I don't know what "moving into Platinum" means... Is this meant for Another forum?

Looking at the OPs post history, I agree.

Thanks for the comments. Yes this was meant for Magic the Gathering Puzzle quest. And Platinum is the top league where you get only matches with the top players

Just because some people are on LINE or Discord doesn't mean that they should have information withheld. I think the entire MPQ forums, and the community at large, deserve to know about Platinum just as much as the "insiders" do. We've all seen the secret Dev chats, and the cat's out of the bag now, so might as well spill the beans.

When I'm bored I sometimes visit MPQ forums just to see how their polite screaming of dissatisfaction with the creators of our games looks like. It's kind of visiting a person who is a friend without knowing them really. All the same concerns, futile fights for a better game, anger and disappointment.

I moved to Platinum actively about 2 weeks ago.
I don't regret it (would be too late anyway ^^).
But I have to say that you better have enough removals in your disposal since you face more nasty creatures and supports. In black I lack some the good removals and that cost me two games in the last event... May be, may be not. ;-)

For your poll, it lacks a neutral option and it has too few options. I can't place my opinion in between these two extremes.

If it's worth it... Regarding PVE events, it totally is. You face the same difficulties but get more rewards.
For PVE... You have to consider to be one or two categories lower in your leaderboard because the first 25 places are regularly top scores. Besides that you have too consider to drop secondary objectives to be able to win.

I like platinum in general.. Only time I wished I could move back was, when I recognized I could win SOI, origins, et cetera boosters from events in lower tiers

I am platinum in all five colors. It's really a fun process playing with junk and making it work.  I did discover numerous cards that were better in reality than I expected.  It is a shame that once you reach platinum there is no further incentive to play non-killer cards.

There was a perverse incentive to stay in the lower tier for a while but that seems to have been eliminated with the nerfing of the QB and event rewards.  I would like to see an incentive to continue with mastery of cards.

Playing with 3 or 5 non-mastered cards would make a great secondary objective. Because clearly anybody with Olivia has mastered it the first day they got it.  Much of the current staleness is due to the fact that only a certain percentage of the cards are top-quality and thus they get overplayed.

maybe you should add the options :
    - I don't know since I avoid moving up
    - I don't know since I don't play long enogh to move to platinum

Great to see a lively discussion around this topic. I will move up then so that I can also cast my vote :)

@DaddyO: agree with you on the reverse disincentive of not mastering and playing cards. I think it's fun to play other sub-optimal cards and get a feel for alternatives

@Laeuftbeidir: I aimed for a clear cut discussion on the pros & cons of Platinum only. The 3rd group would have been interesting though ;)

I have been avoiding moving up, so this is an interesting discussion for me. Since I've been hoarding Kaladesh packs, I expect that an influx of new energy cards will put me over the top into Platinum soon.

That said, yes... there are so many cards that I would be interested in trying but do not because I'll get spanked in events playing sub-optimal builds.

Events should be tailored to require card types to even join. Maybe a peasant deck event, or a Kaladesh event that requires a deck with 4 dwarves to enter... something different that would make us play with some of these cards no one ever uses.

I'm not going to tool around with a Westvale Abbey/Ormendahl deck, only to face a pig on turn three.

Like your idea with the peasant and other theme events. Would be fun to give other cards also a legitimate space. And players with such decks and good game skills a shot at good rewards. Not only power plays but diversity

Once Kaladesh is gone, however, you won't need to use those new energy cards, so you should be safe. It'll be the Amonkhet embalm/cycle cards you need to worry about.

Regret it? Never! I've come here to compete at the top level and that's what I'm gonna do!

Actually, I wouldn't say no to an extra tier being added on top of it...

I like the rewards, but no one likes playing a game where they lose more than they win. I'll often go through treks in Platinum where I lose 5, 10 matches in a row, and I seriously consider quitting the game entirely. I play the game to have fun, and being in platinum has made the game less fun.

I stay around because I still like the PvE events, but dread playing coalition PvP events. I'm at the point now where I don't play PvP events at all if they aren't coalition events.
