Fate is rarely fair, and apparently it is nothing but grief

Second objective of all nodes is to lay down five vehicles. Unless you're some type of genius, or you've mastered the art of dragging the match out 15 minutes at a time, that means you're likely trying to run vehicles in your deck as the main creature force. Maybe if you're like me, you keep an Olivia in your deck as a safety precaution, but the goal is to only bring her out for emergencies.
You fire up your next match. It's Nissa. Alright, time to roll up my sleeves. AI plays Mirrorpool as the first card. From that one card, we all know what's coming next. The entire Nissa deck can be predicted by a single play from the AI. Several loops of mana ramp followed by dumping a single Gaea's Revenge on the playing field on turn 3. Boom! Fate is rarely fair.
What else would I get matched up against in an enraged event? Hmmm? Should I get matched against a fellow player that carefully crafted a vehicle deck? Nope. Fate is rarely fair.
Now I get matched up against Nahiri. Let's roll up our sleeves again and be very careful this time. Here we go.. AI lays down a couple harmless cards, then boom! Olivia! Gisela! And not only are all my removal spells stuck on the bottom of my deck, I get to answer with.... Vehicles! Fate is rarely fair.
My solution, once again (broken record here), is to remove all KLD cards and revert back to prior optimized sets. A bit of a recurring theme I suppose. But, as we all know, fate is rarely fair.
Got my crystals, but you can keep your pack of dupes. I'm a little light on the workload today so I'll just try and build some decks for the upcoming event and test them in QB. I would like to use C2, Dovin, and N2.
(In case I wasn't clear, lore and immersion are just as important as puzzle quest in this game. Please incentivize us to participate. Perhaps award ribbons for reaching objectives regardless of win/loss.)

wonder if using winners from the previous events as seeds to battle against based on your ranking at the time? went against a green and a red node in this and neither one had vehicles at all he was ranked 3rd thank god the ai blew both of them0

There's a decent amount of players who are basically saying "screw the secondary objectives" and just focusing on getting the wins. I think that people are getting burned out on having to change up their decks for every event, and now you're seeing that more.0

I am one of them. Screw the secondary objectives. Our main aim is to win.0 -

That, and the tedium of a 5 vehicles objective compared to those that allow you to use cards you actually want to play with.0 -
You didn't even need the second objective to make full progression, so maybe even the devs realized that this objective was only for the truly hardcore (or noobs). I personally ignored them because I didn't see the value of risking a win for an unlikely shot at two extra points. Too risky given event timer and limited tries. That kind of objective is better suited to a PvE event with unlimited fails.0

I keep reading that changing decks is such a chore and burning people out, but seriously, is it really that hard? Takes very little time in reality.0 -
Before the event, to prepare for it:
It takes time to switch from the event view to the planewalker view.
It takes time to switch from the planewalker view back to the event view.
It takes time to clear your entire deck, pick the required cards through the huge list of cards.
Somtimes, it's not about a matter of swapping one or two cards. Just to fulfill one secondary objective, 2 or 3 key cards are required and that would require additional changes to make sure everything fits together.
During the event, against certain planewalkers, certain cards are more useful and again, there is a need to go back and forth the menus to change the deck.
After the event, it takes time to switch back to the 'preferred' deck.
Do the above everyday for at least 3 decks. It's not a lot of time? It is for me since my playtime is limited.0 -
Man I hate this event.
That is all.0 -
I just find it boring0

This event sucks. As in: not even remotely fun. As in: it makes me not want to play.0

In just playing around, really giving a tiny kitty about the event at all, I have faced in my first 12 battles exactly 1 vehicle....1, and several took 15 to 20 minutes trying aimlessly to cast my own vehicles. I was once told by support that playing non event decks provided "variety." TK, plain and simple, horrible event design again.0 -

I think he's talking about altering their decks, which is obviously a lot more difficult than merely changing the deklist from one established deck to another. It can also be quite frustrating trying to build around some of the tighter objective restrictions.
Also: yes. Merely changing your decks is a chore, IMO. Especially if you end up using the same planeswalker for two different levels on a PvE event. Especially especially if that PvE event overruns into a second event.0 -
I like the idea in general to cast 5 if something, because just putting 1 or 2 of it in your deck probably won't work.
I just feel like vehicles was not the best choice...
Maybe having pilots and vehicles would have made a difference (and would have been more thematic as well...).0 -
Ironically, this time through, I made up my mind before hand just to use regular non-KLD decks. Kiora, Arlinn, and Koth. No shenanigans, no energize, no vehicles, no grief. I'm not sure if they've modified the matchmaker (they should warn us), but I have never been matched against so many decks that are actually using vehicles. I mean, one match it was down to the last blow, I had 8 health left, but only because I was trying to cast 2 or less spells with Kiora. All the other matches were a complete cake-walk.
Boring? Yes. But what can I do? Once burned, twice shy. I ran vehicles last time and got slaughtered, even missed the final progression.
I still stand by my recommendation that, even if it's just for the vehicle objective, players should be awarded the optional objectives regardless of winning the match. That means that you are guaranteed 2 ribbons just for playing 5 vehicles in the match. I mean, you can't just start and quit the match, you actually have to survive long enough to play 5 vehicles in the first place, so why not award the ribbons?0 -
This event is easily the worst event I have played yet. It really wants me to stop playing this game altogether...
I thought this supposed to be fun not a chore0 -
I got 2 losses and I don't like this game anymore. Mean event. I'll pass on it next time.0

Solution is simple - to keep 7 ribbons per 'full' win (win+both objectives) just change the ribbon distribution to 2 for win, 4 for achieving the 'theme' objective (vehicles in this case) and 1 for the remaining objective. BOOM! suddenly, we have decks that care about the theme!0

This is my most hated event. Period.0

I still wouldn't care. 5 vehicles is ludicrous when they are all terrible. Just thankful its a non-coalition event so I don't have to do it.0
