Punisher or LazyThor?

  • While strike tiles are generally overpowered, you're comparing a generally overpowered ability to someone who is way overpowered. Strike tiles are powerful, but not THAT powerful. Even for PvE, Call the Storm will almost certainly do more damage than 2 Judgments even with Magneto on your team. Also no character with 5800 HP can withstand even one move against the ultra high level PvE opponents who do about 6-7K per move at level 395, and ironically those are the guys you need Retribution the most for but good luck getting The Punisher alive there.

Punisher historically has been featured in a lot of PvE's, although Lazy Thor is relatively new so it's a bit unfair to compare.
Punisher is also featured in the lightning rounds and levelling him would be good to progress in the LR's too get more covers for Patch, Spidey, Hulk, IM40 and Grey Widow.
    He's a good all rounder.

Thor however is tankier, does more damage and is generally a stronger character who will probably serve you really well in PvP and PvE alike buffed or unbuffed.
Thor would probably be a better choice generally although Punisher would probably be better in the long run if you intend of making good use of heroic lightning rounds.
LR tokens have been nerfed, so outdated a bit

Not really. LR's are still a good form of ISO and a really good way to get cover tokens.

What is best done by harvesting seed teams and not require any special character really. I hope you agree that a 100+ LT can deal with the harvesting alright without buffs. going over 100 pts in LR is just not worth it really -- and if you just want to play fast games for the 70/140 shield and regular pvp is probably way better than LR. Especially with the new matchmaking that supplies half-done * teams.
  • LazyThor would by my suggestion as well. As of yesterday, he's my first (and only) 141 character and I don't regret putting the ISO into him at all. He's devastating on offence, and his high health and AI proof abilities make him an effective defensive player.

I will say Punisher is better than I thought though. I never thought much of him until I ran up against him yesterday and he got a really lucky cascade early on. His abilities are so cheap compared to Thor that he ripped through most of my team really quickly with strike tiles and Molotovs. He's definitely someone I'm going to be levelling up to at least 100 as soon as I get the ISO for it.
  • While I agree with mostly everything being said here there are a few things I would like to point out.

1st- yes lazy Thor is a monster on both offense and defense, but his abilities are quite expensive and easy to counter with an ap stealer. So although he does tons of damage with his abilities and cascades the odds of getting them off on defense aren't very high.

2nd- punisher is just as good as Thor if not better on offense. I often find myself running him with obw and combining his cost 8 ap for strike tiles with the double dip damage from obw is devastating.

In my opinion over the course of a battle punisher is better in drug out situations. I've dished out thousands of damage in each turn with punisher and obw. If you want quick matches on offense by using call of the storm you can run Lt but, in my opinion you are more vulnerable on defense.

I've been running Punisher with a 5/5/3 Magneto and it's even more devistating. Once Punisher gets his green off, Magneto can spam his red and blue and usually the match ends in a hurry.

That being said, I'd still max Thor out first.

If you're going to cmag spam, might as well patch instead though

I dunno, Pun + cMags has been working very well for me. It's not exactly the Patch + cMags glory and speed, but I don't even need those as I don't aim for 1 minute boosted victories to achieve 1300 points in a PvP. Honestly Retibution at 40% is just invaluable in PvE against high health enemies. It doesn't need to be built around like TBTI.
  • I welcome 141 Punishers, regardless of the other two characters on the team. My 141 Thor has no problems cleaning up.

    I hit skip against 141 Thor if he's got a 120+ friend.
  • if you fail to control lazy thor when against him, you end up with a hammer in the face. Level the one with the max covers
