    I will open another posibility:
As we always say,we need more villains in the game and this hint could be Gladiator.
Shi´Ar has many things in common with the "romans". Emperors, empress, imperial guard... Even himself is considered a "praetor".

Anyway it is always fun trying to solve mpq guys hints.
ooooo, on that vein.  Since Gladiator's powers are scaled based on self confidence; have him be the first character whose powers scale based on team composition.  Have him effectively powered to the lowest star level on your team.  Too much of a nightmare to code, but would be fun...

The only Roman line I I can think of is "et tu,  Brute"

    So I'm guessing Brutus.
There is another really famous line from the same play, and it would hint at a particular X-man...

"Cry 'Havoc!', and let slip the dogs of war".

    So, Havok?

Seriously, this would be an incredible guess, with whoever coming up with the clue being as clever.

Agreed on both counts. Roman = Namor is way too easy, and it's been a while since they did a simple anagram IIRC (plus, what then of the "sline"?).

If we are going to quote Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar then what about “Friends, Romans, countrymen lend me your ears.”
Obviously indicates Banshee. Deafens opponents so they need to borrow someone else’s ears to hear with.

If it were Bishop it’d have been really cool to push the X-Men vs. Apoc event for his release.  Regardless of who it is, we’ll probably end up meeting Rocket and Groot again, lol.

Bishop would kind of fit in with Cable+Hope, since he was previously travelling through time attempting to murder a baby.
With that said, the hints haven't usually been that obscure, so Namor seems like a better bet.

Oh, how I wish the 4* boss release event could be a thing again.  Honor Among Thieves or Webbed Wonder seem pretty likely, Hearts of Darkness also possible.

    Just for grins and giggles...

Roman's line... Roman = Legion, and his "line" is a timeline.

So what's a timeline that belongs to Legion? Well, he tried to go back in time and kill Magneto, and caused the death of Professor X instead. This changed history, and created a timeline we know as the Age of Apocalypse.

And who stars in the Age of Apocalypse as the time-traveling mutant with memories of the "good" timeline who goes back in order to stop the death of Professor X and save the day?

    Bishop.

The Roman God of War is Mars.
Draw a line to his Greek counterpart.
    5* Ares.
