I have plenty of new toys to play with but there are too many funky interactions to predict what is actually going to happen, so I would love if they set aside a couple months (after m19) to fix all the bugs and technical issues going on in the game right now. I can wait for Ravincia.

Exterminate the bugs!  One of the things I don't understand is how after updates, cards that were working fine break.  Examples are Anguished Unmaking not firing unless there is a support present(you used to be able to cast it on a completely empty board), Awaken cards no longer creating Land Creatures, and Grovetender Druid going back to making 0/2 Prevent Damage Plants with Defender as opposed to vanilla 1/1s.

While I'm here, this seems like a good place to make a point I've been making for literal years at this point.  Early on in paper Magic's history, the card formatting was a total mess.  It took them a while, but eventually, they standardized terms and meanings across the game.  MtGPQ is looooong overdue for this kind of thing.  The example I always use is if you look at green spells that destroy supports, Appetite for the Unnatural has different wording than Root Out which has different wording than Creeping Mold which has different wording than Reclaiming Vines...and it goes on like this.  The other aspect of the game that desperately needs standardization is which spells prompt you to affirmatively cast them or not.  It'd be nice if there was some king of unifying theme there.

I have been preaching this since Ixalan came out as a buggy mess.  We can wait an extra couple months for the new set, it isn't a big deal.  Just make sure that when it comes out it works.

I chose other because I want to face off against an actual PLAYER in PVP battles, not just a bot playing a player's deck. Thank you.

There are a lot of reasons why this will probably never happen.

The new devs went at breakneck speed getting out Ixalan, Rivals, and Dominaria almost to the point that buyer fatigue was starting to set in from people trying to get the cards and planeswalkers, and it was done without enough testing between releases because of their desire to get caught up.

In my opinion, the game would have benefitted if they had slowed down a little and got it right the first time, as well as fixed the bugs as they came out. We've been behind the paper release before, and people didn't seem to make a huge issue of it so long as new content was still coming out, and the game was fun to play.

Dominaria is still new enough, and we've gotten new events and new objectives on other events, so there's stuff to keep us occupied while they fix bugs before charging ahead with Core 2019. Additionally, Guilds of Ravnica doesn't come out until October, so even waiting a little bit means there's still time to fully digest Core 2019 before the paper launch of that set.

Agree that it is highly unlikely you will ever see that. Also being able to go first is such a significant advantage that you'd probably hate real PVP.

I think this is not the case by design. It's good for the player overall to have the AI pilot a player-made deck. As it is now, I can be playing on my way to work on the train, and not lose a match if my train goes into the subway and I lose signal before the match is over. I can simply lock my phone and pick the match back up when the train comes above ground again.

Same goes for any other reason someone might need to put down their phone while playing.

I don't care whether they fix the bugs first or new content first, just as long as they do something.

I think I'm starting to understand why you picked the name you did ;)

Ideally though, I agree with you that that would be super cool to face some of your friends.  I'm not sure how plausible it is from the game design mechanics tho

It would be cool if it could be implemented Words with Friends style. It wouldn't necessarily have to be in real time, you could just log in and see what they played during their turn, and then make your turn.

Huh, a play-by-mail system.  That may actually work.  It just may take a while to play out.

I'd use the Super Stickman Golf system, where your loadout (or deck and level, for us) is locked in for the fight once it starts, and can't be changed.  You put in a cap on the number of games you can have going at once. (I've only played SSG2 but I think the others work the same way)

I used to play a similar game that had live PvP. I found I spent a lot of time waiting for my opponent to take their turn (and yes, there was a counter). I did not like that.

Also once I fell asleep in the middle of a TG match and woke up the next morning and was able to finish it and get my points. This was cool.

I would prefer to have a stable game with a steady stream of interesting Player vs Greg content than to ever have to wait on someone to make their moves, or to lose matches because I get a phone call or need to get the meatloaf out of the oven.

The day live PvP comes to MtGPQ will be my last.

I think the whole premise of the poll is faulty.

Like asking whether you want to have good looks or intelligence. Why do those things have to be mutually exclusive?

Sorry for the snark, but I guess it's too much to ask to both walk and chew gum.

I actually agree with you but I'm not sure they can walk and breath at the same time, i'm just so tired of the bugs and inconsistencies and find new ones everyday it seems.

Should be obvious but maybe it isn't. Time is the answer. There is a limited staff of developers and testers and the question is what should be the emphasis for the next while. You can't have both because clearly the team is not capable of that much output.

Whilst I definitely vote for fix the bugs , I have a bigger issue . Why do we have to get one or the other? I think we've all gathered that the testing on the dev end is inadequate, but it's getting worse rather than better. There was a post about how Greg ,effectively, forgot how to count . It's pretty accurate . I'm willing to wait for a product that works as advertised , but I really don't like that this is where we are. A lot of the bugs work in my favor, but I don't like feeling like I'm exploiting a bug every time I play with a new toy. It's weird how so many things are better, too. It's definitely not all bad . I just want off the roller coaster . Feels like I was floating in a peaceful sea , then I was rescued by a sinking ship .

Please fix the bugs. And please please please make the game much faster in every possible way. Loading the game takes ages and clicking anything takes ages, too. Please stop the game from reloading everything from scratch when I only want to change the screen. And please let us disable all the annoying animation. Right now everything takes ages, not only starting a game but also everything in game.
