Murder not triggering [Fix in 2.9]

My first turn: Disable Murder, fill it to full.

AI first turn: Drop Etali. Murder doesn't trigger.

Our theory is that Murder is occasionally not triggering when the AI has no creatures on the board, or that certain cards are bypassing the attack phase somehow.

I have succesfully murdered hasty creatures before, but this has happened twice to me now. Both were against Etali.

I successfully murdered an Etali that was played that turn, also with an empty board beforehand.
I have also managed to murder the hasty dragon the turn it was played.

You aren't the first person to post this issue, though, so there must be something going on.  Maybe it's platform specific?  Are you on an Iphone?

No, I'm on Android. I neglected to mention above that I've had it work previously, but twice it's failed on Etali. Coalitionmates have reported issues as well. It seems to work 90% of the time, but....

If nothing else, my scenario is so specific--first and second turns, literally nothing else cast by either player--that it should be easy to replicate in their testing. I wish I'd noted what node  of AX it was on.

    Further information if it helps:

Early on, board is empty. I have disabled Murder in hand, filled with mana. He drops Volcanic Dragon onto an empty board. Murder does not trigger. I bounce him instead with Perilous Voyage and drop Etali into play.

Next turn, he drops Volcanic Dragon again, and this time, Murder does trigger.

Perhaps it  needs more than 1 creature in play.

Interesting thing happened to me this morning, I had a charged murder in my hand, and my opponent played a Regisaur Alpha on an empty board.  The 6/6 alpha hit with no Murder trigger, but then I got the option to cast it before the 3/3 token hit.  Very strange.

maybe it's a bit like how journey to eternity won't always
flip if you kill your own creature after you cast journey on
the same turn. (I think it always triggers if you cast it one
turn before killing your own creature).

I've seen Storm the Vault delay its Raid effect sometimes on the turn on which it is dropped.  Similar to the Journey to Eternity behavior mentioned above.  Supports with summoning sickness?

Storm the Vault is because the Raid doesn't trigger until your next turn.  So if you played Storm the same turn you attacked for the first time (sequentially) then it won't trigger, but you'll have Raid ready for your next turn.  Its super counter-intuitive, but consistent with how it was implemented.

As for Journey, it is bugged and won't trigger to return a disabled creature.  Its possible it treats summoning sickness as disabled.

Could you split the journey to.. Part in another thread?

Journey has a another problem : if it triggers on a creature that immediately returns to the battlefield like despoiler of souls, or another effect does the same, like destroying it with Lili 3s first ability, strange things happen.. Like the creature returning to the battlefield, self destructing, returning, vanishing. It's weird.

I faced that same bug with murder, i was wondering if it could come from the fact i asked it not to launch on the previous turn.

I've also encountered this bug both vs Etali and Radha. I was also able to flash Murder an Etali before. This could be a costly bug if you're playing RtO on black node and get extra damage because Murder is not triggering.

I have not seen this bug when the opponent casts creatures with haste, possibly because I almost always use my Murder when I have the option. It does fail to trigger when my opponent summons a creature without haste though. Also, even though it worked against Radha for me, he still gave 3 mana to my opponent despite being killed before attacking.

Just had this happen on red node of HoR - Greg cascaded a non-haste creature immediately followed by Ball Lightning.  I had two Murders ready to go (both fully charged and disabled) but Ball Lightning still attacked and did damage.

EDIT: Yep, definitely something bugged - immediately after typing and in the same match as above, Greg cast Gishath with nothing else on the board.  Same result, fully charged Murder failed to deploy.

In other words, red node full of Hasted creatures means you will almost certainly not get the <15 damage objective, so don't bother.

I have seen this repeatedly throughout this event where hasty creatures don't trigger Murder's flash ability if there were no other creatures on the board when they citp. Also, and most importantly, it's not triggering Murder's flash ability if the only creature(s) on the board at the beginning of the turn had haste. Basically, haste seems to be not triggering Murder.

That said, I haven't missed the <15 damage objective yet, because Lich's Mastery is a good card.

Just got hit by Darigaz, despite having Murder disabled and filled with mana.

I dont know the exact situation in which murder works or doesnt.

If there are other creatures (at least 1 other than the haste creature) on board seems to work.

If there have been creatures that died and then a haste creature is cast it seems to work perhaps?

If there are no creatures ever it doesnt work perhaps?

It definitely has to do with creatures.

Ps i did not extensively examine it during each encounter but it feels like it may be related to this.

Oh, just now I've had it triggering against a hasty creature on an empty board.
    It was Geas revenge.

In a match sometime this week I think, I had murder ready and waiting, Greg cast Radha and I never got the prompt. It died at some point and later in the match another Radha was cast and that time murder DID allow me to use it on the turn Radha came out. Maybe it's something about just being the first creature on the battlefield, or maybe the first creature for each player or something.
