Unanswered Questions....

Edited2- I reworked my post. Apparently I came off as over the top. Which was not my intent.

IceIX, (Or any of the D3 employees lurking the threads)

I posted in your thread the the other day, and it wasn't just to post a post. I actually expect a true, non-scripted response from someone. Even if the response has to be "Not speaking as a Dev".

I am a very persistent person. I will shamelessly bump this thread EVERY DAY, multiple time a day if necessary, until I see a red user name respond in a genuine, non-cookie cutter manner. Because I feel that the consumers here in this community deserves more attention directly from the company that you represent.

As stated in my original post, I started with: "We all understand that you have other job duties outside of the forums."
But there has to be a way to effectively communicate on a better scale.

How does D3 plan on removing/repairing the feelings of disrespect and hurt that we as a community here are feeling? I am sure that it is not just us on the forums. There are others out there that feel the same way and just haven't made their way here yet.

Edit: Just to clarify my title. I was not implying that IceIX lurks. I was referring to other D3 employees that show up as online but never post. I am fully aware that IceIX comments and speaks with us.

To save you time from looking for it, here is the original post:

As for my absence, just been busy lately. As much as I'd like to pour more time into chatting/keeping up communication with you all, this is one of my many hats and I can't wear it all the time.

We all understand that you have other job duties outside of the forums.

However, that being said, considering that this is one of the most wildly popular games at the moment, and one of the upper grossing, would it be too much to ask that the company hire a liaison to connect with the user base, at the very least, part-time? The communication level of D3 with the consumers is one of the worst that I have ever seen. I have spent the last 20 years of my life managing different kinds of Customer Service industries. And as a consumer of your product, I expect better communication. By reading through the forums, the sentiment is very clear. YOU ARE NOT LOSING CUSTOMERS BECAUSE YOU NERFED SPIDEY. (Well, maybe a few) YOU ARE LOSING CUSTOMERS BECAUSE WE FEEL DISRESPECTED DUE TO THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION. (Not yelling, I promise. Using all caps to highlight my point.)

We expect nerfs. We expect changes in the game (we may not always agree, but we expect them). We all know that the game is still growing with content and needs changes to keep people interested and engaged. And we all acknowledge that your company has a right to make money off of the game. Most of us are willing to spend money, if we didn't feel that doing so would be in vain. But we feel like we don't matter. If you are really reading all the post here, you know all of this, and yet, you have made no gesture to calm and heal the feelings of disrespect and hurt that we are feeling in the community. Nor has anyone else from your company. We DO NOT want free tokens. We DO NOT want free HP or ISO. (Most of us) We DO want communication that we are not getting. And I truly don't understand that from a business side of things. We are your biggest fans and supporters. We take the time to come to the forums, make suggestions, help new players get into the game. We truly care about MPQ and the community here and want to see it succeed.

    Isn't all ISO free? icon_lol.gif

Unless of course you bought it from the store... icon_neutral.gif

Maybe my original post should have said EXTRA free HP or ISO...

Or until I get fed up to the point that i will search out every single gaming review website and start ranting on them.

You might have better luck private messaging IceIX or other "red" names. Also, for feedback and suggestions/requests a customer service ticket has more weight. You probably won't get the answer you want, but at least you won't be wasting your breath.
  • I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. Yes it was frustrating wondering what was going on but they don't owe us anything. They had server issues and other than some delays, none of us were too adversely affected. Stating that they are being disrespectful and owe us something is just an overblown sense of entitlement.

I work at a call center. If we have server issues that cause web and phone outages, we don't give our clients money for not being able to reach us. We apologize and help them when we can. And they understand because they don't belong to our entitlement generation.

1- This isn't about server issues or glitches. This is about overall communication with the playerbase (aka consumers).

2- I am not asking for money, or anything free. I do not have a sense of "entitlement". People keep throwing that word around at people who write complaints here. WE ARE CONSUMERS. We have the right to complain. And we have the right to be informed. That is not entitlement. That is a reasonable expectation of a company that wants you to spend money on their product.

Has there actually been an apology? Or just an acknowledgement?

And I'd bring up Puzzles and Dragon's recent server problems again, but last time that disrailed the thread.

