    A nerf wasn't really what I was looking forward to re:Miles icon_neutral.gif

I've been using him a lot and getting Surprise off is pretty easy and quick due to the webs given out by Hide and Seek but keeping the Invisibility tile intact is quite difficult. Getting Surprise off just became really difficult. He was a really nice battery but now I won't use him except boosted. Very disappointed!

Power and Responsibility: This power currently doesn't differentiate between one Web tile or many Web tiles in a single match. The power has been updated to grant Mile's team AP for each Web tile matched. This doesn't count Web tiles destroyed by matching four or more tiles at once.

A little off topic, but while you're tinkering...Kaecilius had the same issue. I matched away 2 strike tiles in a single match, several times, but it only hit him once.
Assuming you've added the Doc Strange event into the rotation of events, would really love this to be fixed.

seriously one per season and it'll be the next decade before you fix characters that are suffering now let alone the countless that havent been released yet. and there are still 3 star characters in the game as well in case youd forgotten.

nice changes so far, credit where credit is due, but it cant hurt to pick up the pace.

I'd actually prefer to keep it to one per season or at max two per season. Every character has interactions with other characters that can be unbalancing, doing too many at once not only takes away time from really thinking out the changes but also introduces the possibility of creating an unforeseen and potentially game changing unbalance that will then in turn just have to be rolled back.

Also a little bit of hyperbole in that post even if they just do one per season they would still be doing 12-14 per year (we had at least two short seasons this year). Even if they keep the pace of releases the same the buffs are meant to bring the weakest characters more towards the center of the power curve. That works out to 25% of the current 4* roster.
Yes, but as thanos8587 said before: There are still 3*s in this game as well that could get a rebalance (Hi Spider!), not only 4*s. That's way I think two rebalances each season would be perfect (one 4* and one 3*).

I knew there was a reason I champed him over Ghost Rider =)

Can we get some kind of button for characters whose moves changes depending on circumstances? Currently Miles has his purple explaining how he goes invisible and that the move will change to Surprise! but we have absolutely no way of knowing how much damage Surpeise! will actually do when we get it unless we play a match with him.

Having a button to toggle movesets would be really helpful. This goes for OML, Vision, X-23, Nova...and there are probably more I'm forgetting.

If you weren't aware, you can go to the screen for the particular power, click one cover lower, and it'll show the preview for the next level - secondary power included.

Not the most straightforward way, but hey.

Dunno about that. Looking at Miles, clicking one power lower it stll says "This power becomes Surprise!" without telling me what Surprise! does. At the bottom it simple says "Surprise! does additional damage"

Not know anything about any transforming power has always been a problem. OML, Antman, Iceman, Nova... The list goes on... icon_e_sad.gif

With his purple power now being nerfed I am thinking about making him 3,5,5 instead of 4,4,5. To keep the invisibility tile out long enough to collect an extra 8 AP is still tough. Having the 2nd 8 AP always be surprise was a nice effect. He will still work well his yellow is a nice buff, but his purple feels like a nerf.

I do question which character makes him function better? Is it Medusa's passive making miles and medusa AP machines when a web tile is matched?
I think the opposite on the first part because I liked him being invisible. Not being able to go invisible without activating surprise sometimes really sucked. That being said it still does more damage now. Also I don't understand what you mean about medusa as she doesn't react to web tiles.
My comment with Medusa was more of a question since they said with new characters released he was acting better than before and I was just wondering how. I though Medusa since she can generate AP. Agent Venom does not look like he would make Miles better.
Also with you liking invisability it makes 3,5,5 his best build. I liked his purple damage as a kill shot with 4,4,5. I will try him out and see how he plays going forward though.

this sort of feels like a buff and a nerf at the same time. In all honesty, this is not what I was hoping for when I saw an update from a red-name. Still waiting for a good QOL improvement, not just minor tweaks. Hell, improving characters that drastically need it (let's be honest, there are characters in every tier from 3 through 5 that need it) rather than people who are fine... that woulda been welcomed as well. But instead, they keep the status quo of claiming they are listening, and then doing nothing.

