It's so far taken a month longer to release AKH than it did for KLD.
There's no reason to expect AKH should be ready by now.

Design work can only start after the devs see the paper card designs.  By the measure of time from paper pre-release events to mtgpq release, AER took 2 weeks, and AKH has been 2 weeks so far, for a set we can expect to be over 3 times the size of AER.  KLD took 10 weeks, although that was when they were still playing catch-up.

I'll also put it out there that careful card design is, perhaps, a teensy bit more important than rushing to release at the earliest possible date.
I guess we have to get used to this pace of release, then... Thanks, this is really interesting for someone who doesn't play paper version for a long time.
And (for the future) we need new content while we are waiting for a new set. Please.... Not only a new small pool of cards impossible to get and game improvements but new things to play.....

In the past 24 hours, the lack of anything to grind on Puzzle Quest has forced me to do things like read books, engage in outdoor physical activity, and even speak to human beings face-to-face.

And the issue with that banner that has popped up is ....... compete against what.  There is nothing to do

This game is getting boring. No new cards or exciting rewards on the horizon. The base of the game is really good, but there is nothing in the moment to gor for right now.

Maybe they can redesign some of the less used PWs, e.g. Chandra 2.0. That would be an "easy" & quick way for a new game experience

What have they been doing in that time, during which, for the first time in MTGPQ, they have not been playing catchup?
A good question.  Possibilities that spring to mind (in rough order of estimated likelihood):
    • Masterpieces, pack redesign, reward redesign, deck slots, etc (already happened!)
    • Letting their contractors go in the down-time (Must work to budget)
    • Fixing bugs (We can wish)
    • Adding story mode for AKH (Hope springs eternal)

Check out the links in my signature. If you ask me these guys are overdue for a upgrade/redesign.

Once you actively decide to go to platinum and start to master all cards that you own.... You have quite a lot to do!
Of course, may not be entertaining for you.

I missed the training grounds today as well.

    @Brigby
    Any official comment on that?
The coalition events were purposefully removed to avoid continued issues with coalition rewards not being awarded to players, however I'm unaware of whether it was intentional or not for the other events to be missing as well.

Looking in the game, it appears that the normal schedule of events has returned, and I will be sure to discuss the topic of this weekend's scheduled event with the team this week.