Point of clarification - I and all of the other mods have zero affiliation with D3. We're random members of the community who volunteered to help keep the forum clean of spam and to tamp down especially virulent behavior. We have a special sub-forum just for the mods and Ice posts there about as often as he posts here, and we get no special information there (just additional advice/info on how to handle special mod cases or reports).

But on topic, Ice has said that the only threads they are guaranteed never to comment in are the ones that say "devs, read this" or something along those lines. So at the very least, change the title of this thread.

So you think that demanding a response is going to actually get one? Doesn't that logically lead to the point where everyone starts demanding responses on this forum?

It would be self-defeating for them to respond to this kind of blackmail.

Not to mention, I'm not sure exactly how hypothetical dev is supposed to respond to "I demand you explain to me what you are going to do about the fact that you are bad and your company is bad and your game is bad"

There was in the in app "Sorry for the inconvenience" pop-up that lasted for a few days for the server issue. But that is not the issue here. The issue that I am pointing out with neon lights is the almost completely one-way communication.

And while that pop-up is a start, it's a far cry from good communication.

I know that IceIX responds to post sporadically as his time allows. And I appreciate him doing so. If it wasn't for him, most of us here would never get anything from DD3. But if they have made him the main source of communication, and then have him doing a million other things that keeps him from that, then D3 is doing something wrong.

I know that the mods here are not affiliated with D3. You all are wonderful people who give your time to this forum because you love and believe in this game. I was referencing a post that Ice made where he stated "Not speaking as a Dev/Mod".

I will do my best to re-title. Not sure to what... But I'll think of something...

I never said any of that. Please don't paraphrase someone in a way that makes you look like you are trolling. It is not beneficial to you or to anyone else for that matter.

I don't personally know any of the Dev's, so I cannot comment on them one way or another. Same goes with the company. And I for sure never said the game was bad. I love the game. And I want to support the Dev's and their company. If I didn't like the game, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be so vocal.

I said the communication is terrible. HUGE difference.

Point well taken. I did not mean to come off in that way. I have amended my original post. Thank you for your constructive feedback. I appreciate it.

I'm more so trying to call attention to the lack of effort that D3 puts in with communicating with us. They set up this forum, they used to respond, then they didn't, then they promised to do it better, all the while it has only gotten worse. Ice is the only person that I have ever seen on a regular basis (using that term loosely) post to the threads. And as previously stated, if they assigned him to the task, then keep him so busy that he can't perform that task, then they either need to get him some help so he can, or assign the task to a dedicated person.

I'm pretty sure that IceIX is a dev, and so communicating with the forum is something he does on his own time. If he's been officially assigned to it, I would guess it's only to the extent of posting patch notes and the like. I looked earlier in the day and there were 11 registered users on and 10 guests. Just now, 6 registered users and 12 guests. To me, that doesn't really sound like enough to justify formally allocating someone, even part-time, to interact with the community here.

At the time of this post, there were 15 users and 7 guest in this thread alone. And there are times when I first log in, that there's half a page of registered users showing online on the main page.

And I'm not saying that the person should be here all the time. But we should be getting responses at a much better rate. Not just 5 or 6 post in 1 thread every three or four days. That barely counts as communication.
  • When I talk about entitlement, I'm mainly referring to asking for ISO, hp, covers etc.
  • When I talk about entitlement, I'm mainly referring to asking for ISO, hp, covers etc.

But I never mentioned anything about wanting anything for free. If you'll re-read my post, ( I know it's lengthy) I specifically state that all I am after is better communication.
We DO NOT want free tokens. We DO NOT want free HP or ISO (most of us). We DO want communication that we are not getting.
  • You have some very valid points, but the whole "I'll keep bumping this thread if I have to" if no devs respond to your post just seems very whiney. And while communication is severely lacking, they have been making improvements lately. We got a heads up about the spidey nerf, they didn't change the abilities they decided upon based on our feedback, but they didn't just suddenly spring it on us. There was even a popup about it in-game.

Your original point was trying to explain the community's sentiment about the lack of communication, this one feels a lot more self-centered and like "someone better respond to me or else". If IceX never responded to this thread I couldn't care less, although I would like to see him and/or other mods posting more in the other posts.

You say whiney, but I say squeaky wheel... icon_lol.gif

And a few pop-ups in app... It's a start. But I wouldn't consider it an improvement. It's barely a baby step. And if we allow/consider that tiny change to be considered improvement, then we will never get anywhere.
