  • Thx Hybrid icon_e_biggrin.gif

I'm slowly getting closer to the hundreds. I'm hoping they do another discount over the Easter weekend so I can buy some ISO/HP.
  • Hiya Ducks,

SLai here, got the permission to join earlier this evening and wanted to introduce myself. First, big thanks to HybridE420 for giving me a shot. I'm a day 157 active daily player, ign: SLai (forum doesn't allow names under 6 characters icon_evil.gif ), working on optimizing and leveling up my 3* roster and regularly placing top 5-10 in non LR PVP events. I'm pretty stoked to be a part of a such a high caliber team and look forward to contributing for the top spots!

    A couple questions for y'all:

PVP events: I normally jump in around the 12 hour mark, push for 700+ points and then shield when under 8 hours. Does anyone recommend a different strategy that doesn't require shielding more than once?

PVE events: For the current PVE event what do you guys feel is the best strategy for maximizing points?
  • I usually shield 3hrs and 3hrs as it costs the same as 8 and it give you a chance to fully heal and boost your points in between. Although depends on what time the event ends.
  • Our alliance currently sitting in 1st place! Nice work guys!
  • Got top 10 in Fearless Defenders. Currently top 5 in Iso8. Only played a couple matches in the Wolverine tournament. I have to be fearful of Punisher's red. He took out my 141 Patch and he had over 5k+ health. Won't forget about that again lol.

So, I go to bed in 1st in the Wolvie tourney and wake up in 7th - not surprising, it's still early in the tourney and I stopped when I hit 350. What _was_ surprising was that I had 3 successful defenses and no losses for a total gain of 67 points! People are not giving level 281 Patch the respect he deserves. icon_e_wink.gif

Also, great work in the ISO-8 event everyone! I'm sitting 80th, but I'm going start my morning run in an hour when all of my stacks are 100% refreshed. Should be able to hit 1-2 before the new nodes pop at noon EDT.
  • Hello ^^,

Are you still recruiting? I'm interested. When i willo go home, i'll send you my roster.

    Tanks for your attention.

I just generally try to start as late as possible. Starting a day or so earlier isn't bad either, because retaliations are a great way to shoot up to a high score, provided that there are enough people in the tournament with a score higher than yours. Just don't enter tournaments during the first day, it's inefficient ^^

If the tourney ends at a time when you're awake and able to babysit your rank, shielding for 3+3 hours is also great. During the last few hours you will always find people shielded just a couple points above you. Overtaking them just once, and just one game in between those three-hour shields is enough to do that, is usually enough to secure a top 5 or 10.

  • Thanks for the pvp tips guys. Shielding for the 3 + 3 sounds pretty interesting, may have to try that the next time a PVP ends on a weekend.

mjsko, I'm curious if you find that with starting a day earlier the competition in the bracket is more difficult than at other times, and the idea primarily is to put your self out there early so you can get more points from big retaliations?
  • There are so many factors, there is no perfect solution! Depends on whether you think the prize is worth it, when the PVP ends, what else is going on simultaneously, what characters are buffed, when you have time to play etc.

The wolvie event is a very weak spot for me, so my best shot (in my opinion) is to start early and get points through retaliation which is usually worth more. I just won a 40 pointer fight icon_e_smile.gif

Most other events I start later, but again it all comes down to what else is going on.

conclusiom: There's no right or wrong way!
  • I'm currently sitting in #1 in unstable ISO-8 icon_e_biggrin.gif Should get all three covers in this event icon_e_smile.gif

    How long is the reset?

Competition within your bracket doesn't really affect your score at all, since who you actually play against is determined by your MMR rather than your bracket. I really can't say which times are more competitive than others, I just know to avoid playing during the last three hours :> However, fishing for retaliations, perhaps even with a tank team, is a viable strat. But I think it is only good if you leverage those retaliations to stage your big doom push of doom, after which you shield. Picking them off one by one over a longer period of time is kind of a waste of potential.

I'm afraid the event will turn into rubberbanding hell during the final hours. And since I'll be asleep for the final 8 hours, my consistent hanging in the top 10 will probably change to a top 200 finish or something stupid like that :/ These extreme rubberbanding events tend to favor slackers who haven't played the event at all until the final day.

So if you're able to play when the event's about to end, play as late as possible.

Also, I was under the impression that the reset was 12h, but I don't think the nodes I cleared this morning got reset at all. Or maybe it's just my rubberband being nonexistent, so the point increase I attributed to rubberbanding was in fact the reset..
  • If you are looking alliance member, i'm ready;)

  • Currently #1 in The Best There Is with 708 icon_cool.gif

I got the day off from work tomorrow, so I'll should be able to hit the Iso-8 twice, so long as 'er in doors leaves me alone icon_lol.gif
  • I'm stuck right around 30 on both of these. I think my MMR is too high.
  • And back to top 10 in PVE for the 2 Minutes that will last. Now, time for bed or time to start PvP... icon_e_biggrin.gif

Go get ya beauty sleep, I've heard you need it icon_e_wink.gificon_lol.gif

Currently #5 in Best There Is, think i'll leave this until tonight, get all the retaliations out the way first.
    Back into first for Iso-8.
We are currently in #9, let's make sure we stay in the top 10, keep it going guys icon_mrgreen.gif
  • The rankings are pretty volatile for this PVE event! I might have to set an alarm for the final hour!

On the plus side, I finally got my 13th Punisher cover from a standard recruit token! icon_e_biggrin.gif
