I'm a bit offended :( [3* covers in 42 packs]

Today I decided to purchase some covers as I thought I'd been stuck for some time. Having waited a couple of weeks wanting to level up Psylocke the offer finally comes and I purchase Stark salary and then the 42 pack. Would anyone care to guess how many *** I got? The answer is 4!!
This is ripoff at it's worst, gambling at it's best. Last pucrchase I make thank you very much.

I am sad that it took this to bring you to the forums. Believe me, your feelings are a common sentiment. The cover packs are an insulting deal now:(
  • Yea man that bites!!! hopefully u still have some HP left over to just buy the covers you were looking for. The pacs are almost useless now.
in fact i lost many nights sleep for this season packs and i didnt even get 1 *** this season will be more laid back for sure.

Kinda agree with Clint. If I had seen a thread like "should I buy a 40 pack" I would have ran screaming waving my send trying to stop you from even thinking about it. You should always directly level the characters if you want to spend for covers. That way you can guarantee you get the cover that's the best possible fit for your situation.
  • not trying to pile on but...its always better to just buy the specific covers that u need. i know it was an expensive one, but lesson learned. the forum is a great place to bounce questions and ideas off of a group of self loathing punishment seeking individuals (thats why icon_eek.gif we all play so much...right? icon_e_wink.gif who spend waaay to much time w this game

    good luck. marc

I think you'd expect around 10. But that's just me eyeballing the percentages...

Those were my first thoughts. That, and the odds of each cover pull are available to view before you purchase. It shouldn't have been a surprise when you got mostly 2* fodder.

Always research before you make a purchase, imo. Especially if you don't understand fully what you are purchasing.

looks like straight percentages calls for 7.3ish 3-4 star covers.
*did the math, that is a terrible deal, by far buying the covers for 1250 hp is better since you get ~12.6 covers for the same cost as a 42 pack.
    so yeah gambling.

The cover packs are now only worth it if you don't have many ** covers in your team roster. Getting *** covers is always a gamble without the guaranteed featured character.
  • Yeah. Always, always better to buy covers directly. Better yet, buy shields and use them to secure covers in tourneys. 75-300hp to secure 2500hp worth of covers seems a good deal to me.
  • It's the same with almost every game I've ever played though. Specific purchases>lotto packs. Sure...when you say 40 chances to not het **** that sounds ...well it still sound sbad bit..better?. Anyway, it sounds okay-ish bit if hou look the math your chances of actually saving money getting what you want is always so very very low that unless you really need a lot of other covers its nog very helpful. So, if you JUST started...there might be a point go the 40 packs where even 2** can kinda help you. Even "mid" tier players..yea..not worth it.

Side note: I see to be seeing Mpq ads all over the internet the last few days...kinda weird.

    It knows...it knows...and if knows I know...it knows I know.

Unlucky mate, hopefully you learnt that it's not worth the spend. Tell your mates/guildies.
  • Garbage in, garbage out. How many times did we tell not to buy tokens? Or even more generalized, not to feed this **** engine with real money until turns on a player-friendly path?

They make it easy to let the fool part with his money, and you provide all the evidence it works all too fine.

Well excuse me for being new to the forums icon_e_smile.gif

looking at my purchase and comparing it to other p2w games it seems this is the trend. Devs now start with nice offers and and after a while you find yourself relying on luck instead of getting what you want for your money. That's gambling in my books and the reason many games like star trek online are locked out of some EU countries
  • Can you get your money back or anything? That sucks. IMO all these expensive packs should contain only random 3*.

Yeah the packs are garbage. Beyond the problem with the **** pulls, is the way that they are advertised. I'm thankful that you can get a look at the odds of a pull now, but the way they are prominently featured in the app makes it seem as if you have a good shot of the characters in the splash art which is a little deceptive.

Look at the "Prodigal Son" packs being sold, the 10x and 42x feature Daken, Psylocke, Falcon, Rags and Storm. Even though it's totally random, I'm willing to bet you will get a high amount of 2stars. That's been my luck. I've read about the psychology of it all in the forums, but it just seems paying for a chance to win content you want in a game just isn't fun. I won a 10pack last season and it was nothing but 2stars. I don't know if the aim is to make me continue to earn tokens? But it's having quite the opposite effect, which is it's just pointless. Paying for packs doesn't reward me, neither does earning tokens for covers. So, what is the aim here? I play alot, but I'm not spending money since there's no way to get one I want.

I would love a more guaranteed way to get covers I want instead of paying for an abundance of useless covers.

I'm still playing, but I don't spend money anymore.

You took a gamble, knowing full well it was a gamble. Yes, they recently made the gamble worse, and I would prefer that they didn't (even though I've never bought a cover pack), but it's always fundamentally been a gamble. There's no bait-and-switch here, nor is there any P2W involved.

For 15800 HP, that would be an absolutely insane deal. Even if you could only use half of those 42 3* covers, you're getting those useful covers for just north of half-price.

Assuming you're talking about the ability to directly buy covers you don't already have at least one of, that would significantly magnify the P2W factor.

If they just offered a random 3* pack that only included 3 covers not sure what they would consider a fair deal for this but i obviously would think i shouldn't be more then a 10 pack.

Getting did that dirty by the RNG is atrocious.

That sounds like a good idea. I wonder if they have some sort of metric that restricts the flow of covers into the economy? Which that would mess up. But I would love that.
  • i know how ya feel man i once bought 2 Thor 10X packs and got 0 3 stars. last time i bought packs.. or hp.
