Horrible event.

Horrible decision to create "standard format."

My one-time favorite mobile game is now a blazing dumpster fire.

Good job guys.

I won't grind events like that when dupes are such a commonality.  The only reason to try your butt off is to get the packs, except everytime i get a pack to open I feel queasy cause I know I'm going to be getten them runes.

Could you elaborate? I personally finds no issue with standard.  The only issue I find is that the event requires select cards to be repeatedly used in order to pass the round. Not much different from when it wasn't standard....*cough* needed a pre-nerf Baral to lock up round *cough*...

I spent a lot of time crafting really solid, consistent decks for all of my Planeswalkers. Those decks now are unusable in a number of events. I am not going back and rebuilding decks for every Walker I have (which is all of them). It's completely unrewarding to disassemble optimized decks and fill them with weaker cards. Nope. If I feel the need to play again, I'm Training Grounds, and any event that lets me use all of my cards. Everything else can go pound sand.

The issue is these event battles seem to be made at a challenge level for people who already have a full Amonkhet collection.  For those of us with only a few cards, and the vast majority of our collections invalid, these fights are just ridiculous (I miss my Kiora Eldrazi, it would clear out the final node easy).  Combine that with the fact that the app crashes every few minutes, and the event is just not great.  Maybe in a few months it'll work better when everyone has better cards

Better cards...  That would require us to receive new cards when we open packs. Problem is I just flew through the event and beat Tezz to get both of the AKH packs and pulled nothing but dupes when I have maybe half of the commons and uncommons and only three rares out of the set, no mythics.  Oh and by the way I've opened around 25 A KG packs.  10 of which came from the 300 Crystal buys, so 2 we're guaranteed but we're the lands which are good but there's so much better;  these combos people keep talking about that I dream of.

I get your frustration, but for many of us this is exactly what we did want.  There is only so many times I can run Deploy Olivia, Pig, Emrakul or run a Kiora loop deck with ulvenwald hydra and waterviel.  The game was getting super boring and super easy.  Both of those decks could beat any boss every time.  The only way to get me to adjust decks was put annoying objectives like cast 5 vehicles or energize 5 gems as secondary objectives.

Standard has completely changed my deck makeup and I am really enjoying the new format.  I mean, I still hate FiRF... I wish they didn't make ToZ so godlike as people are getting their feet wet in standard, but all in all its a welcome change.

Keep in mind, that we are all struggling in this event. Every member of our coalition has lost at least 1 game.. and we are winning the event by a decent margin still.  Losing nodes was a rarity before the inclusion of standard.  Some people are embracing it and some are hating it.

I'm not struggling with the event at all. I'm simply not participating.

The game getting super boring and super easy for some players could have been addressed by adding new card sets, without restricting current cards.

So those of us who don't like the standard format are forced to be unable to use many of our cards, to force bored players into creating new decks.

Sounds like a whole lot of forcing everybody to do stuff.

I don't like it, and I'm not embracing it at all.

Daily rewards and non-standard play for me moving forward.

I was a happily paying and playing customer, but no more.

New cards are only fun if they are superior to your existing cards or at least as playable.  So if they wanted to keep players engaged they had 3 options.

    1. Continue power creep which has shown to consistently destroy games over time.

    2. Nerf outstanding cards so that the new set is the most powerful (Want to talk about enraging the community?)

    3. Introduce standard formats so that players are forced to use a limited set.

Again, I get your frustration.  But you can't satisfy all the people all the time.

Nerfing existing cards would have been far more palatable to me than creating the standard format.

Sure that's subjective, but I would've chosen that in a heartbeat.

Personally I would have loved a balance pass on the older sets. But a rotating format does a lot to keep the game feeling exciting and fresh. Just look at Standard in the paper game and the prices of its all star cards, many of which will see limited to no play in eternal formats once they rotate out. I look forward to building up a decent AKH pool. And who knows? Maybe with the new dupe system coming out we may actually get to chase some cards we specifically want.

It does seem like they should try and satisfy maybe a couple more people than they are currently.

Yep. I have been a staunch defender of every change up until this one. I'm out.

the dupe system is supposed to be coming out in a few months.  if you won't especially miss the runes, i'd hold on to dupes just in case.

as a non paying player since i play the paper version, i used to enjoy the grind. mostly because they got neat prizes.

    that basic booster at 200points....seriously?

the dupe rates is crazy on this set.

i do enjoy the standard format in this version, but this version for trial unlike the previous ones for avacyn and tez, simply isnt worth the effort.

For all those who speak of loving challenges, that's great! PvP needs Standard imho at least. That said, making gods that have multiple masterpieces that would challenging with even the highest of octane full set decks and then expecting people to come at them with inferior life totals, card selection, etc. is the height of silliness, especially when the point goals have stretched out, the winnings are far less substantial, etc. Look, there is a reason this event has turned into a slow moving debacle, and I'd argue that the people here who do like it represent a small minority compared to the people who dislike it. We are just more vocal.

Yeah, I don't know why progression was so hard to achieve this time.  Especially considering it is a lousy single booster with a 5% chance of a mythic.  I assume they will tune the event down to die a bit faster next week, but if they don't change the boss stats then virtually no one will get progression.

This is like the Eurozone of 2012... so austerity isn't working... how about MORE AUSTERITY!  BRILLIANT!

The duplicate rate on Amonkhet is partially due to the fact that there are at least another 35 cards to be added into the game from this set alone before Hour of Devastation is added to the Amonkhet packs in July/August. I would recommend if you're running into a lot of them, start holding on to your packs until the rest of the cards are added.

But as for the rest, yeah.... the rewards for this event are not really worth the effort to obtain them. We're this far in, and even being able to consistently clear the third node, I still haven't yet even made full progression. Add to that the boss is still over 70% health, and I think it's fair to assume many are struggling to get through it as well. Generally speaking these kind of events offered a rare card guaranteed at full progression, usually event specific, but sometimes just a random one from the set. This time, getting all the way to 850 points only gets you an Amonkhet pack, probably with all duplicate commons and uncommons in it.
