So... how the hell do you win PvP, exactly?

  • At the moment it is just possible to transition to 3 star if you spend money. I bet over 50% of the 3 star covers handed out are sold. Stupid seasons!

for the last rags event i had 930 and ended up 13th, so the competition is definitely more so, but the waiting a day or two helped me a lot not to get into the death brackets where you have to have 1100+ to get into the top 10
  • It's pretty funny that before these changes everyone complained that requiring players to tank / lose early in a tourney in order to win was ridiculous. They also complained that joining a tourney late to get an easier bracket was stupid. They were right!

Now you guys are complaining that things are tough. Don't get me wrong, I'm in the middle of the 2-3 star transition as well and I'm having a hard time now. At least the rules actually sort of make sense now though! Shouldn't it be tough to be one of the top players? Shouldn't people with full 3 star rosters have an advantage against my 2 star roster?

Now if only they would fix PvE by removing rubberbanding and scaling!

Careful what you ask for, if I remember correctly they did that once and it was a total mess. Instead of losing if you can't be on in the last few hours, you'd lose if you couldn't constantly be online playing.

It is totally fair that 3* roster place higher that 2* players. What is not fair is that players with 1* roster or starting the 2* transition have an advantage on 2*->3* players: due to their brackets, they win 3* covers much more easily. The complains are about that, not about 3* players winning more that 2*->3* players.
What is not fair is that there is distinct bracket categories, instead of brackets with the full range of players, from 1* to 3*.

But if 2*>*3 players didn't struggle more than 1*>2* characters it would make becoming a 2*>3* more difficult. The key to GOOD game design is to arrange a difficulty curve in which games start easy and slowly build to being more difficult. IT SHOULD BE EASIER FOR 2* players to START COLLECTING 3* covers, but as they start to make that transition it SHOULD BECOME MORE DIFFICULT!

The problem with MPQ isn't that it's harder for players to finish collecting 3* than it is to start. The problem is once you have a bunch of max level 3* characters, it becomes significantly easier to continue winning than during the 2* > 3* transition.

I would argue that brackets should be based around # of max cover 3* characters for the players, that would basically make your competition relatively equal in strength. Perhaps have a single bracket for players with 0 max cover 3* characters, another for 1-2, another for 3-5, and then a final bracket for players with 6+ 3* characters that have full covers. It should be based on # of covers, not max level though because some could abuse that system to stay in the 0 bracket till & just not level their characters till they are ready to jump to the next bracket.
