There have been tons of improvements made to this game as a result of the discussions on this board.

I see a few have taken another opportunity to use this thread to post the usual nonsense memes. Truth is every release improves gameplay, fixes bugs and adds content.

Truth is subjective. That's your truth. My truth is I'm getting more and more demoralised with each update, my RSI is getting worse, and I'm genuinely concerned about people I really like quitting the game.

Hahaha everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts icon_razz.gif

I'm sorry, are you calling me a liar?

If I was trying to pick fights I would be more explicit. I just had gripe with the "truth is subjective" part.

I think what leafy is trying to say is, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

    But opinions are not facts(truths)

    Facts are universal.

    And fiddler listed some facts.

Not to pick a fight, but he said:

These are opinions as much as shteev's post is an opinion.

My opinion is that this board is a huge reason why there are improvements in gameplay, bug fixes and added content.

Feedback is part of the improvement cycle, the issue seems to be about how it is delivered. Either they develop a stoic perspective for the harshness and carry on improving, or we find a personable way to express our legitimate concerns. Or both, yes both sounds good.

You reap what you sow. I'm a member of a number of online communities, and there's a reason that this is the only one I constantly spit bile in.
I don't doubt that your other online communities are attached to games or activities with fewer problems than MTGPQ. But the thing is, it's entirely the choice of each individual in a community whether they spit bile or not, regardless of the state of affairs. A large number of people play the same game, and experience the same frustrations. But they don't all spit bile, and that's something we can all be thankful for. (When you're not spitting bile, your posts can be incredibly informative/interesting/clever... but it's a bit of a lucky dip.)

Complains are valid and necessary. Of course it's better when put in a constructive way. Look at what almost happened to Kiora, if it weren't for the player feedback she would've been nerfed to the ground.

I thought the most constructive way of making sure Kiora wasn't nerfed to the ground was the fact that many threatened to demand a full refund after seeing the "expected" changes in the v.171 pre-released noted. :p

True, but she really shouldn't have been nerfed in the first place. The a.i. spamming the first ability is a result of poor programming. I'm glad that feedback was taken into account, but the better solution would have been to improve the a.i.
Shteev is usually right. Sarcasm aside, he says things that need saying. I'm riding the fence with the love/hate for the game. Like many people here, I've spent a significant amount of real money on this game, and feel quite justified in expecting a quality product. They aren't very concerned with quality assurance at d3.
I used to work for wotc back in the golden age. There's a very good reason you didn't see MTG licensed products for a while. Brand reputation is extremely important to them. I still keep in contact with a few people in r+d and when I told them I was getting into this game, their responses were not very positive. I got the feeling a lot of people at wizards aren't pleased with the direction this game is heading, and the negative impact this game might have in the future on their brand. D3 might want to consider that. Wotc can and will pull the plug if they feel like the game is hurting their bottom line. I doubt it would come to that, but wotc corporate will eventually step in if changes are not implemented to improve game quality and overall player experience.

As someone introduced to everything Magic via this game I would say they haven't done wrong to the brand. This game is fun. So many of us have this new love/hate relationship with this game but the love is inspite of the hate. We all wanna love it more =)

As someone introduced to everything Magic via this game I would say they haven't done wrong to the brand.

I've been heavily into Magic since Alpha came out in 1993, and I'm a Hasbro shareholder.

I do believe that the outrageous prices being charged for marginal benefit hurt the brand considerably. As does the inability for collectors to complete sets or to do anything useful with their duplicates in this trading card game.

I've purchased numerous Hasbro games on my phone - Risk, Monopoly, Battleship, Scrabble. None of these cost me more than 99 cents to $2.99 one time fee. I didn't have to pay $49.99 for Boardwalk or grind for hours to get 100 duplicate copies of Mediterranean Avenue.

My understanding is that the developers who interact with us on this board are different from the marketing people who set the prices. I believe that the developers have the ability to expand the Magic brand by making a fun game, but that the people setting the prices have the ability to undo a lot of that goodwill.
