    - I'm not sure where these dramatic readings came from...but it's worth it for Ray's "accent"
    - 'Cucumber is one of my favorite flavors' something no one has every said before today
    - Ian just going for it with poor opinions today. Who is pro-raisin but spektical on Guardians vol. 2?
    - I had to push my 2/5/2 Sue the Shooter up to level 100 to beat Quicksilver. Drax should be coming up in two cycles, interesting to see who he's matched up with
    - It's almost as though the spreadsheet was updated weekly. You'll get an ingraved invitation next time
    - That last node on Backup Plan is a KILLER!
    - 'Fnord is a word I've very familiar with'
    - hashtag neutral frap base
    - He's mentioned it before, but I really like Craig's idea of an endless wave, just for fun
    - My Old Man Logan is a 5/5/0 level 405 and even with his recent 'nerf', he's still awesome
    - My vine will be washed away by Monday with 8 Mordos, 7 Bum Fists, 5 Luke Cages, 4 Coulsons and 3 Riris. Two are getting champed, but WHAT two?
    - My reward of the week was a Bagman, putting him at level 131

My daughter, although 3 at the time and not capable of constructing that exact sentence, requested (and recieved) a cucumber-flavored birthday cake. So I must respectfully disagree with you, sir.

Did you enjoy it? Also, I'd love to see a pic of said cake.

Yeah it was pretty good. Same idea as cucumber water.

My wife definitely gets all the credit for pulling it off:

Very impressive indeed, but not something I'd put anywhere near my face. Hey, my wife's idea of a snack is eating pickles dipped in A1 sauce, and I enjoy eating lard straight out of the can, so different strokes for different folks! :D

Ahh they moved this from general discussion, which makes no sense. Clearly the Mods don't listen to the podcast because there's nothing more general and off topic about MPQ than this podcast. Which can clearly be backed up from character of the week, which this week felt like I was watching a kid at school trying blag he'd done his homework but flinging together any random bit of knowledge he had, when he'd be better placed to just say the dog ate my homework.

As funny as it was I had to take two paracetamol after OML character of the week! :D

Good show, but it had to be time for another guest! As good as the shows are they are my favourite.

So, I've been going back and listening to all of these episodes from the beginning while on the T. It's been an awesome trip down memory lane with the changes in this game over the last two years.

    A couple of highlights

    1) The Porkins edit from ~ep 30? Comic gold

    2) Funny how op Flaptain looked to be at the time of release, and yet, by the time I had him at a useful lvl, *sad trombone*

    3) Craig and his love affair with SwitchFistCage, to the point that Ian stops bothering to ask him for FCOTW (week week week week) build suggestions

4)I've got a fever, and the only prescription, is more singing...           and Cinnabon

5)The amount of things that you guys have suggested, then subsequently wound up in the game, is not only impressive, but, also makes me think that the lack of Dazzler is just a massive Craig troll at this point

    6)

    7) It just so happens I'm in a pvp simulator slice with this guy Whooly1. After hearing all of the repeated times people have had this happen and been encouraged to hit him with extreme prejudice, I have zero remorse about going in for the double tap.

    8) Sidenote #1: It seems like every single simulator team this season has at least two of the following. Peggy, Medusa, C4rol, Wasp, Carnage.

    9) Sidenote #2: I usually would agree with Craig about never spending cp on a single cover, however, when Peggy got vaulted, I had her at a 5/5/2. I bought the third blue for 120 cp, dumped ~250k iso in to champ her, and WOW!

    De

    Va

    Sta

    Tion!

    TL;DR

    Keep it up, men!

Also, +1 to the list of Jeffs who like this show.

Edit:  I forgot, Punisher teams. At the beginning of my 4* transition, Fury was my first champed 4*. For a short time, I used a team of 5/5/3 Punisher, 5/5/3 Fury and 5/5/3 Falcon(pre-buff). Cheap-ish special tiles from Pun, being boosted by Falcon as you build yellow for Fury. Not the best team I've ever used, but it worked well on the old Enchilada.

Thanks for the content as always.

I think your discussion with regard to vaulting is still a bit misguided.  There aren't too many players who don't like being able to cover new characters faster.  That's a good thing!

The debate is whether the "costs" of vaulting (ie drastically reducing progression of vintage 4*s and adding a shot clock to building new characters) outweigh the benefits.  IMO they don't, and most importantly there are many different fixes that demi could inplement to solve a lot of the problems, preserve the benefits, and keep the game profitable.  Instead demi has offered vintage heroic tokens and disingenuous answers about why they haven't made better fixes.  But you have indicated that the issue is out of bounds for you so i will leave it there.

