I don't think someone putting a ton of money in this game would be too excited about competing for alliance #1 since 500 HP is still a very small amount of HP compared to a Stark Salary.

Like Clint said SHIELD just happen to have a higher concentration of crazy guys when it comes to PvP, though I'm not sure they managed to such an overwhelming concentration of crazies compared to any other alliance for PvP only.

Burnout is inevitable. I remember lots of old timers (Old timers being from 2 months ago) that were unstoppable juggernauts of no life having match 3 making uberness, that have now moved on to other games, or are letting the blisters on their thumbs turn into callouses so they can come back stronger than ever.

You're absolutely right. When it comes down it, the secret to our current success isn't a big mystery. We just happen to be a group of like-minded people who happen to be obsessive compulsive match 3-players. We do well in PvP because everyone in the group is motivated towards the same goal and are willing to devote an unreasonable amount of time playing the game.

I think Clint may have been attempting to derail the runaway smartass train I was about to set in motion, but I was really just (ineffectively) trying to make your point above. I mean, if Joe Money decides to drop $10k on MPQ to buy and max every character, that doesn't mean he's going to dominate the leaderboards. He may have a distinct short term advantage over Sally Freeplay, but ultimately Sally will come out on top if she is willing to invest the time and effort. People want different things out of the game, and that's perfectly fine -- it's great actually. But in the end, people who "P2W" pay with their valuable time, not their money.

Also, I wouldn't necessarily consider us a "PVP" alliance -- that focus just came about organically and could always change. Like Clint said, burnout is inevitable. We lost our founder to it, along with some other players we've been friends with for a long time. After the first Alliance PvE, we decided that the structure of the PvP just works better around the schedules and lives of our group, so we've been sticking to it.