If you see a hungry person, and you are truly listening to their plight, you probably give them food rather than force feed them a rock...

These seem more like bug fixes than a "chatacter rebalance"

Of all the broken/unplayable chatacters Miles wasn't even on that radar
  • This is GREAT NEWS for me. I just got my first yellow OML cover last week, and was pretty sure that I'd only get 2 weeks to enjoy the PvE godliness that he brings and that this PvP season would bring a nerf to him. So not only do I get to keep rolling through PvE easily, but I also get my 7-cover miles buffed. icon_e_biggrin.gif

There are a lot of characters in this game that benefit from saving your AP. For example, if I'm trying to get to 12 black with Iron Fist, I'll frequently hold out until I have 15 pink AP. The first use might not get me a match, but firing off three in a row is going to make things happen. If you wait until Miles has 16 pink, you don't have to try to keep the invisibility tile alive.

So you decided to nerf Miles because he worked too well with another character, but give him a few buffs and call it our character fix for the season? Many of us have ignored the fact that we were promised 2 characters per season to be fixed, but now we get 1 and a middle of the road character was picked because you wanted to nerf an ability?

This wasn't what we were promised, and is extremely disappointing. Many of us, including myself, came back because we had hoped that the promise wasn't hot air.

Ah I see where I was confused on the first part. Also I still like him 5/5/3 because 5 in purple makes it cost less (by one but still) and then you get the most ap gain (more web tiles) also unless running bss I think miles red is a joke (even when boosted).

Play him with switch and then collecting purple is easy. I usually just save up 14ap and fire both straight away. Seems the most effective use of his purple skill since invisibility isn't that great an ability these days with people like rulk around...

Why is this a nerf? His damage got a significant buff and his yellow got much better. All they did with the mechanics of purple was make it function as it logically should. The way it was originally was more like a bugged version of it. Really made no sense before, it also functions now like every other power utilising a tile on board like ice for example.

Purple creates web tiles which give you AP so you want to fire it off as soon as possible in order to collect the AP you get from the web tiles. Now you "need" to wait until you have 14AP before you get to start collecting the web tiles made By the purple power.

Not sure how to evaluate these changes yet. But miles must have been 10th or lower on the list of characters that need reworks. Wonder why he is the only one now, dev team having trouble doing a good fantastic redesign?

dev team is having trouble coming up with ways to truly make improvements... without spending actual time on it. Real changes must be too hard to design and code, so they force feed us nonsense and garbage

It honestly depends on how you play him. Many people, myself included, play Miles 5/3/5 - using the "Hide and Seek" side of the power to fuel the "Surprise!" side, and every so often zapping someone with the red. The fact that Miles went invisible was a mild side effect of the power, you were mostly casting "Hide and Seek" to spam web tiles, then slaughtering some character with "Surprise!" It hits really hard, particularly when boosted.

For those of us playing the character in that way, this is a real change. I'm not sure if I would go so far as to call it a nerf - it does hit even harder now, but it represents a substantial change to the character.

I love Miles in general, he's a great character. I'm going to reserve judgment - I think he'll play as well, if not better, with a slightly different play style. You can save up the 14 purple, sure, or at this point you can potentially spam the board with even more web tiles - if your invisibility tile gets matched you'll get "Hide and Seek" back, which creates 5 web tiles. It will probably work best to cast the power when you're closer to 14, and/or when you know your invis tile won't get matched quickly.

Of course, now I'm going to have to change my write-up for Ebola's character list. It emphasized two of the things they changed...

Good points all around. One thing I'm looking forward to seeing when I play with the redesigned Miles is how quickly I can generate purple through web tiles now. It's always seemed like a total waste that when I matched two or three web tiles together I only got 1 purple AP (when configured as 5/3/5).

When you're spamming the board with web tiles, it's actually really easy to make those 2 or 3 web tile matches. It's also always been nice that you get the AP even if the enemy matches a web tile... and now you'll be getting more purple when they do that than before.
