Another Puzzle Gauntlet, Another Disappointment

Once again I already had the support a rank 3 and 2 draws gave me 2 duplicates to my 2+ million Red ISO duplicate pile. So far I've gotten 1 rank support (useless Hulkling) and the rest have only been 3's.
This on a support I *REALLY* wanted at rank 4/5 too.
I spend the 18K HP (I have close to 70K HP) to buy out the vault if it guaranteed me at least a 4. Otherwise I'm one of many players who has everything besides rank 4/5 supports and have nothing to buy.
As many have suggested we desperately need a shard system for supports or a way to spend HP/CP/Red ISO and or some combination of those resources to increase our chance from 1/8 and 1/40 to get the ones we want (eg I'd happily pay 50K Red ISO per 1% chance increase).

I thought this was going to be about how it was too easy, *again*!
Please make these somewhat challenging or interesting, this was another boring waste of time.0 -
Supports are broken. If higher ranking is made more accessible to everyone, the game will be even easier. The first type of support to chase will be those that gives you 6 colours at the start of the game. I foresee such supports to be nerfed or restricted in some ways if R4/R5 supports are more easily achieved.
Otherwise, they have to come up with something that will take you 6-12 months to turn a R3 into a R5.
And, this Puzzle Gauntlet is easy. Please bring back a more challenging Puzzle Gauntlet, like the one held in June.1 -
This was the first redo of the puzzle so looks like there will be a loop. I can’t remember if the required characters were the same.0

I cannot for the life of me finish finish the Thanos/Patch node. I know you're supposed to bring in 3* Star Lord and steal the strikes, but I keep wiping before that happens.0

I did it fine with 3* Star Lord... granted, it took me a couple of failed tries, but eventually I succeeded... hoard purples, hoard yellows and leave the greens for Patch to cast his green on you.0 -
The puzzles were mostly straightforward. The one with Wolverine and Thano5 was just annoying though.0

Can you equip him with either the Lucky or Carol's Communicator support? Either should provide some healing when friendly strikes are matched. That's what enabled my Black Panther to complete the node.

Puzzle gauntlet is tricky in the way that if the mvp is a 3* and you have him low because of farming...
I was lucky and I got a 4* carol's communicator.
Until now I got a royal talon 4*, ancestral plain 4*, lucky 5*, and not featured: stormbreaker 4* and my favorite cull obsidian 5*.
So very happy with the puzzle gauntlet.
I want them to be more challenging too.0 -
I think this month's Gauntlet is good... it's not super duper easy as the previous one (get 20 AP of X color... cmon you could help yourself easily with boosts lol) nor OUTRAGEUOSLY HARD as the challenges from the PREVIOUS gauntlet from before (1 row of strike tiles, 1 column of protect tiles and so on) which was plain impossible to do without Polaris in the team lol.
I've completed the 2 special challenges with Star Lord, but would not say they were straightforward (not both of them at least). The BRB + Bishop one was tricky. The way I finally pulled that one off was by equipping Star Lord with my 3* Avengers Tower support. With this I could create a protect tile off 4-matches and have a random chance of fortifying my already existent protect tiles. Without that, I think I couldn't have done it. Even so, it took me a good while and patience to get it done.
I still have pretty bad luck with the support drops though. The best I've gotten this far in this month's Gauntlet alone was boosting my Carol's Comm to 3* which now allows a character to heal off matched friendly special tiles. But I still want my Wasp Gauntlets improved to 3* at least, I got them at 2* so no healing boost off that for now.1 -

That's not how you do it. Star Lord can already heal himself with his yellow. The way to do it is with him equipped with Royal Talon Fighter or some other support with the ability to create strike tiles for him. You take purple tiles to charge your purple skill to steal enemy strikes, and take yellow to heal yourself once your health starts falling down. And leave the green tiles (even better if they are charged because of your Star Lord's yellow) to Patch so that he uses his green and gives more strike tiles to you.
THAT is the straightforward way to get that challenge done. Doing it with 4* Panther can work, but isn't exactly straightforward. I wouldn't do it that way, Panther can't even heal himself, so. You would do it with the Carol Comm's heal, but that's not a RELIABLE heal, and you would be destroying your strike tiles that aren't fortified.0 -
I did both the final ones with Black Panther on the first try without any special supports. It took me a while to win the protects, but after a short time I had so many and there were getting buffed that I wasn't taking any damage.0

I used BP, too, but it took me a few tries because the buffs were getting so good I kept downing the AI team.

