how is anyone who's not at the champ a 4* level supposed to even compete with this guy? its hard as mephisto's domain to get covers for these people, let alone champ them. this game seriously needs to make lower levels of play not as disheartening.

There is a star.pngstar.pngstar.png character available for each one. icon_wolverine.png today, and icon_groot.png yesterday. I used both instead of my underleveled star.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.png.

My buddy beat him with a level 140 3/5/5 Patch today.

I ain't sayin' he's easy, but he's been beatable with the 3* character both days so far. If you're not close to "champ a 3*" character territory, it's not happening for you.

But a covered, decently leveled 3* appears to be able to get it done. If tomorrow is Inhumans, I can see Kamala Khan getting it done. Denying purple - which you should be doing ANYWAY - feeds her green battery. If you can collect enough green to use that a few times, you can take him down. The thing is that she won't have the survivability Groot had without teammates (though you can maybe use teamups for that) and her AP cost to take him down is going to be probably double what Patch's was.

But I think she can win, yeah.

as Previous Posters said the 3 Stars in the first two were both good choices (especially if Champ'ed)
I beat him with a champ'ed Patch and a level 117 R&G with full covers

Kamala Khan and Doctor Doom likely won't be so lucky
Captain Steve can get it done with good boosts and some luck (remember Peacemaker leaves a pretty good protect tile when the countdown ends)
not sure if he can target the Purple Countdown though?

I have 0 4* championed and I've won every day. Today was the first time I had to try more than twice. Been winning with champed 3* in the 170-200 range.

Someone said they were able to overwrite his cd tile with starlord. Should be able to with cap too.

So today I had a choice of using championed quake or championed Kampala Khan. I choose Kampala Khan because she feeds her own powers more and I was able to deny Thanos Purple as well as green. I choose a strategy over just a 4*. I was able to defeat Thanos first try because when I fired purple I was able to generate more cascades and then fire off her green. Thanos got no powers to fire because I kept collecting all the green and purple. I also beat Thanos with Groot over Starlord. 2 times I have chosen to use 3* because I felt their strategy play wise better fit the fight against Thanos.

Thanos can still kill you and you can look to use some boosts to make it easier, but overall he is not that hard to kill.

I beat him with a 190 something KK today. Definitely the hardest battle yet and it took 3 turns on boosts. Was more board luck than strategy though, which is generally the case with 90% of 1v1 battles.

My wife is still pretty new and I beat him with her level 102 Rocket & Groot yesterday. They are challenging, but definitely attract more of the player base than the typical DDQ4 crash.

I actually lost pretty badly with a 12 cover, 200+ Quake before winning with a champed Kamala, mainly because of the color synergy - you need exactly what you want to deny Thanos, and you can use your purple to help match away his green damage CD tile.

did him with a 183 kk after about 5/6 goes unboosted, literally came down to a very lucky last turn, i got a lucky cascade and finished him before he finished me but it was very challenging to say the least i'd almost given up till i read a few people managed it with kk here

I lost with quake as well, KK just has better board control.

Agree with the previous posters. This crash is doable with the 3 3* chars.

Rocket and Groot I had lvl 175 5/5/3 and while he was beating me pretty badly a well timed I Am Groot got me back to full health.

Patch lvl 185 3/5/5 was deny purple long enough to collect 14 red and 9 green then Berserker Rage into Best There Is for gg. Healing Factor should keep you in the game until you get there.

The KK one was definitely all about similar colors. Your 8 purple is mostly more effective than Thanos since you control the board and can do your 3-4k damage instantly instead of on a timer. Mine was 3/5/5 lvl 170.

With Doom you'll probably need to get 12 black while denying purple and fire your Demons ASAP. ill probably try him 5 Black 3 Blue 5 Purple but I wouldn't be surprised if purple is not good enough.

Cap might be the most challenging since he wants to match all the other colors that Thanos does not want. You'll have to balance blue/red gathering with green/purple denial.

I lost with quake as well, KK just has better board control.

Lost my first fight with a champed Quake then remembered that you cam use kamala khan team ups. Second fight was easy with just a +2 TU bonus.

For those attempting with Kamala (like myself), don't forget to check her load-out - I always had her 5/3/5 for normal PvP, but she's of course better at 3/5/5 for this battle. Those extra green tiles might make the difference.
  • I can't even get close with a 167 KK 3/5/5....five tries...and then all colors boosted 30%...made no difference.
Unfortunately, I will have to concede this matchup...I've got better things to do with my KK in the PvE.

This match is all luck of the board, especially with only one offensive power at 167.....

If you decide to give it one more try, don't forget to deny black matches when you can as well. You'll be making green and purple matches for KK anyway, but Thanos' 3rd primary color (and strongest match damage) is black. It might buy you a few extra turns.

I got my 172 KK through with just maxed crit boosts (I had stupidly left +100% match boosts on for several matches earlier today and had none left). It's doable, but definitely board-dependant.

seeing these posts encouraged me to have another couple of goes with my 175 KK, and got it on the second try - result!
