I am primarily looking forward to seeing the new cards, and how closely they align with my ideas for Amonkhet cards.

(One of my hobbies is making Puzzle Quest cards from Paper cards - I've already begun making PQ cards for Amonkhet, I will likely post my designs when the whole set list has been released icon_e_biggrin.gif)

I know that banking unopened packs until the next release used to be a thing, but has anyone considered the fact that once the next set is released, KLD packs will no longer have a chance to spawn a masterpiece?

The strategy of banking packs may no longer be applicable. Yes, if you didn't buy Baral, you could bank packs. But won't you miss out on any of the cards that our favourite opponents seem to have already added to their decks (especially the ones that weren't in the elite packs)?

I don't know that it's been stated but it seems like a logical conclusion.
Masterpieces are only available right now through the current set so I would assume that when the Amonkhet set comes out they would only be available in that set.
I don't know that for certain but if that's the case and you are chasing the masterpiece cards it may be wise to crack open any KLD packs you have hoarded before the new set drops.

I get the feeling the current masterpieces will stay with KLD and the new set will have it's own masterpieces.

My understanding was that they were including masterpieces in the current set rotation.

    I didn't consider that.

Amonkhet will have its own masterpieces plus the masterpieces in KLD even have KLD and AER set symbols so it would be pretty unreasonable to add cards from this set to Amonkhet.

Where's the "I'm not looking forward to it." option?

I can't wait til halfway through the Hour of Devastation expansion when I finally get one of the good AKH mythics that allows me to compete in events with whatever the new mechanic is!

You mean it'll help you compete in events like how Yahenni does?

Shteev, it's clear that they will be taking this expansion literally too. Amonkhet will bring the dawn of a new era . An era where only whale gods in a single coalition rules all! The rest of us non spenders won't be able to compete because we can't do the objectives with only getting 1-3 mythics per set that we will be getting now.

With the current system of dupe infested elite packs?
    Such an optimist.

Amonkhet Masterpieces are starting to be spoiled here.

By crikey, these things are ugly.

It's blue. You can tell by the flashes of blue around the card border. Also the blue mana symbols at the top of the card, although they have chosen not to make those blue.

The UI/UX team at D3 are already planning some blue-based changes to this card.

Lies. Everything's going to become a boring shade of beige, and you know it.

Its not that bad. If people can stomach the masterpiece borders for KLD they certainly should be able to stomach this.

It's not that ugly, it's just terrible from a user friendly standpoint. They are hard to read and get meaningful information from.
