I always thought Rhino would have been a good "variant" for Juggernaut at a higher star level. He could have Headbutt and Unstoppable Crash and then a third power for support.

A Void version of Sentry would be great too.

I have a soft spot for the spiky thing, he wasn't around long but he was stronger than the normal thing due to getting irradiated a second time, and actually beat the grey hulk into submission.

I really want a 5 star Iceman or even a boss. Possessed Iceman when Emma Frost took over and used his omega level powers like they should be

Johnny goes all-out, creating a white-hot burst of plasma once his allies are a safe distance. Place a 2-turn black tile that sends allies airborne for 1 turn before dealing (1300?) damage to the enemy team and destroys an 8-tile ring in the center of the board. Destroyed tiles do not deal damage or generate AP.
    2. Deal 1600 damage.
    3. Deal 1800 damage and add a second ring, surrounding the first.
    4. Place a 1-turn black tile that deals 2000 damage.
    5. Deal 3000 damage.
At max, 5000 damage to enemy team?

Agree Juggernaut should have a higher rank variant. Unfortunately, like Human Torch, unlikely because of Fox.

I don't really know if the company that owns the individual characters matters, I mean we got 4 wolverines, 3 storms, 2 human torches, 2 deadpools and 2 magnetos, so I don't see why fox owning the rights to juggs or human torch would prevent D3 from making a variant of them. However human torch may be unlikely due to the cancelling of the fantastic four comic. We can only hope he gets that 4 star variant, I don't know what other costume they could put him in tho tbh.

I am one of the players who are not for variants. While I know that they will still continue to be introduced I never am overly excited as much as I am when it is a character that has yet to be introduced. I get the fact that Marvel has their hands in who D3 can release I understand, but I don't fully understand promoting the same character people already have emotional ties with or just their favorite in general. Like to me it was lack luster to release another Panther based on the movie. Now had it been Shuri I would have been a bit more excited, but we already have T'Challa so it's like ok, since he isn't an essential I'm not going to bust my butt over it. I can anticipate that we will more than Likely see variants of Thor, Iron Fist, Hawkeye, and maybe even Scarlet Witch and Vision to round out the 5* Avengers roster they are introducing.

The only character I would like to see a variant of is Red Dawn Psylocke, as she has always been my favorite Marvel character of all time, and the fact she was very powerful in this "variation" of herself in the comics. I also already understand we probably will not see any mutants or variations of introduced for a very long time or maybe never again, unless Marvel hears the pleas of this game's fan base for more X-Men as a lot of us 90's kids grew up on all things X-Men.

Maybe unstoppable colossus can satisfy the need for both a new colossus and juggs as a 4 or 5 star.

    Stop right there.

Juggernaut and Dr Doom are obvious choices.

But what if I said 4* Human Torch?

Johnny is the only Fantastic Four member without a 4*.

It matters more than it used to. Previously Marvel at large seems to have begrudgingly continued supporting Fox's (and Sony's) cinematic rights, but there has been a marked shift more recently to move away from that. All character releases have to be approved, and variants may be easier for Demi but are still things that Marvel probably doesn't want to see because they do help promote characters that they don't fully own.

To help illustrate this I've compiled a list of every MPQ character release by date. It may not be entirely accurate given that the dates I used are from each character's oldest post in Character Discussion, but it should be good enough to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

Fox cinematic properties are in red, Sony cinematic properties are in blue, and special cases are in green. In the last category, the rights to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are co-owned by Marvel and Fox, and the rights to several "Spider-Man" characters are questionable. Miles Morales for instance should fall under Marvel, but if they were to give him a movie they would be unable to call him Spider-Man. Spider-Gwen is another strange case, as Gwen Stacy is definitely owned by Sony but the concept and comic of Spider-Gwen came after the sale of cinematic rights so she should technically be Marvel.

But I digress. The point of the list is to show how support for each other studio has changed over the years of MPQ's existence. You'll notice that the last Fox release was Phoenix over a year ago in November of 2015, and before that there seemed to be a good amount of them mixed in with strictly Marvel characters. Looking around that time for related news, it does seem that it was shortly after Fox and Marvel finalized plans for Legion and Hellfire. One can surmise that perhaps during those negotiations it became clear that Fox was keeping their death grip on Mutants/XMen, so Marvel started ditching support for those properties in areas where they could. Also worth noting is that the last Fantastic Four release was Silver Surfer in September 2015, only a few months before Marvel announced their cancellation of FF comics in January 2016.

If you look at Sony's characters you'll see that while there was a dearth of releases for a while, there were a handful in 2015 (notable that the Spider-Man deal was announced in February of 2015) though they trickled away in 2016.

tl;dr There has been an undeniable shift in new releases towards strictly Marvel characters, and it is very likely that D3/Demi have little to no say in this and work with what they have. While variants would be nice for XMen/FF characters it is unlikely that Marvel would ok it.

I'll be very surprised if we don't get a 4* Iron Fist Before March 17th to tie into his Netflix series. Heck, he should probably be the next release after the Son of Coul.

I think an Iron Fist variant is a lock at this point. I think I could learn to love a 4* Daredevil as well if we're going to be rounding out the Netflix heroes.

I'll also throw my support behind popular choices: God Doom, Infamous Iron Man, and Unworthy Thor.

As for some less common/popular picks:
Agent Venom Space Knight (although this could just be resolved by giving the existing Agent Venom the Guardians of the Galaxy affiliation),
Magneto (perhaps House of M? I'm not really sure other than I'd like a 4 or 5 * variant)
    Professor X (featuring Gold Hoverchair)
    Superior Spider-Man
Loki (there's a few options here. Agent of Asgard, femLoki, King Loki)
Colossus (I'd potentially like to see all of the Phoenix Force as 5*'s, but that would be a long way off)
Psylocke (let me field a full X-Force team)

and Wolverine. Yeah, I know. Still, I'd like to see variants based off Age of Apocalypse, Horseman of Apocalypse, or Weapon X.

I'd like to see a 5 star Nick Fury (Classic) as written in the comics and not the movie version.

Also, Professor X 5 star (Onslaught) version would be great too.

Fun trivia: they exist as separate characters in main Marvel Universe (616). The Sam L. Jackson-y Fury is the son of Hasselhoff-y Fury. Also, Nick Fury from the Ultimate universe was modelled after SLJ before the latter played him in MCU (2002 in comics, 2008 first appearance in Iron Man)... So the Fury we got in the game is, in fact, a version from comics.

4* Daredevil (though my username May make me biased).

Variants he could don would be the MCU costume (most likely), His black suit from the MCU/Man Without Fear (my top pick), Yellow (my second pick), Shadowland, Armor, and Noir (more obscure choices).

He's my favorite character and not sucky enough to get an upgrade to the 3* version. So a 4* variant is my best shot at getting a top tier DD.

    Ok here's my variant list...

    Magneto should have a 4*

    Void/sentry

    Hulk (world war hulk)

Thing (or just buff him since he's looking old and weak these days)

    Juggernaut NEEDS a 4*

    Scarlet spider (ben reilly)

Dr. Doom - that issue when he nicked surfers board and took on galactus would be perfect in my opinion

4* Clint Barton Hawkeye - give him his classic look dammit

There's a good opportunity here to create a 2 stage classic Thor using his Donald Blake alter ego as a healing character who transforms into thor and just wrecks the place.
