That statement is only 62.2% accurate.

There is someone with a super-average roster (2 champed 3*s, rest 2*s and an OML with half a dozen covers) who consistently scores very high. It's all about knowing when to shield, when to q the best teams and clearing them quickly before shielding again(hopping). Get on Line, I can get you into the right alliance/rooms which can get you to wherever you want to be.

Pre-Line, I prob got 1k maybe once. Since, I've rarely failed to get 1,300 and have had 2k a couple of times.

The only potential issue is that you may need to spend a bit on HP. It's very doable though, my roster is in 4* transition still...

Really appreciate all the tips. Thanks everyone

How big a difference are the slices? I typically have to pick 4 or 5, and I've noticed a lot higher scores in 4 than 5. I've been in slice 5 once where I was sitting at 1275 and couldn't queue up a single 25 point match before time ran out for the event.

Is there an advantage of joining early vs joining late? I'm more interested in the progression to 1300+ than the lousy 3* covers via placement.

    Again, thanks everyone

Slice 2 is as dry as a chip, so avoid if you're aiming for progression.

Slice 4 is the highest scoring of the slices, followed by Slice 3, then Slice 1, then Slice 5.

Join late if you're aiming for progression, more time for points to build up in the slice.

Slice 3 and 4 seem to be high scores. Slice 1 also can score high. For most people in the US, slice 4 works the best. We have a lot of front runners who get things going (they are the true work horses) and then the rest of us put out cc almost each hop to keep things going. Remember, if you want placement, then you want a slice that doesn't score high. If you want 2k almost each pvp, then you most likely won't place high. Pros and cons...if you are interested in joining slice 4, you can find me on Line by the same name and I'll help get you into the proper rooms.
  • Which slice is best for a mid level 3* guy for placement, all I care is to hit top 25 for both 3* covers.

Best bet if you don't care about progression is late joining roulette. I've had 400 points getting top 50 that way and 600 points getting top 10. I've also had the same points get me top 100 but that's part of the fun.

You want low scoring slices like 5 and 2. The Crewsaders usually own 2, but from what I have heard, they all shield out 24 hours out, meaning if you join that slice, start in the last 24 or later. I know people in my alliance who would join 5 with a 4 star roster who would actually win 1st, but they were in the right chat room to get cc.

s2 for placement for sure. Join last 6-8 hours and just make one big push, maybe using a 3hr shield somewhere for a break. T25 should be reachable by doing this pretty easily. Don't expect ccs in s2 they just don't happen. Also don't expect to hit 1k unless you are rocking champed and boosted 4s, 1.3k requires champed 5s for the most part there. Compare that to s4 and s3 where a 3* roster can easily hit 1.3k but that might not even get you t100 if you join early.
