Resisting the urge to level up Mr. Fantastic

So Mr. Fantastic's crash is coming up and I'm debating if I should pump iso into my max covered Reed. Should I avoid doing so? Surely a revision to his powers is imminent, right? If not I don't think I could justify wasting the iso when I already have an iso starved roster, just for the sake of a LT. somebody talk me out of doing this.

He is probably next in line for buffs...

I think this time around his crash should be much easier, Devs acknowledged that this fight against Doom was really hard, even for high levelled/covered Reeds. I had to level him to 190 to being able to win the fight consistently (without needing 20 tries icon_razz.gif).

It’s a roulette. As Polares said he is a likely candidate to be buffed however its not already happened so you will be playing with him in his current ‘flawed’ format. If you have plenty of covers in blue you can stun him into submission perhaps. If you have 5 in black you can match him down. But all of that is inconsequential I guess if you don’t have enough health points to survive matching.

Then there is the likelihood of you getting a decent pull on the hard earned ledge token that you can use. Unless you are hoarding of course then that too is inconsequential.

So in summary...... I don't know.

Brigby just recently named him a hot candidate for a fix. If you have ISO and cover in the cue - I would go for it. Otherwise - just level enough to win the crash and keep waiting for the update.

At max covers lvl 150 was enough to win the crash for me the last 2 times
No boosts. I wouldn't take him past there until we know for sure if he's getting a buff

I have him championed. I never use his black when I can use OML's black instead, but his blue and yellow are decent support powers.

I'm not the best person to answer because I try to champ any 4* I get a 14th cover for, so my Mr. F is championed and has been for about four months.

That said, if you're ever on the fence on whether you want to level someone for Crash, what you should do is hold your ISO and do not spend it. Then, on the day of the Crash, attempt it with the character as-is. If they fail, give them some levels and try again. Repeat until you hit the minimum level you need to succeed.

If winning the Crash match is the only reason you'd max them out, that should save you some ISO, plus put you in a better spot come time to actually max them out.

Let your priorities guide your decision. If you have to sacrifice a cover, or you're saving to beef up the next boosted 4*, hold you stash. If you're saving up for the "what if", I say do it. The boost to IW was significant, and Reed's probably going to get the same treatment. I wouldn't go all the way to champ just yet - just enough to win. Wait to see what they do with him. But that one-time spend means you should still be able to win the crash every time he comes up. Every 800 days.

I hope they either replace doom or make him a 3/3/3 (or less!) like they apparently have with a couple of the other characters.

I leveled MrF to 172 and fully covered the last two times it took me seven tries and five tries. Worst 4* in the game.

I'd say that it depends on what tier you are in. If you are firmly in 5* land, champ him, it won't negatively affect anything MMR-wise, you'll never have to put a drop of iso in him again, and if they do buff him, you'll be able to respec instantly without having to wait for the better cover to drop from the RNG Gods.

If you are still in 3/4* land... Bring him up to wherever he can beat the crash and call it a day. I did it once at 140, then brought him up to 170 for the one after that (just a little less annoying and with the iso expenditure spread out, it was easier to stomach).

I just champed him this morning in preparation for tomorrow's crash (and because I had two covers in inventory.)

I'm down to the dregs of 4*s, so I'm just going to champ whoever I have in q until they are all done. (17 left, but only 9 max covered so the pickings are pretty slim.)

    Mine's level 90 with 13 covers.
Ain't no way I'm hitting the level cap for him by tomorrow. He's my lowest level 4* and I've had no inclination to level him up.
While I'd welcome a great improvement, it's gonna be painful finding the time and ISO to level him up. I only recently managed to level up TA Hulk and Invisible Woman after their boosts.

I'm just going to chalk tomorrow's crash up as a loss and move on. I'll be able to win the ones following that so I can survive.

Mr Fantastic was on the list of characters whose Crash would be made easier. We'll see what that means tomorrow I guess.

Word on the street is that he will no longer do true healing.

If you're pensive, you might want to wait to see the numbers before you do anything.

Given how much everyone hates him I would assume he's probably due for a buff. That said, in his current state I was able to beat his Crash at 160 with a 535 build, though I definitely lost a few times first.

I wouldn't do anything until you see what his clash brings. The devs have stealth swapped opponents once before (Carnage switched to Elektra vs PX), so there's always that lingering chance they'll adjust this one.

Even if it's a 1% chance, that knowledge is still better than leveling him to 220 or something and then swearing because you could've beat it way lower.

Players over-value LTs. It's worth leveling a character that can win reliably at a modest level, not for that one win, but for all the times why may win before you get around to champing them, if you ever do.

LTs aren't over-valued; it may seem that way, because it's one of only two avenues to throw yourself before the mercy of the RNG in the hopes of a 5*. The only way to compensate for this problem is to burn through as many chances as possible, either through LTs or CP.

I have him champed and will use him in PVE. At a 5/3/5 build, his black can boost damage quite a bit. I only ise him in mid level fights though. Mostly I do it for a change from OML (in 4* land and have a 4/2/3 oml, it's hard not to use him for every fight).
That being said, I agree with the try it, then level response. Even though he isn't great, they might have changed it, or you jump in once and have a black and blue 5 match on your starting board - you might win.

My Mr. Fantastic got leveled up this morning. Though nothing to do with MPQ.

    Mine is a meager 1 1 5 @ Level 145.
If I had a better Blue, which makes the stun that last 2 turns, I'd be tempted to Level him to at least 170 or so. Of course waiting to see what changes.

But I have much better targets to level than him that would also champ them. I'm in the holding pattern of waiting until I get a "13th cover" cover of someone that is cover maxed. That is my cue to Max them so I don't lose that cover and can convert it into a Champ Level.

Mine is 5/2/5, lvl 180, and probably would stay there for a while even if I drew that last yellow. I've got way too many at non-champed 13 covers to put ahead of him as leveling priorities (Peggy, MaxPun, Bucky, Cho, Invisible Woman, Ant Man).

For much of the game, 4 and 5* covers are a fairly rare resource. As such, I'll happily burn all my health packs and boosts to get a LT. Unfortunately unless they make the fight significantly easier I think I'll just be outclassed here, but if it's winnable I'll absolutely level him.
