I actually like the idea of gold characters, but most likely not going to level Thor. Give me Cap. What does that make me? Like the people who want a new Darkstalkers but didn't buy the psn port release of the old one? I'm guilty of doing that as well0 -
Worst thing they did since I play the game and I wouldn't like to see any more, if you want to add new version of characters give them different powers.0
-
The thing that bothers me (and I know this was explored in the original lazy Thor thread) was that there were so many other options:
- release a new character (oh, but please lord no. There have been too many of those lately)
- add a third power to all the two power covers
- make the useless characters (Bagman, Yelena, Bag lady) actually useful
- retool existing Thor so that he's 3*, with a 5 cover 2* build equalling a 3 cover 3* build, or similar. So if you have a lvl 85, he's still level 85 but you can now collect more covers to raise him to 141
- create a facility to transfer / combine existing 2* into the new 3*
- other...
Of course, none of those would have required me to spend 450 HP to open up a new roster slot, so I know why they didn't happen...0 -

This isnt really true, because lazythor took significantly less time to roll on than any of these other features. Its not like they spent a ton of time working on lazy thor in place of other features, its more like they spent 1/4th of a day rolling out the character so that they would have more time to work on everything else. You have to instead ask yourself whether or not you would rather have lazythor or no thor.0 -

I know where you're coming from, but I'm not really concerned about dev time. We've had Psylocke and BP in quick succession - we don't NEED another cover so soon. I'd rather the wait time was a bit longer for another change, but when that change was implemented it was more useful in changing / moving the game forward.
So another option I guess would be "do nothing" just now, while developing a different type of change / feature in the background. BP could have been the top tier awards in Hulk, and most of the player base would have been more than happy with that.
I can answer your question in two ways. If everyone else is going to have lazythor, do I want him too? Yes. Did the game need him introduced, or particularly benefit from it? No.0 -

Yeah, i hear you. I just meant to clarify that the alternative was almost assuredly nothing instead of the cool features that you described. We can still be disappointed at the devs for adding a character that doesnt really make improve the game, but his opportunity cost wasnt terribly high.0 -

Exactly. You want to vote, do it with your wallet. See also Wizard's 5th rule http://sot.wikia.com/wiki/Wizard%27s_Rules0 -
In the new Heroic Juggernaut event, Thor (Modern) is the only powered up hero.
To add insult to injury, regular Thor isn't even playable in this event.0 -
I'm not hating on the devs for adding him. It was a test run and probably seemed like a great idea from the business side.
Just wanting to make it clear that I disapprove of this becoming the regular.0 -
Xalthim wrote:I have a related question. Seems to me that Patch is basically a gold version of Astonishing Wolverine. Should I keep the 2* wolvie now that I have a maxed Patch? Not sure I see the point of keeping him when I could use his ISO to level up someone else.
Though I dropped much on using **Wol, he's pretty different character and not just a smaller version of Patch. He's definitely worth to keep, and really would deserve more play on my part . And if he happens to be buffed anywhere even just by those regular 40ish levels hat is a real kickass. (The doubled version in his own tournament was not even fun, 1-shoting anyone for puny 12R.)
Also he fits in way more teams, Patch needs serious support to work well and just used in random way has more chance to kill you rather than the opponent.0 -
Just checked to make sure, in Heroic Juggernaut Patch is a locked character while Wolverine is not. Makes little sense but hey. Glad I didn't delete modern Black Widow when freeing a slot for lazyThor and deleted 3 black Bullseye instead.0

The game is still missing a 'dumb tank' kind of character at 3* so I don't mind having another person there even if it's Thor. Right now, you got Black Panther which has a rather weird mix of abilities. IM40 is relatively useless with some utility on the side. Hulk is basically only a threat when he's the last person left. It wouldn't be bad to have a tank character that can do something besides standing there as long as the damage done by the said character isn't too high. So far we still don't know his level 141 maxed stats are but I'm worried it'll be too high. If his green hits a guy for 4K and rest for 2K, that's way too good for a tank for 14 green. Most 3* can't even hit a single guy for 4000 with 14 AP, and Thor also has way more HP than the average 3*. If it did say 2500 to one guy and 1250 to rest, that'd be inline with being weaker than 3* (14g for 2500 is relatively weak when considering 14g is still a lot to get) while getting you a character that can at least contribute something beyond just standing there like Hulk.0

We r gonna be able to make a good ragnarok comparison now and hopefully that gets rags bumped up the line for a 3rd.0 -
I'm not earning the covers or levelling him up
my motives are pure0 -
I earned the new Thor, but he does strike me as lazy in the design department. I was pleased to see his new nickname here in the forums. I do hope this isn't a new trend for characters. I also hope they change out his powers/colors at a later date, or those of the tier 2 Thor, so they no longer match.0

That's not a joke.
This is a joke.
If the joke was to have me tap the image if an "image" button like 10 times then well played.0 -
I agree with the original posting. People will probably get him and level him (especially considering his power level), but it still feels like a copout where there should be a different skillset (even if he stayed in the same role, playwise).0
