What is your go-to PVE team?

OML
Jean Gray
Scarlet Witch
ESP vs Goon nodes.
Depending on buffs, I adjust for harder nodes. Or to just change it up.0 -
In 3*-land, my go-to was Patch/Loki/Fist for heroes and Witch/Jean/Widow for goons (I had a 5-purple Jean very early).
In 4*-land, it started out as Cyclops/Fist/Rulk or Cyclops/Hood/Rulk. Fist was there for instant damage and to drive my 5/5/3 Cyclops' yellow to produce green for Rulk (it wouldn't work now, but worked at the time, due to levels). Cyclops and Rulk were there for being strong, and for being my highest-level 4*s at the time. Or, for a short while, my best was Cyke/Jean/Witch. Again, Witch drove Cyclops' yellow to produce purple for Jean, resulting in constant board-clearing.
In 5* transition, it was OML/Xpool/X-23. I remember once using the top node of a sub to heal them. Crazy. Not the fastest, but almost never used health packs. If XPool and X-23 get boosted together, I'll have to try this one out again, although the damage threshold for XPool's black has gotten so high, it might not work.
In 5*-land, it's varied quite a bit. Currently, my best for goon nodes (or partial goon nodes) is Bolt/Nat/Strange. For hero nodes, Surfer/Thanos/Bolt and IM40/Phoenix/Spidey are both ridiculous.
Edit: I forgot about using Im40/Steve in 3*-land. Even before IM got buffed, that was good. It's still my go-to for the solo Hulk nodes in that event. Only change there is using OML as the third instead of Loki or Hood.0 -
I always try to include a buffed 4* in my go to team in PVE and in hearts of Darkness I have been running OML, war machine, starlord. The reduction of war machines powers makes his powers very cheep and his green can cause a lot of cascades for OML match damage. Also star lord's purple can cover up cd and any nasty enemy tiles. War machines attack tiles also work great with OML strike tiles.
Also in later battles I have run OML SS professor X. Again the double dip of attack and strike is nasty and if you get a match 5 my professor X is doing 8k damage plus black AP for more OML strike tiles.0 -
My go-to team for the longest time lately has been IM40, She-Hulk, and Kamala Khan. AoE for days plus plenty of cheap moves for healing if needed. Only problem I have is that it kind of hinges heavily on Kamala so if she goes down (usually a result of going a long time without healing but continuing to chance a fight anyways) the fight gets annoying pretty fast and unfortunately she's my strongest 3* by quite a bit so she ends up tanking most of the colors.0

If and when you have a usable 3-star Luke Cage, try swapping him in for Kamala. Set Cage's red defense tile generation to 5 and then prioritize obtaining green for She-Hulk's AP denial. Cage's defense tile will block all match damage and She-Hulk will prevent your opponent from using many powers. Don't need Kamala's healing if you're not getting damaged. (Note: not effective against goons)0 -
I use mostly for goon nodes or goon + hero nodes:
2* Moonstone
3* Cap Marvel
3* Dr. Strange
First 2 have enough hitpoints not to die fast and do some damage, but most damage does Dr. Strange.
I put the goon in the back, so their powers activate Dr. Strange power.
Didn't use Thanos for a while, but want to try him after Civil War again.0 -
I got lucky with OML covers even though I'm in 3* land. My go to team is OML, IF, and Dr Strang3 for just about any node with a goon.
If there are no goons, I use IM40 and Mags a lot with someone that's boosted.0 -

I've fallen in love with Wolverine Xforce, Scarlet Witch, GSBW. Witch blue is insane, she can spawn matches five and critical tiles several times a fight. That builds up Widows pink which is great for setting up big matches to easily use her green. Not to mention goons using rockets/flame thrower which are both green, so this is a killer combo, especially after all the big matches and cascades you might get, then popping off her sniper shot. This tandem has been wrecking everything.
Widows red is awesome too, you can target special tiles to easily eliminate them. I like Xforce Wolverine here too for his hard hitting black, or cheaper green if you need a little board shake up and don't have enough AP for Widows sniper yet. This team easily takes out super scaled up pve teams effortlessly.0 -
Without boosted characters being a factor, for goons I'm all about Power Man, 3* Strange, and Wasp. And that's with a Wasp that's stuck at lvl 188 until I get more covers. But I have five in her yellow, which is the key to the combo. I keep Power Man at 5/5/3, because I usually finish matches too quickly to get enough red to use that power.

My no brain team for PvE is OML, Strange, BBolt. I just need to match tiles without looking to much and the other team slowly dies.
My one neuron team is BW, Strange, BBolt. I match tiles to fire BW powers but that's it.
Then when the other team is a 450 team composed of 4s, I adapt to that team, and try to maximize my changes. But I have to admit that most of the times Strange or Bolt are in those teams too.1 -
For 4 stars, starlord, c4rol and rulk are fun. For 3, IM40, Dr strange and kamala khan0
-
Peggy, Iceman and IM40 is my team I'll use if no one is boosted.
Carol, Bl4de and Wasp for wave nodes or to just switch things up.0 -
Thanos/Dr.Strange/IM40 is my current favorite.

Pve is a pretty consistent pattern for me now:
(1) take best boosted 4* of the week,
(2) add best possible battery for #1, usually im40,
(3) if playing non-essential node, add another boosted 4* for defensive or color coverage purposes.
If i dont care about placement, i might break that pattern to try out a newly rostered 4* or 5*, or try some new team combination. But in general boosting is so strong for 4* champs that it dominates all team building decisions for 4* players.0 -
5* Thanos, 5* Black Panther and 3* Strange
(as a note my Thanos is 1-3-1 lvl 270, and Black Panther is 0-1-2 lvl 270).
Thanos and Black Panther will protect Strange for every color except Blue, and they deal 400+ a match because they are 5*. They also have a very good combo together once an enemy is killed.
The strategy is simple: pick the lowest life enemy and start matching tiles against him. If any enemy fires an ability, Strange punishes the target. When the first target is dead, Thanos will stun everybody and deal damage. When Black Panther unstuns he deals damage because of his red. Also very useful Strange's blue and Panther's yellow.
Thanos purple could stop annoying spammers, and his green is rarely needed, but a nice bonus if you manage to use it. Panther's black could be very good also, but I don't have any cover yet.
This is my go-to team for every PvE in the nodes without required chars. For those with required chars I usually swap Panther out and leave Thanos and Strange. If Thanos is not a good strategy for that particular case, I use whoever is boosted the most, or C4rol.
Also Black Panther is very good against Venom, because he usually stuns him, resulting in free damage.0 -
So I don't have this team at "full potential" yet but C4rol, Wasp, and Medusa should work really well together. Strike production, tile buff, ap steal, board shake, enemy special steal, stun, aoe, team heal, ap generation, and every turn damage. Can also produce a protect tile and attack tiles. This combo has almost everything!! Currently I am champing Wasp, have Medusa @215 5/4/3, and C4rol @215 5/5/2. Soon I will test this team in the simulator at full potential........
P. S. Has anyone tried this combo?0 -

Didn't have any boosted characters for the Strange event, but I was still seeing Mindless Ones with over 18k health. I was still shredding them with IM40 / Carol / War Machine. Carol really is a gamechanger on offense the way Peggy was on defense.
With the old character designs they would've given her a fatal flaw like she can't generate her own strikes or maybe she makes lame attack tiles instead. But she's so good I'm gonna end up loving her movie even if it's Iron Man 3 bad.
