It's a hard line to balance, heaps to do but not burning people out, and part of it is probably getting past the blocks in people's heads more than anything...

Like in this game I try and do everything and I've _just_ managed to convince myself not to play TotP anymore, mostly because I'd keep starting it and put it down about halfway through and never get my gold back because I'd forget... (I have a similar problem sometimes with TG and AI even! If I don't do it straight in a row I forget.)

Just like you I try and do everything that gives rewards... But story I think "I can finish that later" and so I just never get around to it, I have a bit left still.

Other games, like Marvel Puzzle Quest, has a heap of both PvE and PvP content there all the time and I _can't_ do it all (and can easily see that I can't) then I'm forced to limit myself and pick and choose and it's less stressful because the completionist part of my brain isn't triggered. It's the difference between "I think I can climb that tree." vs "I know I can't climb that tree." or something like that.

So part of the answer even for your problem isn't "don't give me more stuff I'll be forced to do" but rather "Give me _so_ much stuff to do that my brain will actually realise that and let me off the hook a bit."
