Next event: bonus ribbon based on collection

This is my prediction.

Why secondary object are based on new mechanics?

Most people(unless you already spent much money on SoI packs) do not have enough cards to make a valid deck including delirious spirits and zombies.

So basically only whales right now can win and complete additional objectives leaving all others behind. That's the intent here.

Additional objectives is a neat idea but couldn't you just use the old ones?

  • I haven't spent money, but I've been saving crystals. I had 6k, and spent 1800 on three boxes. I only got 2 mythics and a few rares, but I put one or two cards in each of my decks. On top of that, Garruk can make wolves for free so I have 30 ribbons after 4 matches.

I'm really enjoying the event so far. I expect there will be more losses overall from bad cascades into enrage giving you less time to recover.

I have Garruck and luckily enough I chose to use it(not knowing beforehand the objectives).

For other colors I cannot even think about getting the objectives done(maybe if zombie ones was for black....).

It is at the very least too early for the vast majority of non heavy spenders to try going for it.
Well maybe in the end there will be not many it then able to not lose making the competition possible....

The problem I'm having is that only having one or two cards with the specified mechanics makes it very RNG dependent when you're hitting double damage in 5 turns. Only one I hit consistently is spirits, because I have tons of white spirit cards.

For someone who hasn't got any of the new cards and is a free player this event is even worse than the last one. Got 66% win atm, cuz facing crush of tenctacles/other **** mythics every second game means I'll have to play 45 games at least to even get the final goal. So in terms of time invested vs rewards this event is the worst of them all (last event needed around 30 games to get 25 points).

For somebody who gets 50% wins and there's a lot of people out there having such they'd have to play this event 100% time (don't miss a single game) to even get the final goal...

Game is getting a greed fest... Nice going.

Yeah, after a while free players can't even win a decent amount of matches... Eventually ppl will drop off...

    My hopes were vain.
Leader in my group is at 97 I am at 80
(would have been 85 but the best path ever brings crash to me too, never had problems before).

There is no way i can make a decent deck for objectives at the moment.
Two SoI big boxes did not deliver any decent card.

The only improvewnt( not for me specifically) is the stack limit set at 5 that allows for more Liberty about time of play.

I won all my matches so far.

but lose out on the bonus ribbons as I don't have Garruk or the new cards, except for the last white match, which I added an adhoc spirit card. 78/120

but without a dedicated setup, I almost lost the last white match waiting to get the 2nd spirit out. :p
  • I added Welcome to the Fold and Stitchwing Skaab to my Kiora deck, Not Forgotten and Moorland Drifter to my Gideon deck, and Lambholdt Paciifict to my Garruk deck.

I wouldn't play them otherwise, but I'm at 100 points after the first round in Platinum, having lost one match. They're certainly weakening my deck, but they're definitely increasing my chance of winning the event.

It also makes it interesting if you're doing well enough in the game you can use removal on your own guys to stall to try to draw your bonus objective cards, but you really want to make sure to win the game. The balance makes gameplay interesting.

    I still don't like it.

Forcing to play "in a way" it ok-ish.

So taking low damage -> defensively

winning In Less than X rounds - > offensively

Kill X creatures -> controlling(either wig spells or defensive/berserker creatures.

This event objectives instead force you to include specific cards from this expansion...
The very day after the set is released!

A month from now probably most of us will manage to make decent decks that can reliably meet the objective conditions.

Right now you have to weaken your decks to do it.

I know you can win. Of course you can reliably win now.
Just abuse the bug till you face people at absimal rank.
    I don't want to.
  • I'm not resetting opponents if that's what you're talking about with bugs.

I both agree and disagree with the original comment. I was lucky to draw one spirit with delirium and put it in my white deck... I also have one blue madness card... Put it in a blue zombie/ horror deck. I have one green transform werewolf... Put it in my green deck. I haven't been able to hit those bonuses every time... Because enraged speeds things up... But I am currently in first place. With only one of each required card (no rares).

I think they accidentally put zombies for white and vampires for blue when they meant to do it the other way around...

Or it's intended and is a hint of planeswalkers to come!

Heaven forbid we have to change our decks to fit the theme of the event that is giving us free gold crystals and cards.

The objectives aren't even unattainable with vanilla decks. To reach the top ranks you simply have to include a few cards to fit the theme of the expansion.

I for one thought it was interesting. I had one big box purchase, and had no problem finding a few cards to satisfy the requirements.

I dunno this is all about making you want to get SoI cards, such as the tons of blue zombies.

for which I m not too happy with.

got extremely lucky and drew them all ... so there are really nice zombis in Black now.
Running Zombi-reanimation with Liliana now, a bit slow by now but will figure out how to speed it up.

    Yea it is really challenging.

It's so hard crossing my fingers that I draw those cards before I kill opponent.
It's really funny to be slaughtered cause I draw only those subpar cards and I get rushed over

Making particular decks for pve encounter was challenging and fun.
Getting some objective that DO NOT force to draw from a very limited pool(at least for now) was fine.

this event will be fine in a month or so.
At the moment either you got lucky(and I was not with three SoI big boxes) or you are at disadvantage on people that got better stuff that is required beside the fact that playing subpar decks in itself is usually less funny than playing well built ones.
