Someone in Anniversary Simulator hit me with a newly champed Gambit level 468, paired with Surfer (529) and Black Bolt (550). I decided not to mess with retaliating. Guess I don't blame him for wanting to try the new toy, even against my defending team of Daken, Wolverine (both 144 2*s), and Storm (level 50 1*). It's not like my max of 239 roster could have retaliated though.

Wow. Gambit is definitely next on the list to get nerfed. The next meta is going to be focused around him. He's able to fire off his red almost every other turn, and it's hitting for over 30k. As a fan of hawk eye+coulson+marvel, this addition has made me sad
How is 30k possible?  The damage I read of a 452 Gambit is that it deals 7700 damage per charge tile destroyed, and that's capped at 2 tiles.

Either exageration, either cascades ? An explanation would be nice.

I’m thinking of possible teammates for him in 4* tier (since my Black Bolt is fairly unusable at 1/2/0) and Agent Coulson is coming to my mind. Even though you weren’t able to use Phil’s purple, his passive abilities would work well with Gambit‘s Ragin’ Cajun.

When Gambit‘s four CD tiles dissolve, you wouldn’t only do 21.3k damage in total, but also
Coulson‘s blue passive would do ~1k bonus damage per tile and you would gain 2 AP per tile (not to forget the turbo boost when you have enough Team-Up AP).

In PVE nodes with lots of goons this pair will be devastating!

Very much enjoying him with surfer and black bolt. That is a very nice combo

Add Carol as a third and you have a great team. Coulson already works well with Carol, and Gambit CDs would only help both of them.

Wow he works so well with Surfer. Since blue targets the color you want to be charged, Gambit spends 7 red to pick up 6 AP from those specific charged tiles. Sure, the next time the charged tiles are a random color but that's still great if you bring a 3rd for a rainbow team.
Can't wait to play more against color-specific charged tile makers like Rags etc where you can plan a big hitter for that color of charged tiles.

When does Gambit enter the Latest tokens ?

Is it 2 weeks after his store expires ? Or 2 weeks after his release finished ? Or 2 weeks from what ?

What is the estimated date of his arrival in packs ?

In the 3* node for the GotG event, I used Xpool thinking how great he'd be with Gambits passive!

Until the fight started and I remembered the other part of his passive...

Wow that's inconvenient. But i understand it'd probably be broken otherwise.

Yup I'm planning to use Surfer 5/3/5 with Gambit, when I get the latter covermaxed, hopefully by late February just before he leaves Latest, if my estimated calculations are correct.

For a third, the ideal is of course Black Bolt, but Starlord would be a decent alternative to Boltagon.

I was playing around with Surfer + Gambit + Quill. My Gambit is at 0/1/1, so I've been spending Purple via Star-Lord instead. It's not a bad team, but seems a bit slow compared to Gambit + Bolt. It also doesn't help that most of the Symbiote teams have Green as their strongest colour, so Star-Lord's Yellow hasn't been cascading quite so much.

Anything will feel slow compared to Gambit and Bolt.

    @vinsensual, @D4Ni13

Gambit is apparently boosted 80+ levels in the Punisher PvP event. I fought a dude running him I think at 550 and can personally confirm that his red does deal 30K worth of damage straight at that level. Wasn't a pretty fight (x 。x)

So 5* gambit does 14k damage (at 450) for 7 red ap as long as there are 2 charged tiles on the board.  And he generates 3 red ap per turn.  And he gets 6 random ap, plus creates 2 more charged tiles, every time he spend 7 red ap to do 14k damage?

    That seems. . .good.

Chances are you won’t be running a 5 red gambit unless you want to nerf his ap gen or his purple

I think the build is gonna be 3/5/5 or 4/4/5 for Gambit.  I use War Machine a lot, and to me 2 turn Gatling Guns aren't that trustworthy to go off, while Gambit's red can probably be fired every other turn and is instant damage.  Could be 5 purple for special tile removal or if paired with Hawkeye or another countdown tile based character.

I dunno, his purple looks much scarier than his red, I can’t wait to plug black holes with his playing cards

Just realized some great synergy between him and Rogue. If someone on the opposite team has Red or Purple as their strongest color, you can use Rogues Green on them and Gambits Black Passive ensures they're getting nuked every other turn.

Rogue won't collect double or triple AP if that AP is generated from other sources than tile matching.

Purple is good, but red is the real damage maker. Paired with 4thor or blackbolt or surfer or lockjaw or mordo, he just does devastating self propelled damage. The red is sooo much cheaper and easier to fire. Purple is also CD tiles and they get matched away. Red is his most reliable nuke
