The reason UC caused so many problems is that it was immune to kill spells. You either needed two steps (disable + kill) or to bounce (restricted to blue at the time). In addition, it would damage your creatures. Platinum Angel shows no signs of immunity and will not harm your creatures so it would only be a potential threat if given hexproof and constantly buffed. Seems like a great way to shift tempo but it is not unmanageable. A doubly-reinforced Hixus is a much larger threat.

Very true, i'm not suggesting it's on the same level, just that i'm expecting the same amount of complaints against it icon_e_biggrin.gif

8 mana and colourless gives it a lot more versatility in my book. I think there is a few solid ways to manipulate the AI with a clever deck to make something very trollish indeed.

Surprised that no one has said anything about Black Vise. That card will kill you lickety split. It should cost 30.

The swords are pretty OP but still not to the level of gonti aether heart.
I think the ones that I really want would be defense grid.
Defense grid is really good in many situations.
Platinum angel can be pretty annoying if you don't have a creature control card.

MTGPQ is adding 18 masterpiece cards to the game:
    Arcbound Ravager
    Black Vise
    Champion's Helm
    Chrome Mox
    Defense Grid
    Gauntlet of Power
    Lightning Greaves
    Lotus Petal
    Mind's Eye
    Ornithopter
    Platinum Angel
    Sundering Titan
    Sword of Body and Mind
    Sword of Feast and Famine
    Sword of Fire and Ice
    Sword of Light and Shadow
    Sword of War and Peace
    Wurmcoil Engine

However, there are 54 paper masterpieces, 30 KLD and 24 AER.
Of those the following are already mtgpq and dont need a masterpiece version
    Cataclysmic Gearhulk
    Torrential Gearhulk
    Noxious Gearhulk
    Combustible Gearhulk
    Verdurous Gearhulk
    Planar Bridge
    Hangarback Walker

and the following were not ported over at all:
    Aether Vial
    Chromatic Lantern
    Cloudstone Curio
    Crucible of Worlds
    Mana Crypt
    Mana Vault
    Mox Opal
    Painter's Servant
    Rings of Brighthearth
    Scroll Rack
    Sculpting Steel
    Sol Ring
    Solemn Simulacrum
    Static Orb
    Steel Overseer

    Chalice of the Void
    Duplicant
    Engineered Explosives
    Ensnaring Bridge
    Extraplanar Lens
    Grindstone
    Meekstone
    Oblivion Stone
    Paradox Engine
    Pithing Needle
    Sphere of Resistance
    Staff of Domination
    Trinisphere
    Vedalken Shackles

which of the following do you think should be added to the 18 already to be put in the game, and what changes do you think should be made to the ones already converted?

I think the swords should get +4/+4 instead of +8/+8 and have their casting costs adjusted. The only sword that didnt get 2 abilities is feast and famine, and understandably since making the opponent discard on a hit would be a bit much, but cost should be considered due to this.

I also think ornithopter should be a spell that costs 1 and summons 2 1/1 thopters instead of a 4/4 creature for 4 since it wont help thopter decks considering we only can have 3 creatures in play. As it is now its just a bad card that wont see play.

I considered suggesting that the 25 BFZ and 20 OGW expeditions get added to their packs, however they are all land cards and 5 of them already are in the game (the BFZ 5 cost rares). Do you think the remaining 40 (or at least some of those) should be added?

Some thoughts on the missing masterpieces and comment on the newly added one

Aether Vial - 6, activate 1: the first creature in your hand gains full mana
Chromatic Lantern - 5, when you make a colored gem match that is not part of your PW identity, that match gets +1 mana
    Cloudstone Curio
    Crucible of Worlds
Mana Crypt - 5, at BOT gain 3 mana and take 3 damage
Mana Vault - 5, at BOT gain 6 mana or take 3 damage (cycles between these options each turn)
**Mox Opal - [should have cost reduced]
    Painter's Servant
    Rings of Brighthearth
    Scroll Rack
    Sculpting Steel
Sol Ring - 3, at BOT gain 2 mana
    Solemn Simulacrum
    Static Orb
Steel Overseer - 4, 1/1, each colorless creature you control gets +1/+1 at BOT

    Chalice of the Void
Duplicant - 10, 1/1 destroy target creature as this comes into play and this gets +X/+Y which was the destroyed creatues P/T
    Engineered Explosives
    Ensnaring Bridge
Extraplanar Lens - 10, gem matches that match your PW color identity get +3 mana for all players
    Grindstone
Meekstone - 6, 2 shield, disable all creatures with power 6 or greater while in play
Oblivion Stone - 10, 5 shield, loses a shield at beginning of turn, when destroyed all supports and creatures except your first creature are destroyed
    Paradox Engine
    Pithing Needle
    Sphere of Resistance
Staff of Domination - 7, activate 3: draw a card and disable opponents first creature until end of turn and gain 3 life
    Trinisphere
    Vedalken Shackles

I think the swords are fine at +8/+8 but I agree the thopter card either needs to be trivially cheap (1 mana) or summon lots of thopters. Honestly, I think they should maybe just remove it. No one is excited by that card and it actually make Masterpieces much worse if you have to worry about getting it.

All rarities come with duds. Is it really such a big deal?

I do agree the thopter is currently useless though.

I think the the swords ought to be +6/+6 so that a single armed token would not outclass an 8/8 mythic by itself.

The Ornithopter indeed is rather disappointing as it is, and would really class as a rare-level card, IMO. It really needs some extra ability to make it worthy of mythic status, let alone a masterpiece. I would suggest either: a) fetch another copy of itself when cast, à la self-assembler, so you can at least build a stack of them more easily, or b) boost other thopters with something like "when another thopter comes on the board, give it ______". It'd be tempting to say +1/+1, although I could see that turning way too OP in some decks. Looking at the original paper card, which is a free 0-powered artifact creature more meant for blocking, I would say giving each newly summoned thopter 0/+1 and vigilance would be closest to the spirit of the original card.
