So, if this is the only way to get vanguards, and the average jewels to get them all(found during the maintenance fiasco) was about 17k jewels....
At the rate we get jewels, shouldn’t take longer than what...? 2 years?

This is a great question. Also since they’re not masterpiece level rarity, will you be able to craft them if you’re not paying for the VIP if so?

Vanguards are overpriced for having to put up with dupe-packs as the only way to get them.  
If it was 75 jewels for a Rare pull, then maybe.  There's the option to turn 300 crystals into 75 jewels.  For 300 crystals I can get a guaranteed rare from a Premium Pack.  
  
And if it wasn't bad enough, the esthetic choice of slapping "EXCLUSIVE" all over the card art is really obnoxious when you look at more than one card at a time, and having roughly 1/4 of the new set with that makes my eyes hurt.  
  
Both reasons make me want to skip getting Vanguards entirely.

I made the mistake of doing that yesterday, lucky it got rolled back!
