I beat it with a Koth Eldrazi deck that came down to the wire.

We were both in single digits, he had lethal next turn-- and then Inverter of Truth's ability killed Kozilek at the beginning of his turn, and I won.

Then got the very Mythic as a reward that lost my opponent the game.

    Delicious irony, indeed.
I imagine kozilek raging, like "f**k this garbage card you can have it" XD

    Hahaha, basically. icon_e_biggrin.gif

I finally beat Kozilek using Chandra but it was very close. I was sweating at the end with 4 life. I felt like pulling my hair out when I had Kozilek down to 3 life and planned on finishing him my next turn with Chandra's first ability. Of course, Kozilek plays his angel the next turn and gains ten life! And the turn after that! I was thinking ****! Lol. Turn Against won it for me. It was a heck of a fight.

    My deck:
    Creatures-
    Volcanic rambler
    Embermaw hellion
    Scab-clan berserker
    Iroa's champion

    Spells-
    Exquisite firecraft
    Ravaging blaze
    Scour from existence
    Demolish
    Turn against
    Sure strike

I had to try like 80 times with every PW and deck I could think of. I finally beat it with Chandra and my old reliable Omnath. I was on the verge of giving up. I get the board set up and he would octopus me. I have the board set up and hit me two times in a row with the kill a card and discard two cards.

One time I had the board setup and hit octopus me with the reinforce support on the board so he had a 32/32 octopus kicking my but.

But I finally got an Omnath big enough to crush him.

    OK I am beyond frustrated.

I've been playing this game since close to the beginning.
It's annoying that some of the basic Red rares such as Equisite Firecraft have never come up to me in packs and I have spent $$$ on this game.

The decks listed so far, I dont have all the cards which is frustrating.

I'm ready to throw the phone across the room. I've tride both Gideons, Chandra, Ob Nixlis and Jace.

    Some help please.

I feel your pain. It took me 80 tries. Here is what I think you need to do this:

    - A pumpable creature. I used Omnath. But everywhere I read people used one.
    - Some creature destroy. The hex proof guy is going to take beserker to kill it or a defender.
    - Support destory. There are a couple of bad ones you can't let him have.
    - Prevent damage or gain life. At some point creature control will fail and you need to deal with taking damage.

    - And the most important LUCK. You got to start off good and he has to start off bad. He needs to waste time casting support while you are setting up the board. And then you need him not to cast the octopus card or the one that destroys a creature and discard cards. And that stupid support that reinforces a creature when cast.

    A couple of tips:
If he has sucky creatures in play (ok I realize that is relative but it matters) and you can prevent or take the damage leave them there for a bit. I never seen him sacrifice a creature for a better one in his hand.

Do not play your supports until you got the creatures to go with them unless they are mana gains. He will cascade and destroy them.

Play as if that stupid tyrannt creature is going to come into play. He does 6 damage to all. So keep a copies filled up in your hand or make sure the creatures you leave out are bigger than six.

But I hate to say this again it takes alot of luck. You have to get a creature out there and pump it up so it can take 6 points of damage like 2 or 3 times. Then you have to avoid the octopus and the destroy creature and discard card. You have to start fast and him slow.

I got close with white using a first strike blocker and lifelink creature and one that gives you +1/+1 if you gain life. I had the guy up to like 25/25 and he octopus me. I gave up with that and went with Omnath in a green deck. The mana was fast but I could not get the creature control to work and no direct damage to stop some of the creatures.

So I ended up with Omnath in a red deck with Chandra. She can spam destroy blocks ( yes it should not be 3 loyalty) she can damage all creatures and the red creatures are better at creature control than green.

But you are going to have to have good rares and mythic. I got lucky and opened a pack with tyrannt in it. And used it to be the tyrannt level. Sweet revenge there. But that card is a big plus killing off his creatures.

I am sorry if this wasn't much help or you knew all this but it does come down to luck and good cards.

Yea no Omnath. I must have the worst luck for buying packs. Like I said, I've not gotten even the basic mythics and rares that everyone seems to have and I've spent money and lots of crystals to buy.

guess I will keep on trying.

Iroa's Champion is my MVP every time - with Gideon I, LUCK, and Enshrouding Mist, I only took a few damage - I had a backup Smite, Iroa, and Enshrouding Mist ready for Tentacle - lather, rinse, repeat

If you're using disable/removal decks as in Gideon or Ajani, Encircling Fissure is the only spell than can disable creatures with HEX Proof. After casting Encircling Fissure, all HEX proofed creatures can be dealt with cards like Smite the monstrous, Swift Reckoning and Roil's Retribution. Without Encircling Fissure it will be very difficult if she casts that creature giving HEX at the wrong time for you.

The new purple rare spell, Remorseless Punishment may be bugged. When creatures have HEX, that spell does not blink red to signify that it wont work and at the same time it does not get cast. I have the impression that it was supposed to work even on HEX creatures like Rolling Thunder does.

Each time there are no more moves and the board reshuffles, the game freezes forcing you to close the app. this happened to me 3 times in a row.

I beat the final boss with Jace. Somehow I have 0 mythic for Jace, but 3 rares.
My deck used Mizzium Meddler combined with Brawler's Plate, and Harbinger of Tides. The technique is to buildup Jace's Third ability as soon as possible to deny the Boss casting anything. The oversized Mizzium + Brawler's plate is to kill any creature the boss may spawns. With Jace third ability cast, it takes few rounds before the boss is able to cast something.

Remorseless is Indeed not working well in that case but I can see why.
The spell checks if opponent has creature, so enters the "kill creature version". After that the spell alnowledges to have no valid target cause it has hexproof so you cannot cast it.
This is not working as expected of course but I am not sure it is a bug...
To fix the card they should at least change the description.

Beat it after around the fifth time using Gideon Z. This was a tough battle where I was effectively racing Kozilek with Lantern Scout-Serene Steward lifelinks while my Knight Ally tokens did the brunt of the damage. A good board state helps immensely (I actually quit 2-3 games immediately because my starting hand was horrible) but once I got the board I needed, I just won it albeit at a very small victory margin (I had around 10 HP remaining).

After beating Tyrant with this deck, i decided to try my level 33 Kiora Noyan Champion deck and beat it after a few goes!

    Undergrowth Champion
    Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper

    Coastal Discovery
    Stratus Walk
    Seek The Wilds
    Talent of the Telepath
    Mantle of Webs
    Exert Influence
    Crush of Tentacles

    Mirrorpool

Yay! Pumped a flying Undergrowth Champ to keep it alive at around 8-10 power, stole a Tyrant for a while, and banked all the mana in offline spells waiting for the resets or a large drop. Beat back his super angel with a well timed mantle of webs to kill it after being reinforced twice. Saved up my own CoT whilst waiting for his, then surfed 32/32 octopuses and 20/20 Noyan to victory. So sweet!

I'm not sure You guys are helping people much posting decks with a few mythics and several rares. People with such decks have little to no trouble beating any event encounter. Much better idea would be to post cheap deck ideas capable of beating it to actually help newer people because right now this thread looks more like a boasting arena than a helpful one...

Agree with this idea - I always really liked the "Building on a Budget" series of articles. Maybe we could get an official thread going under deck strategies?
