These stores don't bother me any. If I end up with a token for it, i'll pull it, but i'm not chasing it. I'm still at a point where my hp (minus a few experiments in pvp shielding that didn't go well) is 100% for opening up roster slots

The more likely is that the devs, in their infinite wisdom, think that they are helping us by making classic 5s a little more accessible.  If by more accessible you mean a 1 in 80 chance of a 1 in 20 chance.  I just don't think they thought it through completely.
Since they've done more generous offerings in the past I would disagree with that.  They want to make them more accessible, but more reasonable methods were too accessible so they are trying to make the illusion of accessibility hoping people throw cash at it.

    TL;DR:

It feels like a trend to me.  It seems like a lot of the new content and deals associated with them are getting burdened with impossible odds.  They gave us the "Popular 5*" store.  We liked that!  Here they do that again, but bury the token in a vault, which you can conveniently buy out for $100.  Sakaar tokens - chance at a 5*!  But you can only get them in limited quantities at the end of a week-long event, and even then you've got a better chance of being struck by lightning than drawing a 5* Thor.

The odds have never been great in this game, but all the recent offers are just so far beyond the pale that I'm not even considering spending money on it.

Got excited when I saw the pop up, as I thought maybe I finally had a chance at pulling that last IM cover I need...went to the store page fully prepared to drop some CP on the store, only to find that my slim chance of getting what I need is locked behind a 1:80 chance in another store...yea. Hard pass. :(:(

Well they did just give us the option to remove animations, so they had some goodwill to spend. I think the offer is not anywhere near worth the ask, so I can't even get mad at it.

Also this kinda bring up images of the idea of the drug dealer that gives a free sample of a new drug hoping to get you addicted.  They put out a feature that is widely liked (H4H, 5* latest stores, etc) then they put a steep paywall in front of it.

Every single one of these Free to Play/Pay to Win games is deliberately designed to tempt your wallet...

    * you can see the team that beat you - to tempt you to $$$ to buy those characters
    * 14 day expiry of characters - to tempt you to $$$ to roster them (or buy ISO to level them)
    * randomizing rewards has been proven scientifically to increase obsessive behavior in rats... if you give a pellet every time, the rats became less interested in pushing the button... but if it's random, they obsess over pushing the button, all day, every day.

So may others to list, but I'm tired after getting paged out at midnight.

    Dear whales,
Here is a store offering a good chance to cover Black Widow, Hawkeye, and 5*IM.  So after you buy all your HP, you can consider using some here.

Everyone else, thank you for playing Marvel Puzzle Quest!

    The Devs
But once again, it's an offer to a group of people that already bought their way into these characters.

The predatory tactics just continue to get worst. Guess they're not satisfied with just buy clubs anymore.

Up next is the X-Men United vault that contains 1 token for a chance at OML, Phoenix and Gambit!

For those of you interested in the numbers, I did a rough calculation of how much you'd expect to spend in the store to get 5* covers.

Note that this was a quick calculation and may well be totally wrong.

Assuming you buy 10-packs from the Avengers & Friends vault until you get the Avengers Assemble token, it would cost you about 9400 ISO per AA token: 2.5*3600 + 400 for resetting the vault (technically, your first 10-pack of the day would only cost you 2800 ISO, but since this is only around for 3 days, I'm ignoring that).

At Stark Salary prices, that would be about $47 per token.

If you had no covers for any of the 5*s and wanted to fully cover all three, you'd need to have around 273 tokens, and probably more like 315 (45*7) in case you get dupes. So that would cost you about $13,000-$15,000.

If you only needed one cover for a single 5* to finish it off, I calculate that you'd need about 48 tokens to have a 90% chance of getting that cover [1-(20/21^48)], which would cost about $2,250.

Actually, those numbers aren't as bad as I thought they'd be (assuming they're right) and there might actually be people who partake - not that I'll be one of them.

This is the most offensive cashgrab I‘ve ever seen. This can‘t be seriously made an offer. They announce „find TokenS“ (plural) in the announcement; in reality the vault holds a single token and you‘d have to spend on resetting a new vault. So technically they should have written „find tokens in the vaults“.

Technicalities aside: This offer is so bad that I doubt there will be more than 5 whale pulls of this store. I would love to see any reasoning behind this. You‘d make more money by putting 3 5‘s in a vault instead of this swaparoo token-store.

Apologize in advance for being negative.

I saw the pop up and the store this morning. The first thought that comes to my mind was "Huh, so after the good news about no animations, now it's time for an irritating news." I mean, seriously, can't we have a positive change that is not followed up by a bad one ?

I know I don't have to spend on it, but it is still bugging me.

Alex: it's sad to say, but mpq (and other games with the same freemium model) are not "gambling."  they are just gambling.
I think it's "gambling" because there are alternative methods of obtaining those rewards (using in-game currency earned for free by playing).  This is a completely different model than a slot machine where the only way to have a chance at winning the reward is by paying cash.  Yes, you're paying cash for in-game currency, but there are other things to spend it on as well, such as roster spots, health packs, etc.

    Why?

Why do offers (events you don't have to play, tokens you don't have to buy) bother you (or anyone) ?

You don't like it, you take a pass. Done.
Disappointment, I guess. I saw the pop up, I thought I may have a chance to fully cover Nat. Then I saw the odds...

I still have to believe they just screwed the pooch on timing a (holiday?) event which should produce tokens for this store. Trying to stay positive!

Right or wrong, we all have the ability to let them know when they are doing something we like or not.

I would rather people voice their opinions and have a debate on the merits of an idea, than to just stay silent and the devs assume everything they do is a great thing.

Personally, i dont mind the idea of more stores, but i am also bothered by the fact i can't use my stored up CP to purchase anything.

I can definitely see why people think this is a cash grab, and this continued process of putting out things with little or no communication, with no dialogue about the thoughts behind them only furthers our speculation.

No one is forcing you to buy the packs, I don't see why people have to make a big stink about something that they offer for you to buy.  Consumer goods means you don't have to buy it.

I want them to offer things for me to buy, i just want them to offer things that i CAN buy.  I have almost 800 CP.  Would love to get some more 5* covers for some classics, but they wont let me.  If we dont put a voice to the reasons ehy we arent buying this particular thing, how else would they know?

The variability in these special vaults is staggering. There are great offers like the Halloween Vault (IIRC it was 40 tokens with Nightcrawler and Ghost Rider for just a little more than a HFH purchase) which I'll happily pay for, and then there are things like this which are so bad as to not be believed. 1:80 chance to get a 1:7 chance? Really?

I looked at all the event to see what rewarded these tokens. Felt really stupid when I couldn't figure it out. I'm gald it wasn't just me.
