Yeah...I too do occasionally get the fear that Octagon is, in a metaphor in theme of the current sets, looting as much treasure as it can from a sinking mtgpq ship.

I wish I knew their average monthly revenue and the cost of maintaining and adding new game content.  I know that's something they'll never share.

Is there even a company website?  All I can find from searching is the Octagon sports industry and...of course...the shape
Oktagongames.com is the website. Also, wouldn't the publisher (D3Go) normally be handling the money? I don't think they're just handing Oktagon 100% of the revenue from the game, or anything close to it.
Thanks for sharing the website @ard021.  It's a lot smaller than I anticipated.

I had originally assumed that Octagon was in a joint-venture with D3 in a similar format to how D3 is partnered with WotC and would directly received at least a portion of the revenue.  However now I suspect they may just be a subsidiary.

Well, D3 Go doesn't own Oktagon.    D3 Go owns MtGPQ (and Puzzle Quest in general), with a license agreement from WotC to use the Magic property.  They hired Oktagon to develop the game, just like they hired Hibernum previously.  Generally, independent developers are paid royalties by the publisher.

To stay on topic, more story mode would be nice, but I think it needs to take a back seat to bug fixing at the moment.

I agree, bug fix first.  They rushed a lot of content out to catch up on the sets, now they need to take a moment and clean things up.

I’d like to see the daily challenge events (TotP & AIx) alternate the set from which their prize pack is offered - AKH & HOU, and XLN & RIX on alternate days/colors.  That way we’re not just picking up an excess supply of half the set block.

For Story Mode, here’s an idea:  convert the older non-coalition PvE events into Story events.  Then once per week reset one of them so that players can run through it to re-earn the progression rewards.  But also set the reward packs to match the set where the event was introduced.  No HOU packs in a KLD event.  New players will therefore have a chance and incentive to pick up some Legacy cards and a targeted place to use them.  Maybe put the corresponding set packs in the Vault the same week it’s Story PvE Event is unlocked.
There are enough Events in the history of the game that some of these are likely never going to be seen again, especially as new sets come out with more content.  And frankly I’d prefer the new stuff for coalition challenges.  (Though Avacyn’s Madness was a fun one while we were waiting for Ixalan’s release)

They could easily put hard mode then insane mode for all existing story lines.

I don't know about easily. They can't build an automated system to schedule events and need to do that manually, for which apparently manpower is limited. Creating hard and insane modes is probably a pipe dream.