Turning to OML, 5/5/3 remains the only way to build him.  His healing is weaker, but his self damage from red is the same.  Without 5 yellow he is very likely to render himself useless with self damage before the enemy even bothers with him.  And yes, he still puts out a lot of damage.  That's never been his problem.  The issue is that it takes collecting 19 ap (and waiting a turn) just to cast his yellow power twice.  He takes a long tine and a ton of ap to actually get to his damage.  And it's now noticeably harder to keep him alive long enough to do that.  His ubiquity (since mid 2016 at least) has much more do with the game's dependence on grinding as a mechanic than it did with his strength in any given match.  Nerfing him didn't make the strongest rosters weaker relative to everyone else, it just made grinding a little more difficult for players who leveled OML and now must use him for their scaling.

Also, does OML mean that 5*s are now fair game for the featured character segment?  Or should we expect a return to 4*s?

Sorry if this post didnt have enough melodrama for the forums (as described on your show at least!).  I will try to be more whiny and entitled next time.  ;)

The thing I always remember, is that throughout everything, d3/demi have seemed to do whats in the best interests of the game, and, IMO, usually come out on the right side of things, even if it does take a while. Experience has shown me that it's a good thing to be cautious, and if you make a change, stick to it in the short term to get a realistic response, and be careful not to react hastily if immediate feedback is negative.

People hated the initial "buff" to Carnage, but now he seems to be better than ever. IW got a buff after a long time. St4r lord was "trash tier", now he's (IMO) awesome.

Are there things that could be better? Of course. Pvp simulator is currently flooded with the better of the new 4*(due to power creep and vaulting, I suspect). I fully expect some sort of adjustment to either vaulting, or the required missions, in the next 6-12 months. I mean, if it means a largely f2p game will have more longevity, I'm willing to put up with it.

What about my post made you think that i had not taken those factors into account?  Not snark, just want to know why my statement didnt (to you) seem to balance competing factors.

Demi makes some changes that are good for demi, some that are good for players, and some that are an honest attempt to make things better for everyone.

To suggest that demi only makes good changes or always fixes bad changes is wrong.  Shield cooldowns suck and have been around for 2+ years.  Sentry was nerfed into the ground and is still there.  And carnage is a terrible example to use in support of patience in the wake of vaulting.  Carnage was nerfed and buffed in less time than it took for demi to roll out vintage heroics.  Carnage is the poster child for quick course corrections.

Imo vaulting + bh is a poor compromise that ends up weighting the game in demi's favor relative to players (for reasons stated ad nauseum elsewhere).

--Craig and I have already disagreed about this on Facebook but I'll say it here, too: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is a great movie except for the importance & use of the song "Brandy" which I loathe.
--Speaking of Craig being wrong, I think everybody heard him say "I busted a telephone pole today."
--Last time Carnage was up for Crash of the Titans, my level 100 5/3/3 Carnage didn't have much trouble. That wasn't true this time. It took a dozen attempts and he even became 5/3/4 halfway through. His automatically generating Attack tiles did NOT help me out.
--The "Back-up Plan" mini PVE was also a lot of fun, just like Star-Lord's had been. I love new content and this is an enjoyable story.
--I also had advanced warning not to update the game and was able to spread the word to my alliance members that use iOS.
--Even though I use Doctor Strange and Thanos together everyday, I recognize that Court Death shouldn't trigger off of Flames of the Faltine. I'll miss it if the fix this but I'll understand it.
    --Craig: "Furiku! Totsuzenhen'i-tai!"
--Marvel is being added to ComiXology but not the entire library available through Marvel Unlimited.
--The endless wave situation doesn't scare me. Stormfinite for the win.
--My 5-star Wolverine is 1/4/1. I mainly use him with 3-star Thanos in Lightning Rounds to quickly burn through the feeder teams. I didn't sell him when he was Nerf'd because I'm not a reactionary numbskull.
--An Elite token gained me another Daredevil cover and that Champion level was cover #14 for Elektra so she's my newest 4-star Champion.
--I'm at 13 covers for Luke Cage (Power Man) but holding covers I can't currently use for Quake, Agent Coulson, and Spider-Woman so I'm not applying ISO to any of them right now.

In Craig's defense, I heard him correctly the first time. The fallout was still hilarious.

Somehow, my 2/3/3 lvl 131 Carnage managed it on the first try with no boosts >.> I was sure he was going to let me down, but he did not.

I enjoyed the mechanical content, but not the writing. When every character has a single portrait for interacting with others, a dialog bubble containing only "Ummm.....", or "..." doesn't cut it for me, especially when the entire conversation is full of these.

There are no winners on the internet. Only sad, lonely, cold, sleepless nights of caffeine and grinding. Well, that, and something having to do with rule 34.

It's only taken me 27 years of using the internet, from the days of dial up, but I did it in the end! Found the only person on a chat forum to find a post that makes them change their stance.

    I owe you one drink!

    A) Hold your horses, hurry up harry, I used the qualifier "may". I only allowed for the theoretical possibility. It would have broken the NSA tracking sub-routine if I'd actually admitted anything like a change of heart, thereby crashing the internet.

    2) I gift my drink to Craig for the next episode, as I can only imagine how hilarious his "slurry-aoke" would be.
