Will you miss the big guy?
So right now The Hulk Event is about to end. What are your thoughts on this? Is it still your favourite event the 2nd time around?
As with all these 10 day events i wished they would just last a week.10 days is too long when you consider we already had the brotherhood and simulator. Make it a week long event and it would be much better.
It got too tedious near the end. I stopped playing on day 7. Maybe if there were more progression rewards i would have kept going. I liked the iso rewards and was able to max out a couple heroes just from this tourney alone so that was good.
The scaling is a tough one but i think there was a definite improvement overall.

Scaling was improved from before. But I agree it's still too long at 10 days. I was at around #300 at day 6 but then I got bored of fighting the same Dark Avengers over and over again so I pretty much stopped playing.0
-
It was pretty long, though I don't think they can actually shorten The Hulk much. There are 8 sections of sub-events (though 2 of them are going on at the same time) and a conclusion. I can't see them making it any shorter than 8-9 days without cutting out content.
It seems like they are kind of moving towards a schedule of 10 days PvE, 4 days off in two week cycles. I suspect they see participation drop off significantly when there isn't a PvE around - likely primarily from the more casual crowd (nobody on this forum), where 'burn out' isn't really a problem. It's an interesting thing to balance.0 -
I think the event itself wasn't too tedious.
The fact that it was the third in a back-to-back-to-back string of weeklong PvE events made it less appealing.0 -
I would like for PvE to be happening constantly; but I would also like for the events to be more in the 5 day range. Even 7 seems too long. I'd also like them to de-emphasize the competitive aspect. Not eliminate it entirely, but make it less prominent. More working together toward a common goal, less spreadsheeting the refreshes/ rubberbanding to achieve maximum rank.0
-
Featured events looks downright naked now with only one box.0
-
I enjoyed this event both times, but maybe more so this go round. (possibly because I understand rubberbanding better than I did for first time)
With a levelled 2* roster, but a not so strong 3*, it was nice having OBW and Thor buffed this go round -- I used them almost every fight. Didn't have a Black Panther on my roster, but still managed to make it to the final progression reward.
Scaling seemed a bit more reasonable than previous events too.
I think the devs got it right.0 -
I've always enjoyed the hulk events. Aside from Ares, it's been the most profitable PvE I've been apart of.0
-
I thought this one lasted too long, especially when I passed the final progression with 4-5 days left to go. The day that really burned me out was the one with the four sub-events. I managed to get two covers from each event, but that required a ridiculous amount of time. And when all was said and done, I got lousy pulls. Actually, for all the Standard and Heroic covers I got during the entire Hulk event, I may have gotten two three stars -- one IM40 and one Ares, and the IM40 was in a standard draw. I could probably wallpaper a house with the number of Modern Hawkeye and Classic Storm covers pulled.0

The only problem is that the final set of missions are repeatable so you have some kind of death march scenario for the guys who are on the edge of the tiers. The overall scaling is a bit out of whack toward the end but it's probably unavoidable as long as Spiderman isn't nerfed (it's got to be that hard or the Spiderman teams would never get slowed down at all). They really should reduce the number of stacks per node if it's commonly going to scale up to level 230 though. It doesn't make any difference for the ultra competitive guys because they'd be fighting over a difference of 5 points, but it'd be a lot less grinding for everyone else.0

I'll miss it like I'd miss a case of crabs.
No more ten day events. For the love of Ganesh.0 -

Scaling is still a bit odd cos people still see lots of different levels for the main missions.
Mine had some missions dropping to below level 200 only to go up to 230 in a few minutes, and then went down lowered again few minutes later. I'm not talking about 30 minutes, but this happened like every 5 minutes or so.0 -
The scaling got a bit out of hand towards the end of the event, but for most of it, I thought it was a marked improvement over the previous few PvE events. The final deathmarch was seriously brutal, though...a combination of scaling and plans with friends made me miss out on the last *refresh* of the last day, and I dropped from top 100 to out of the top 200. I'd have liked the green X-Force; it would have taken me to 1/1/1.
Granted, I'd likely have a different view if I'd not played as much over the course of the event, and was hoping for the final day's nodes to get me to another couple of progression rewards, but a rather large number of us blew through the entire list with a day or two left in the event, and that sapped a lot of interest in grinding just to maintain placement.0 -
I enjoyed the event and the scaling seemed okay to me (not brilliant mind you).
But wow.... 10 days of trying to be top 3333? Gave up on that day 6 ish, but happy to have a new cover in the roster, and the 450 slot charge was just about made up by 10 days worth of eventing0 -
Good:
- lots of ISO,
- 3 Punisher covers
- 2 Thor 3* covers.
Bad:
- too long
- no themed tokens on heroics, opened 13 just an hour ago:
2x Green CStorm (already maxed)
2x Black OWB (already maxed)
Green Thor 2* (already maxed)
Green Wolverine 2* (already maxed)
Yellow Wolverine 2* (already maxed)
Purple Moonstone
Red Moonstone
Red Cap (red maxed)
Blue Bag Man
Yellow Bag Man
Red MN Magneto (already maxed)0 -
I give it a hearty thumbs-up, since it was perhaps my most productive event ever without grinding - I've never got all the point achievements in an event before!0

I enjoyed it, but would have been happier with a 5-6 day event. I'm generally not a fan of the way the game is set up just now to reward the people with the most free time. It's an interesting (and unwelcome to me) dynamic to take the casual match three mechanic and marry it to an ultra-grindfest. There's a better balance that could be struck if the set-up wasn't skewed towards people having to burn health packs / HP / boosts to place well, and hopefully pay money to replenish those when they are short.
(Yes, I know we all have a choice. But the Eco system of the game is that if you don't get the latest covers, you'll be locked out of future content / opportunities. So you're incentivised to keep up the daily grind, because if you stop you'll feel like you're falling behind in way more than just ISO accumulation and character levelling.)
However, I like the event. I like the story, and I'm nostalgic for my first run through which netted me my first Hulks. I'm now 5/4/3, so it was less useful in that way, but it's still a fun event, and I like the structure of the story and the variety of the subs.
I placed top 3333, which required a consistent 3-4 hours a day over ten days. That's way too much, IMHO. Enough so that I will like commit far less to the next PvE.
Still, got a tonne of ISO to pump into a bunch of my 3*s, three Punisher covers that I needed from progression, and a load of tokens that netted me one or two useful covers, including a 4* Wolvie from a Heroic this morning.0 -
Won't miss him one little bit, hope he never comes back again.
This event is one hideous grind. Even with the new scaling you still needed to be grinding every 8 hours to maintain the pace, and with 5 stacks per mission and 2 or more subs open all the time, you are forced to grind at least 6 hours a day if you want to top the event.
TaT had only 2 stacks, which was a much healthier use of time. Simulator had more stacks, but the missions were harder, so you didn't need to complete as many to be competitive.
But with Hulk it felt like everyone was completing everything, and it was just pain. It didn't help that it was just Dark Avengers as opponents again, and I've already seen the storyline twice so there wasn't anything to look forward to.0 -

It seems like a "been there done that" type of thing, especially since they puked out a 3* Thor that is just a copy of 2* Thor.
Grinding and getting 20 ISO half the time really isn't fun.0
