Pernicious Deed

I know I already have a thread talking about balancing the bad cards from DOM, but after attempting to make a deck with this MASTERPIECE I found a pretty significant flaw.

The flaw is, it kills itself immediately.  Deed kills all supports with shield 3 or more.  It comes in with 5.  It kills itself.

I have to ask @Oktagon_Daiane, why would you ever make a card that destroys itself on its first activation, and then why would you make it a 15 cost maserpiece?  What was the design team thinking?  Did you guys not realize that it includes itself in "destroy all"?

Please, please, please, please fix this card.  I put a nice suggestion in my "DOM Balancing Ideas thread".

Please fix it.

The paper version kills itself as well.

    Pernicious Deed

    Enchantment

    1GB

X, Sacrifice Pernicious Deed: Destroy each artifact, creature, and enchantment with converted mana cost X or less.

In this case, though, it is a completely different card.  Also, that would make sense if it was one ability (destroy all creatures with toughness 5 or more and all supports with shield 3 or more) instead of the current 2 separate ones.

Sure, but the paper version costs 3 and stays put until you want/need to use it.

You can blow up your own board by an accidental match via cascade or through a conversion from a land or spell. If the activated gem prompted you for activation, that would actually go a long way.

The purpose of the paper version was to have a board wipe on deck ready to go when needed, but in MTGPQ, you have to hold it for fear of killing your stuff, then cast it, then wait a turn, then hope there's a match available in the color that you want in order to get the desired effect. And it takes ~3 turns to cast for most.

first 3 rivals elite packs actually, opened the first 2 back-to-back.  Unlike every other set except Innistrad, Rivals was actually good to me :3

Are y'all suggesting there is some kind of.. power imbalance in the cards in this game? Good lord. I'm sure Oktagon will leap into action and fix it immediately.
I'm sure they'll buff all the cards we have and give full refunds to players for money poorly spent too!

I feel bad for the people who thought and chased after acquiring all 3 parts of that combo...like it was somehow possible.

on topic: I don't own Pernicious deed

Just opened it instead of the Jodah/Jhoira/Return I was hoping for. First thought was to combine it with Nyx or something like that to lock the opponent, but seeing as it kills Nyx as well, that's not really an option :(

I'm not certain really where I want this... Guess it works (kinda) with the scavengers, zombies, squees of the game? It does miss Journey, so in theory you could cascade, kill supports and creatures, and then Journey could return your creature? There's a slight payoff I guess.

I would have preferred something along the lines of Blood Sun, like:

When this support loses a shield, the first creature each player controls is destroyed, each player discards their last two cards, all supports lose three shields. Gives it two activations, and a big symmetrical effect

Ridiculous joke of a masterpiece. I too got it, and remains my only masterpiece of the set. There are more than a few uncommon cards I find more powerful and useful than this botched implementation.

It wouldn't feel so bad if MP's weren't so difficult to get, but they don't exactly rain down on us and getting Deed is sadly worse than just getting one of the mythics currently in the EP's.

MP's are supposed to be extra powerful "nice to have" cards. Not useless "bad to have" cards.

I've only found it useful in Lily builds.  it's not really necessary for killing critters, that's never been her weakness.
The Starfield lock-down is her absolute bane (Ob Nix's too) and with luck, Pernicious Deed takes care of it.
This is, sadly, the only use I've found for it...most of the time it just bloody backfires.

Pernicious Deed seems more like it should have been implemented as a spell rather than a support in PQ

I'm one of the other unfortunates who got this as well.  (I also have Haphazard Experiment so talk about bad luck with this set) I was most disgusted and very annoyed!
@Zzyzzx: I like the idea of Liliana using this - there needs to be an answer back - but otherwise I just feel it was a waste of my crystals.
I agree with @Brakkis - maybe this can be left as is but change it to a spell so you don't feel the sting of your five shield support destroying itself.