I like the current rewards system. It’s geared for beginners to advance with a new or improved support, while the whales most likely find it completely useless reward wise . Even if I was one I’d play this because I play the game for fun and unique challenges, not because I’ll get a reward . These are refreshing changes from the same 10 or so PVEevery 2 months or seeing PolBrBitty and Steel Witch in 95% of battles in PvP3

Used Panther for both here too - get your protects out as soon as possible and match away Thanos' purple special so that when Wolverine fires his the board fills with your special tiles. If you have enough protects out then you are taking 1 damage at a time so you just keep going until you have the 20 tiles needed.
also agreed on the poor support rewards/lack of shards. Both of my tokens gave 3* that I already had.0 -
Not only whales find it completely useless reward wise but they might have a collection of 5* supports anyway. But intermediate player like me get the same 2* or 3* supports again and again just to pile up their useless red iso even more.
I would find it a nice idea to pile up the duplicate supports instead and be able to exchange 10 3* for 1 4* or something in that way.1 -
I still need help with the 20 charged tiles and 20 fortified tiles nodes, could someone give me suggestions?
For charged tile creators the only things I got are 3* Star Lord and Ragnarok, and for fortified tiles I only have Magik, and with her blue at only 1 cover lol. I can't figure out proper teams in either case. I have a few supports that give a chance of fortifying friendly special tiles but they're all under level 30 so the chances aren't really decent.
In the fortified tiles challenge my greatest problem is that I just can't stop Misty Knight from firing her green, which defortifies all fortified tiles on the board. She just uses it once and it takes away the 10 or so fortified tiles I had accumulated up to that point. New tiles that fall have a great chance of being green so I can only delay the inevitable, lol.0 -
For the enemy strike tiles, 3* Wolverine and Elektra are obviously helpful but you can also take a character that creates a lot of protect tiles and let enemy Loki collect enough black to convert them to enemy strike tiles.
For charged tiles, ideally you'd want to use characters like Throg, Lockjaw or Negasonic, but if you don't have them yet I think it should still be possible with Star Lord and Ragnarok. The enemy Storm and Thor will create charged tiles that also count. Just try and make sure that Storm doesn't get too much black or she'll be destroying them too. As a third character, you may want to take someone who creates special tiles so that when the enemy Thor uses her yellow power, she turns some of those into charged tiles.
For the fortified tile one, I used 4* BP, Silk and Magik (the latter two I have as champions) and even that took ages. Whilst you want to avoid downing the whole team, it's definitely a good idea to down Misty to stop her removing fortified tiles. Then it's a good idea to only use your powers when you have enough AP to create a lot of fortified tiles in one go. With only Magik creating fortified tiles, though, this is going be very tough and very frustrating. Perhaps if your other two characters have really cheap powers it's possible, but it probably won't be very fun.0 -
Hoard your aps and spam them. You sound like you are a 2-star player due to you mentioning what options you have. Gambit can create 3 red or purple charged tiles for 5 black aps. He can create a maximum of 18 charged ap. Starlord can create 5 green charged tiles. Mathematically speaking, you have 23.0
-
Advanced Support Tokens are so rare that getting one and pulling a Rank 2 Support (which is just Red ISO I can't spend, since I only even have two Rank 1 Supports that could rank up in the first place) is just SUCH a downer.0

I'm still mostly a 3* player. But I got it done (with some luck in my side I guess).
Now all that stands between me and total victory is the fortified tile challenge, but that won't be solved by "hoarding APs". Due to the way Magik creates the fortified tiles (1 per skill cast. I would need an outrageous amount of APs to get 20 casts).1
