Wasted 5* covers

I managed to max out three 5* powers (OML yellow, Phoenix green and BSS blue) before I got a dupe BSS blue that I had to sell. It's my only one so far and I haven't spent any CP since - my plan is to just champ 4*s as they come via placement and progression rewards, and hoard a ton of CP so that I can try to finish off those characters all at once.

If they implement some kind of solution to this problem in the interim, I'll change plans, but for now pressing that sell button is just too painful.

I only have one character with 5 covers in the 5 star world, and that is the only character I pulled dupes for. 7 Phoenix greens. No other 5 star with 5 covers in any color. Still no Phoenix purple.

I am on day 720, and have only one 5* with any ability at 5 covers....my 1/1/5 SS. In 10 days, I'll hit my 2 year anniversary and get my 8th black SS, aka 2000 iso....yay!
  • Ok I changed plans. 10 days ago my last unusable BSS cover expired from my stash and I have spent all my CP on Classics in the hope that I would win the lottery and pull the missing BSS cover. Of course that didn't end well and I have completely given up on the idea of ever finishing a 5* in the Classic pool or improving my 3 champed 5* for that matter.

I decided to hoard all LT's and CP until I have finished champing all my 4* (34 champed so far). This will hopefully give me the time to hoard a few hundred Latest pulls which should result into 1 or more champed 5*. This way if I can at least ask CS to swap covers and have the added bonus of not wasting any 4* covers.

Result of my 9 day hoard so far: 9 LT's and 338CP

I would think a very simple solution to this problem would be to offer a "bank" with very limited slots (perhaps just 1). Once you put a character in, that character can only be sold or applied to that character. Once you get a 2nd cover for that character you can then apply 1 cover of the color of your choice to that character, by combining them. This keeps their RNG system somewhat intact, while giving the players an outlet to their frustration, all while taking the burden off of CS to fix this terrible mechanic. It would also keep the "pick and choose" mentality when it comes to roster intact, as we all know the same dilemma is likely to come up with another character while one is in the "bank".

Not a perfect system for anyone, but enough of an upgrade to at least alleviate a good portion of frustration for those of us who always seem to lose at the MPQ casino.

I started hoarding last season after realizing the doomed fate of my current classics. I don't know what's worse, knowing ill never max them, or resigning to play just with OML/PHX for another 3 or 4 seasons straight.
  • I've done the hoarding thing now for some time and I'm able to gather around 320 pulls in the Latest Legend pool in the time a 5* is in that pool on average. And unless I will get lucky with the pull rates it means I will 'only' get that 5* to around lvl 450.
In the grand scheme of things this does nothing to improve my roster. I have played this game competitively now for almost 3 years and like I wrote earlier I’m amazed and impressed that a game could keep me occupied for this long.
But for a player in my roster position (all 2*,3* and almost all 4* champed, with 3 champed 5*) there is nothing to play for anymore.

Many great ideas have been mentioned by this community to push the game forward (from my roster point of view) and nothing has been done about it. We are told that they are listening. But that’s what I say to my wife sometimes as well.

So like I see many other (top) players have done this off season I also have retired. I’m still available for D3 to give my input or insights on what the game’s status is for a big roster (and yes I’m aware there are way bigger rosters out there, but the main difference between them and me is $$$)

Still a big thank you to D3 and Demiurge for making this game interesting for so long.

Now that i'm getting 4's to max covers 5's seem more like entertaining novelties that do what i need from them fine at level 255 (although OML, Phoenix and IM46 are 270 because i was clueless about scaling

The game is catered to the casual player. Those players get the greatest rewards when you take into account how little time they play.

I don't agree at all, people just get bent out of shape when they can't have a 5* covered right now. Sometimes it's like a forum of veruca salts. RNG bites us all, I don't think there should be colourless covers. You take your chance like everyone else, I don't like that they even adjust latest LT's. Yeah a few newer players have got lucky but I don't see that many 3* players with a great 5* and if they have I bet the MMR is absolutely smashing them.

If they had colourless 5* before you know it everyone has well covered 5* and the game has to move onto 6* and the same whinging starts again. The only way I'd welcome 5* colourless is with a reduced draw rate. If you have gone through a 3 and 4 star transition and this bothers you, then you really must question why you play the game at all. The rarity and hope you will get the right colour is some of the fun.

By this rationale we should have no targeted cover acquisition at any level. It should all be RNG with no way to win covers except at the mercy of RNGesus.

You're not a dev are you?

they did nothing when we complained about it for 3*
they did nothing when we complained about it for 4*

still nothing now but the problem is really exponentially worse for 5*- either remove expiration date (instead of 14 days) when we have 5 of that color already or do something where we can change the color of a cover by spending HP or CP when we have 5 of that color.

I would pay a few thousands HP to change the color of a 4*- or half the cost of a cover in CP

I don't know how much I would pay in HP to change the color of a 5* but it would have to be over 10k no? If the cost was in CP then once again half the price of buying the cover seems reasonable no?

I don't think anything will be done though, it's all about keeping those whales whalin'
