Duplicate 3 stars

Curious what everyone is doing now with how the game has moved on in recent years. I have 300 plus roster slots. Since hitting 300 I spend all the HP on roster slots, I’m at a stalemate.

The general wisdom used to be to keep the max champed 3 but I’m at the point I’m not sure it’s even worth it. There’s quite a bit of 4 star pvp and in my mmr im not sure anyone cares about your 266 or 166.

Thinking of  clearing out my 3 star dupes and having two more years of 1000 Hp roster slots. Anyone else done or considered this?

I was worried about pvps if I sold my max champed 3* too. In the end, I pulled the trigger and sold almost all my max champed 3* for iso-8. I'm largely left with non-max champed 3* with varying levels.  I'm still hitting 1200 within 20 wins or so.

It all depends who you are using and what SCL PVE you are. For example, for me, a 5* transitioner and a Wasp fan its important to keep them maxed for PVP. It really helps and I wish I kept all of the ones I flipped so far. But for someone who uses meta its not a problem.
Generally speaking, keep all of them as high as possible and flip them as soon as dupe is 13 covers and have desirable number of covers saved. It does not requires full extra set of slots. A Certain youtuber did that for years and he just recently had to buy 1st 300+slot. For like 2-3 years and when he needed a slot he frequently was selling a maxed 3*.

I found the first three tiers to be useless stepping stones and I only have 140 roster spots (60-50-22-5-3). Not a farmer, collectionist, nor placement seeker. Just enjoy match 3 strategy.

I was planning on selling them once I got a champed duplicate but I rarely collect new 5* characters and have more than enough HP for new characters. So they collect dust waiting for their PvP or I need the spot they’re taking. Once they’re all champed I will treat them like my 2* and just cycle them when I have 2 max and a new one on the vine.

I sell my 3* max champs immediately.
I’ll use a loaner in PvP if they are underlevelled.
My 4* roster is developed enough that I don’t need champed 2* (besides my ddp 3) or champed 3*s. If I run into 3 low levels toss a whale team up and I’m fine

I'm in the same position as you having just reached 300 slots a month or so ago.
So far I've decided to keep mine. I'm still slightly HP positive but that may be because I am a VIP and you might not be or maybe you spend a lot more on shields than I do (I typically use 1 per PvP).
I'm waiting for another of those legendary roster slot sales and hoping we get one for anniversary :o

i'm in the process of using my dupe 3 slots for new characters. when you're firmly in 5* land all you need is a 3* with at least 1 cover. or use the loaner. no point in keeping a champed 3* + an extra slot for a farmer.

Yeah made the decision to start selling them. Sold 8 today and will see how it goes. Gives me a few months more roster space.

I'm approaching 300 and when I do will start selling off the 3s I don't use. Realistically for me there are maybe 10-12 of them I'd want to keep a maxed champ the rest I can use a new or loaner.

I'm fast approaching 300 slots. I still have my max champed 3* for now. I often sell them when a dupe is close to being maxed. I have no idea what I'm going to do once I hit 300 slots, though. Maybe I'll decide to keep key characters and sell the rest. As a transitioning player who farms, I have zero champed 5*, but a few soft capped or near capped 5*. I'm so iso poor that I take it personally when Deadpool tries to cross me in the Deadpool PvE.

I keep 2 of each 3* max champed at all times, but truthfully all it really does is save on healthpacks (which is still helpful). I will then work on max champing whatever farmed 3* has the most saved levels. Once it is max champed so I have three of that character at 266, I sell it and start the process over again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I thought about it once I hit 300 but honestly right now I'm at 66k hp so eating 2k hp isn't that big of a deal for me because I'll make it back up fairly quickly.

I keep a full set of 266s.  Using a 266 vs the loaner isn't that big an advantage, but it's an advantage and I'm not going to give it up just to save a little cash.

Also if I see you using the loaner there's like an 80% chance I'm going to Thanos you repeatedly.

Funny...the only time I use the loaner is when I'm using Thanos to get rid of the seed teams.  The third is either OML or, if I need to drop him to 50% health, Thor.

No need getting your actual character any more damage than they'll be taking naturally.

I think the 2K tax is highly overrated and easy enough to keep up with if you play full progression. I usually spend 2 dollars a month on the game. Only in the last couple months have I upped it to 10 to try VIP. And it’s honestly not because I need the resources at all. Just to support the game.

For 3*s, I have three max champs and one farmer slot (mostly to save a few packs and because they take so long to build)  Two and a farmer for all 2s. All 5s and 1s rostered. Plan to keep all my max 4s and start a dupe when I get there too. I also have 6 Bag-Men (because why not?).
Now I don’t play PVP competitively (1200 and out at most; no battle chats, hit everyone without looking at names) which I know can be a HP suck. But I’m sitting on over 100K HP despite my spendy ways.

Granted I spend nothing, haven’t since I wasn’t happy how they gutted gambit, but I’m just about keeping up. I was banking 12,000 per month easily until they reworked the rewards and we lost that HP, now with the 2k roster slots and change in my play style I’m not adding to my Hp. I play CL 10 to progression and pvp to 500 and don’t shield ever.

I used to play to 900/1200 and throw one. I see no reason for the 2k tax tbh. It was relevant when we had 20 four stars but think that line be more progressive now we have over 100.

I hit 300 roster spots a couple of months ago and have decided to stay at 300 for awhile. For starters I have been selling max champed 2*s first because the only time I use 2*s is the Daily Deadpool. I also just had my first 4* hit max champ and started a dupe so I’ll be getting more dupe 4*s in the coming months. I have a max champ 3* and a dupe of every 3* somewhere along the journey. After losing a handful more duped 2*s I will start dipping into the 3* dupes as well.

I don’t play PvP competitively at all though.

I've always kept a champed 3* of each... but not a max champ (unless their replacement isn't at 13 covers yet).

I've been fine.  Sure, the 3* required isn't as strong as they could be, but it's less than 100 lvls away, and where I'm at in the game, the 5*s do all the lifting (with exceptions to 4*s like Polaris).  If a 266 3* ever made a difference against a meta 5* team, I'd think differently.

I always thought they should allow max champs to be 5,5,5. Sure it wouldn’t always be helpful but it would be a nice thing for most max champs.

Now that's interesting. I could see that as some sort of reward for building that character to the highest level. Maybe at the highest level have the option to "Max Champ" that character similar to how we "Promote" a character to champ. At that point we could add two more covers to take it to 5/5/5.

With that said, some of the excitement of building a character is determining their build. Before a new character's release there is a lot of debate on the build. With a max champ going to 5/5/5, players would also lose the uniqueness of the character (i.e. my 3/5/5 versus your 4/5/4).
