Oath of tefeiri - first thoughts?

I recently pulled this card from an elite pack. Theorically it seemed to offer a lot of posibilities so I was definitely excited to try it and i must say that, for now on, I'm quite impressed by the design of this card and the chaos it can bring in the games.

However, as it is a complex and unpredictible card, i thought we could use this topic to share our experiences and see what kind of weird/great interactions players could imagine with this card.

Being an exclusive, this might also help people to decide if they want to spend money on it before the release of the dedicated bundle.

It's the first real entry of flicker into this game that I'm aware of, definitely ups the stakes

First of all, it is great to notice that it wont cause any summoning sickness as everything happens at the end of turn.
Then, the loyalty bonus is significant as it will trigger for any exiled creature regardless of the owner of the exile effect. The card itself exiles 2 creatures (yours and oponents') on each turn but it also benefits from those white exile support or black exile cards that are widespread.
Besides, you will also get the loyalty bonus if creatures are exiled from your hand, library or graveyard.

Talking about creatures on board, the first obvious effect of oath is to trigger creatures ETB on each turn. But it will also triger oponents ETB (very fun when the oponent kills itself with his own chain abomination actually ... Less fun if he only controls emrakul).
Also note that if you have diferent creatures with ETB,  the effect will change on each turn as exiled creatures come back in last position.
Another point is that the exile will keep the reinforcments but you might loose part of the ETB stat bonuses : as an example, if you exile a 26/26 tishana (reinforced once) it will come back as a 14/14 if your hand is full (13/13 + 1/1 from the base body of the reinforcment).

The second effect that comes to mind is the reset effect. When exiled, the creatured looses all his stats or ability buffs, but also comes back with full life. Pretty useful with natural defender or berserk creatures.
The most interesting part here is that the natural defenders or zerk creatures can be regenerated and will also grow up for each reinforcment. (While sirene ruse, for example, makes you loose your reinforcments).

Here's for now on, i hope this might be useful. I'll try to add so more informations that would come to my mind and i hope you'll feel free to share your own observations.

My thought is that I'd very much like to have the card. But since it's not in the store and my EP landed me Pernicious Deed, I'll just have to sit here jelly.

Actually, that would be Siren's Ruse from Ixalan, but Oath brings back the whole stack.

Why do I have a feeling that Origin's Knight of the White Orchid is going to be making a comeback with this new oath being available?

It has some flavor but Zacama has a bigger body, converts 9, adapts to diferent colors and has interesting side effects.  He's overall more versatile and his legendary condition works well with the dominaria mechanics.
However, he's mythic so kind of harder to acquire.

I did not pull it yet, but for me it's the must have of thos set. Played once against it and survived, bit ot was very impressing to see it's work. It exiled my token and brought back and exiled opposite creature with come into play effects.

If I pull it, I would try it with Teferi and Azor as lone creature to prohibit spells every turn. Teferis ultimate clean the opposite field and make cards cost more.

For the card of the set. Not easy to set up like Ghalta or even Doom, but way mpre control in the right deck.

Pulled deed last week. A waste of time. Today I pulled my second conflux. At least 3750 orbs to craft.

So I have to buy Oath the hard way I think. Will be in store soon.

Yep, Siren's ruse was first. And makes a formidable pairing with Naru Meha

Interesting and fun concept, but it will destroy your support very fast. However, you got tons of mana and loyalty to build a board during those few turns. Could be powerful with walkers with a deathstrike third ability.

Does it give loyalty when creatures are exiled from the hand or the deck?

After a few tests, i can confirm you also get the loyalty when you exile from hand or from the graveyard (embalm, eternalise and so on).

Yes, very good for a cycling deck as well.
