There's no way D3 can win. They make the odds to get 3* too low in bought packs, and they are ripping us off. Should they make the odds too high, the game is accused of being "Pay 2 Win".

Having said that, they really need to address randomness. With an ever-increasing rooster of characters, any given character has less and less chances of appearing in your packs. What use is to get a 6th green Hulk, when you're trying to build a Psylocke or others? It's even more infuriating than pulling a 2* because one of your statistical "lucky pulls" was wasted. They need to release more packs with a narrowed-down set of possibilities, like when they did those "female only" ones for No-Man Land. Packs with slightly increased odds of pulling a certain character are not good enough.

every other card game ends up doing blocks and events. this is basically a card game w/ match 3 gameplay. so at some point i imagine there will be blocks (like season 1, season 2, or x-men, villians, etc) to give you a bit more control over what you're trying to get. and most other games do events like "today heroic packs have a 2x wolverine drop rate." etc, so you can wait till the guy you want pops up and go for it.

the sheer number of *** characters (with at least 2 more coming in short order) is going to make it stupidly hard for new players to catch up when cover rewards for a specific character are 5-6months apart.
  • Actually, this is one thing that I think D3 has got mostly right for the sake of the game. Having played similar games where virtually the only way to get the best rewards was to spend £££ on packs, all you end up with is the higher spending players getting the best rewards, making them even more competitive in events to get the other rewards. In this game the best rewards are avaiable through gameplay (even if some of that gameplay necessitates spending £ on shields). Prices for packs are high, but I've seen far FAR worse in other games. I'm not saying it won't end up that way, because MPQ is still in it's mid lifecycle somewhere between Phase 2 and 3:

Phase 1 - Attract. Make the game genuinely F2P to enlarge user base to the point of efficient monetisation
Phase 2 - Light touch monetisation, introduce more need to spend to remain competitive but only situationally
Phase 3 - Full monetisation, ensure that the only way to 'win' is to pay (see 'new bracketing / MMR')
Phase 4 - Following phase 3, a hard core player base will exist that has invested too much to back out. Entice them to spend more by creating top tier rewards only accessible by spend
Phase 5 - Utilise power creep to extend game's lifecylce as long as possible before closure
  • While that is quite low, and it sucks that you had such horrible luck, I'm not really going to feel sorry for you. Each pull has the same odds and the odds are viewable before you buy the pack. Not D3's fault when they make the odds completely visible before you buy anything.

True, problem here is when you' ve been playing a while (90+ days here) you want to level up a specific character but might be missing a power. I have no problem with spending money on a game but spending 125$ and not getting what you want/need to be able to continue leveling doesn't make me want to spend more. It frankly makes me feel a little cheated or played for a sucker. Yeah, I took a chance and it blew up in my face. As a result, devs loose a customer willing to spend and I have to live with a toaster when I thought I was buying a microwave icon_e_sad.gif

That would be very tough to swallow, and I wouldn't buy any packs again if that happened to me too. Granted, I stopped buying packs once guarenteed covers went away anyway. Last time I bought a pack was when LazyCap came out and I got 6 or 7 LazyCaps in a single 10 pack, and seeing as how you spent 5x the amount of $$$ as me and didn't get as many 3*'s is really sad.

You also got extremely lucky. If like most 10 packs the chance at the featured character is 6.2% - and you hit that 6.2% more than half the time in 10 pulls....that ridiculous luck and should in no way be used as a realistic comparison.

I pulled those when the % chance to get the featured character was A LOT higher.
  • I got some tokens the other day, and I got two star covers, only for it freeze, and a one star venom, and a two star bagman to awarded. I am very pissed about it. Because the Devs can careless. Stop feeding money into this game.
