MtGPQ v1.6 Release Notes (8/11/16)

While I totally agree that Sorin will be a great addition, I don't think he will cost $50 and he will not be even remotely as strong as Kiora.
Why?
In paper his first ability draws a card and deals damage to the opponent equal to the card's mana cost.
This ability will probably deal less damage, but seems okay.
His second ability is kinda like Ajani's. In paper it deals X damage to target creature or planeswalker and heals for X, where X is the loyalty paid.
In PQ they will probably be fixed amounts, but probably same abilty.
His third ability summons a number of 1/1 vampire knights.
If the vampires are allies, it might work kinda like Gideon ally, but in paper they are not.
So, white and black don't have any super strong mythics. To be honest I think black is very weak at the moment. White has some great rares though.
The strongest definitely being an ally deck.
So I think a black/white vampire ally deck will probably be best for Sorin, because most vampires have abilities that trigger upon life gain and white has a lot of life gain. You will have some ally vampires, that buff each other either through life gain or rally and you will have lifelink or something else and a lot of removal.
Of course, we still have to see the new cards, maybe something will change, or maybe I'm missing something really OP because I want to see a cool Sorin vampire deck, but overall, I don't think there is anything as strong as blue/green.
We'll see soon.0 -
The problem with "lifegain vampires" is that it's slow. Many of the effective cards are priced high, and white/black offers no mana acceleration. By the time it's gotten out a Kalastria Healer or Drana's Emissary, Kiora's emptied her hand twice over.0

I think Sorin decks will be very fun, but not nearly as powerful as Kiora. So I don't see any reason for him to cost $50.0 -
They have a Sorin in the introduction that you play. I ought to go back and see if I can get a screenshot of it. I remember it being super OP.0

About Sorin viability we will have to wait and see...
Black is not a strong color as stand alone, but as support color has the best removals.
For mana gain it all depends on his statistics. If those are in line with Garruck and ajani, it could be not that slow.
Also Liliana for istance is an example of how black efficient removal can counterbalance slow mana gain.
You negate the advantage by playing removals much cheaper than the creature they played.0 -

Removal is definitely the strongest side of black. In my Sarkhan deck I'm using red dragons and black removal.
But white too has nice removal, so it would not make sense to combine black and white just for the removal.
I guess we have to see the new set and how exactly they recreate Sorin in the game.0 -
ElectroBlast wrote:Discard: We have unified the Discard keyword so that it is clear and used everywhere. Whenever a card has “Discard 1”, for example, the target of the ability will Discard the last card in their hand.
Is this a good idea, considering there are cards and abilities that make you discard from either end of your hand?
You can unify and clarify the rules by having a fixed template, or phrase, which you use for that ability. You don't have to reduce rules down to a single keyword.
Take a look at how paper MTG goes about templating.0 -

I don't think that means that cards that used to discard the first card in the opponents deck now will discard the last.
That would be lame.
Also, will there be any spoilers like before?
I wanna see some of the new cards.0 -
I was hoping for some preview cards as well, something to give me hints of how the new card functions will work.0

I'm starting to get the feeling it won't be this week0
-
I suppose that if they do not release it befor the current NoP ends, they will when the next NoP ends.0
-
My guess is it'll probably be this weekend, since a maintenance usually accompanies a major update and they tend to like to use a weekend day for that, so as to not mess with QB brackets overmuch.0

They are usually Tuesday or in rare occasions Thursday. So I guess if it is not tomorrow it will be next week, and if they don't post an update today, there won't be a patch tomorrow.0 -
Anyone know if we are going to have more story mode missions with this update?0

ElectroBlast wrote:New Match Rule: Enraged Match!
In keeping with the madness overtaking Innistrad, this match rule doubles all damage on Planeswalkers after 5 turns! This is one that we’re really excited to see out there as it will add a new wrinkle to play and speed things up significantly once the battle becomes Enraged.
It's for all type of match QB and Event or it' new type, or sometime for specific event ?
I hope/pray it's only for some specials events...0 -
