There is a distinctive tradeoff for tanking, as mentioned above. Tank, and a player can get into competitive position (500+) with relative ease. But, by that time, that benefit has evaporated. The stretching of the soft cap on points to 700+ ensure that the endgame players will pay tankers a courtesy call by the end of the tourney.

Doesn't match my experience at all. Tanking gets you an easy ride and you just shield up once there and laugh at the retals from way below. Or laugh even more collecting defensive wins as they only look at 50 pts opportunity and overlook the struggle to kill the more evolved team meeting you just because of tanking. but I bet most are just wise enough to use the skip button.
  • i think you should also be able to skip without penalty while shielded. you paid the HP you should reap the benefits

At some point you will be the highest ranked player in your MMR.

If you're upset that you cannot find anyone worth more points but you tank to find easier matches, then you're making an effort not to fight matches against higher ranked players.

I'm perfectly happy if a player wants to up his MMR to find more matches, there should be a button to do that.

I like the idea but I can already hear the elite complaining about some idiot with a level 70 team finding them for a loss of 40 points. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

I think you are imagining that MMR determines point value, it has no impact aside from the potential that higher ranked people play more and achieve higher points, character level has nothing to do with how many points you are worth. Rank doesn't matter in this instance, when you join the fight does. (Imagine the mayhem commercials) I can take my 141 team in whatever MMR I am in, join 45 minutes before the end of the match and EVERYONE that I hit gets blasted for big points because I joined later. I am not in your bracket since you joined 2 days ago and have been slogging through your fights, I am in your MMR, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Higher MMR will see players worth more points in part because higher MMR players regularly shoot for higher progression rewards.

MMR determines who you see. If nobody in your MMR is between 150 and 450, you may have to 'suck it up' to get to 300 before you see the 450 range people.

There is a strategy to join a 'slacker' bracket and score a few hundred points, then retaliate against all the higher ranked players that hit you during the 12-18 hours you went passive to get a bunch of 30+ value matches. You're just going to get hit for big points by these players.

No just imagining a scenario that would be more common if people could switch brackets at will. Fending off attackers from your own mmr AND from lower mmr's. The psychological effect of seeing a large loss from such a weak team that otherwise would never be in your pool would be quite maddening.

That is kinda speculative, I saw a plenty of nonsense rosters climbing to around 800. And by the time you climb up your MMR grows to see more than enough high points.
  • I have an idea. Let's all voice our grievances while having our wallets open. That way, they will really listen to us.

    Oh wait....

I never said the button would be a temporary boost. icon_twisted.gif
