Please Buff 5* Silver Surfer

Gambit health @ 550: 103,708 HP

Strength: Gambit is a mutant who possesses the normal human strength of a man of his age, height, and build who engages in intensive regular exercise.

Known superhuman powers: Gambit has the mutant ability to tap into the potential energy contained within an object and transform it into kinetic energy. When Gambit thus charges an object with kinetic energy and throws it at a target, the object releases this energy explosive ( source: Marvel Directory)

Silver Surfer health@550: 102,599 HP

Known superhuman powers: The Silver Surfer can endow himself with Class 100 strength, enabling him to lift (press) over 100 tons. He possesses the Power Cosmic which he can use to generate powerful force blasts or to rearrange molecules. The Surfer travels on a "surfboard" which responds to his mental commands and is as indestructible as he is. He has a Cosmic Awareness which allows him to feel energy around him.( source: Marvel Directory )

Absolutely no way this should be the case. Cosmic Indestructibe space god has less health then “ average human who’s only mutant ability is throwing charged cards “. Further proof that gambit has completely disrupted the 5* tier and broken the entire game overall. Please buff SS to match thanos health ( 550 thanos : 140,408 HP ). Also why does gambits red cost the same as surfers yet at level 450 gambit does nearly the same damage as a 550 Surfer ?

Please Buff Silver Surfer. Thank you.

Surfer has already been buffed once. Please buff Phoenix first. I refer you to Fightmaster's new tier list as to why (ranked 3rd worst overall, well below SS).

Not opposed to a buff per se (SS is one of my better covered 5*s), but I just want to point out that star tier in MPQ only reflects rarity, not how 'strong' a character is considered to be in-universe. And in this game a higher rarity also translates to higher stats.

SS has true heal, hence why health pool is lower.

LOL pretty sure anyone without gambit just wants all their characters buffed right now.

Hey man, it's just a game.  The game's more fun when characters of the same tier have similar levels of performance despite the lore.

Also nerf court death. It’s unfair, I don’t have him and will never get him and it dominates pve and running loaners in pvp.

Make court death a countdown to slow down pve and give you a chance to match it in pvp (if you nerf gambits purple).

Embrace the power creep, it happens at every tier and it’s how they keep taking your money. Even if they nerf gambit there will be another and then another. I’m happy the old ones in classics are dead and dying, I can forget about drawing classics, like I’ve forgotten there are 4 stars in the game.

My big concern with surfer is that none of his powers actually utilize the surfboard. Animations, sure... but nothing in terms of powers. Goblin has a glider power, why can’t surfer have a surfboard power?

Please buff the 5 least used characters at each rarity. Because they probably suck.

Please nerf the 5 most used characters at each rarity. Because the forum meltdown would be amusing.

You're suggesting 5* Gambit is a higher rarity than 5* Silver Surfer? I could swear they are both supposed to be 5*s.

No, I'm suggesting '5* rarity', not 'individual cover rarity' (which is different when comparing latest to classics or other special 5* legendaries)
In-game performance says, well duh of course Gambit is a higher rarity than Surfer, the cardflinger blows surfboy away with is (thanks free AP and ridiculously OP powers!).

In-game pull rates suggest that (for now), Surfer is rarer than Gambit.

    Tangled webs, man, tangled webs.

Maybe we should grant Silvery Boi the power of webslinging so he can tangle to the max. Or some charged webby cards, even? Just don't let his black holes eat them.

Surfer doesn't need a nerf. Every other single character in the game needs a nerf so they look weak compared to Surfer.

And...this is a reason to leave Gambit and Surfer as is?  I would have argued that game balance kind of supports the opposite view, in this case.

Honestly, I feel like that this point they need to go thru and just rework ALL of the 5*s. Some of them are probably perfectly fine as is but a lot of them, especially the early releases, could use being brought up to a modern standard. Do it all at once to rip the band-aid off, and balance the entire tier. No 5* should be entirely dominant, and none should be a joke. And yes, I have Gambit. He's awesome. But it might be nice to use Doc Ock, or Starlord, or Archangel for something other than setting up grills. Even stuff like March damage has gone up and up and up. To be clear, I'm not saying nerf Gambit. I think with a few very small tweaks, he could go from Auto-choose to just Powerful, and there's nothing wrong with 5* being Powerful. Maybe just take him down a bit while bringing the really bad 5* up to a closer level, and the problem would be mostly solved.

No.  That's the reason why you shouldn't use lore to justify character changes.  Balance them for the gameplay, not the lore.  The lore is already messed up anyway - Juggs only appears at the 1* level, but there is a 5* (and 3* and 2* and 1* Hawkeye), and there are plenty of other examples where the lore doesn't fit the tier either....nor should it.

    Building on this...

Lockjaw has Royal Escort. Give Surfer a power to summon Galactus, who functions just like the boss version, except it should be the broken one when he was first released. After all, the enemy is supposed to lose.

For like the billionth time at a minimum, in-universe power does not correlate in any way to MPQ power. At least not intentionally.

And Surfer is fine since the buff he already got. Nobody is really in need of a buff except Banner and mayyyybe Ock. Gambit's godmode just makes everything else look like trash.

The strengths of SS are his true heal and immunity to stun. His low health is due to the nature of having true heal as an ability and this affects almost all characters with true heal.  All his abilities mainly focus on ap gain acceleration. Therefore,  the nature of SS is being a support character, whereas 5* Gambit is an offensive character. I think the comparison is unsuitable.

The nature of SS outside of MPQ are willingness to make sacrifices. If D3 were to turn him into an offensive character, I think there could be some self-damage to be done, if they were not to deviate a lot from SS.
