I saw it mentioned earlier in the thread, but couldn't help repeat it once more:

Great new special offers have arrived!
You've been afraid that the new currency is scarce and hard to obtain. Fear no more:

550 precious pink crystals for 99$. Let that sink! Save yourself nearly 37 days of grinding and 2200 crystals. It's pure value, you could even try to get one of that elusive masterpieces. Perhaps it might be not your lucky day (3 out of 8 with unknown weights), so you'll have to buy a special offer once again, but worry not - all have been sprinkled with generous amount of jewels.

I'm fine with hard to obtain new currency for all, I'm fine with near-month grinding for a chance of a masterpiece card, but direct purchase of copious amounts of the new currency...I find that a bit too much. D3 could have just skipped all that **** with that update and be honest and tell us that they wanted to introduce premium paid currency.

In paper Mtg, we get 1 mythic for every 7 rares opened, and 1 masterpiece for every 143 rares, or 15 mythics.

In mtgpq, according to a the collated results by span, we get about 1 mythic for every 5 rares.

There was never a reason to think masterpiece was the same rarity as mythics.

And.there has never been a reason to think that was the point of this thread....smh

Just a few posts up bud.
Someone I know also paid out, and got Yahenni.

She's the worst card in the bunch. I'm starting to suspect that the masterpiece:mythic drop ratio is going to be similar to mythic:rare---so that even if there are 3 masterpieces and 5 mythics, the chances of drawing a masterpiece are not, indeed, 3/8.

So it should be assumed we are willing to spend $80 for a chance at getting a masterpiece card and an equal chance to get Yahenni? Yeah, I will pass on that one. But the reality is, there's probably plenty of suckers who've already done it....

Ha... i wont lie. I spent the $80 to see the new update results. Funny you said yaheeni (who i already have) as a draw result.... cause thats exactly who i got.

If the unobtanium is that difficult to get, then make the cards less likely for dups or more likely for masterpieces.

That was an uneventful outcome for my money.

Meanwhile, I opened my last saved KLD Fat Pack and guess what I got? A (dupe) Yahenni! icon_rolleyes.gif

I'd really like a few of these "Masterpieces" (they can stuff their Ornithopter), but I swear that getting a dupe of a **** mythic from a month-long grind or $79+ is going to make me lose interest in the game faster than any bug or power creep.

I had never been disappointed in an update before this one.

    Wow. It's seriously ridiculous.

What's even the point of offering the first few cycles if no one can get them?

If they're gonna make them that hard to obtain, at least make it grindable by allowing us to play more than once a day. The value is there. It's the limit that's the problem.

Make it unlimited events and I don't even mind if you raise the price of entry slightly to compensate.

Players who buy everything on sale in Vault now can buy their first pull from the Masterpiece Slot Machine right away. I assume that's the purpose of the first cycle. And I oppose to making jewels fully grindable - we have QB for that.

If the events providing the jewels are such bad value as everyone says, what's your objection to letting me grind them from the events? What unfair advantage are you thinking I'll gleam from this? Share!

I did purchase a couple of the D3 bundles and used my 400 Unobtainium to buy an Elite Pack. I did not get a MasterPiece. I did get what I would consider an ehh, its an alright card. I got Kari Zev. Is it worth what I spent, thats highly unlikely but at least it wasnt a dup.

That's assuming that there's an equal chance of getting each card in the pool. There is plenty of speculation that the Mythics are weighted more heavily than the Masterpieces, and that some Mythics are rarer than others (like Dyanvolt being rarer than Yahenni, despite being the same "rarity").

Yes, but even if you are lucky enough to get a masterpiece, there's a chance it's Lightning Grieves... Maybe I'd prefer Yahenni over a card whose value really only kicks in if you get just the right set of three masterpiece cards in play in the same match?

I just realized that the chances of someone getting Lightning Greaves and the other 2 triplets is pretty astronomical.
