive the champed version of their team-ups.

    I've been ruthless for a long time flipping my 3*s as soon as they hit 266. They are keys to unlock nodes and then reward factories, not useful contributors to any of my matches. So I have a single 1* on roster, all 2*s on roster but generally just a random 3 champed until they flip, then i champ whichever is closest to 50 saved covers. I have one of every 3* in various states of disrepair, and then all the 4*s champed save hydra stomper who is most recently released. I have just one 370 4*, Chavez, who has an incomplete dupe I'm building up through organic pulls, though I have a few more that I force-fed up chasing 5*s who are above 360 and likely to hit maximum at some point here. And then I have one of every 5* rostered save Ultron who is only just released. So just 239 roster slots for me right now.

    I started doing pretty much the same thing. For a while, I kept my champed 3s and 2s until a dupe was ready to be champed but in (mostly) 5* play, I found them to rarely matter. Sold all the dupes and now I still have 18 empty slots and 30k+ HP. I sell the max champ as soon as I have one cover to start a replacement.

    The only time I missed them was the recent combined arms PvP.

    When I get a 3* around 260 I set them as a favorite for shard & will keep them that way until I hit 3600 shards. I'll let covers roll in naturally until they hit 266 & when the next cover comes that would be wasted, I sell the max champ, roster the new cover in their place, and drop all the shards to champ them again. Occasionally I'll get a back log of multiple unchamped, but I'll keep the highest a favorite until I get them back to 13 & then work on the next. 

    Admittedly, I don't play pvp very hard anymore & stop at 500 unless I just have a lot of spare time. It doesn't really slow me down too much, I still roster every new 5*, champ the good ones, and usually champ the new 4* by their 3rd rotation if not sooner. Currently sitting on about 240 slots, and the only dupes are the 3x2* I always use for Deadpool.

    I have been thinking about this also recently.
    I have the entire 4* tier champed also save Loki, Worthy Cap, Lizard and Spider-Ham (all fully covered awaiting Iso) and Hydra Stomper. I could sell a bunch of my maxed 3's and finish that tier off and it is quite tempting to do so as I have quite a lot of dupes also making their way up the 3* champing ladder. The only thing that can be nice is if you do have a max and a dupe non max champ and your max takes a bit of a battering as a PvP essential you can swap them out and not need a health pack. I guess some additional HP for Anniversary might be good too.
