I beat Inverter and World Breaker by falling back on standard Gideon Cheese:

    Serene Steward
    War Oracle
    Consul's Lieutenant
    Enlightened Ascetic
    Ondu Greathorn

    Enshrouding Mist
    Smite the Monstrous
    Scour from Existence

    Knightly Valor
    Murder Investigation

Once you get a large defending Lieutenant, you're pretty unbeatable. It did take forever, though. At one point he chain-cast three Nissa's Renewals and set my efforts back by 60 life. By the end, my Lieutenant was something like 41/40.

Your luck was better than mine.... When I got my Lieutenant up to 20/20 the enemy played some card which removed it from play.... Twice in the same game.

I was playing my Tezzeret deck, and just started turning it around when I had to go to work. Sadly......

Finally got a chance to beat inverter of truth, I finished it with a 125/125 thopter to the face lol he was at 6 life by that point. Nothing like a little over kill to make my 8 health feel better. Its not too bad if you can keep Ayli off the field, she's scary with that much mana gain......
  • I beat IoT and WB. Both with a black deck on Liliana's part.

    Setup:
    Revenant
    Priest of the Blood Rite
    Scour from Existence
    Dust Stalker
    Dark Petition
    Fleshbag Marauder
    Grip of Desolation
    Gold-Forged Sentinel
    Cruel Revival*
    Tainted Remedy*
*Replaced with Carrier Thrall and Orbs of Warding, depending if I need to slow life burn on me and need a good defender

The trick was using Scour and Grip to pop what monsters they played early on, get Loyalty built, and then pop Liliana's level 1 ability to carefully bleed out the opponent's hand. Since they ran high cost cards with high gain, it was risky. But if it looked like I could pop their lead card and bottom card at the right time, I could get into a state where I totally controlled the field. I made sure to fully fill a Scour or Grip at the top of my hand and dump what cards for her level 1 ability. If it got to a point where I could use the lv 3 effect to fill the field with my sacrificed creatures, it helps. Revenant and Priest offered double-summons, though Priest was risky with its Trap effect taking 4 life per mana pop. Fleshbag is a good cast IMO...I could offer a Priest, kill the enemy's bottom creature, take away the Trap effect and still have a 5/5 demon to attack with, along with a 5/3 to join next go. Dust Stalker combined with Gold-Forged Sentinel are a good combo at times. Dark Petition's good for getting that needed card revival. Cruel Revival's a risky card, but I wanted another destruct card and it works with Fleshbag Marauder, so even if I discard one to the graveyard or lose one, this can get it back for me.

I've started collecting the info for all the battles here.

If people could post in that thread what cards they've seen in each battle as well as the prizes they've gotten for the objectives I'd greatly appreciate it.

i forgot which story mission in chapter 1 gave me the rare, but i got the rare blue frog which i already have. last guy from chapter one i got a ogw 5pack where i got one rare and the rest uncommon duplicates

Was it Deepfathom Skulker? I got a red OGW rare, so it might give a random OGW rare, which would be boss.

yup ive gotten so many of them lately, sigh

Tyrant of Valakut is the one I'm stuck on. Anyone have any advice? Or do you just have to get extremely lucky?

i beat him with my lvl 60 nissa by using a greenwarden murasa, hangerback walker reclaim combo, creating a huge thopter and buffing it with mantle of webs to kill everything he has. also helps to have both nissas renewal and revelation for health/mana/draw

What is a good crowd control card for Nissa or Koth?

    I used a black reanimator.
Fight took a while but I was in control from start to finish basically.
  • I went blue with bounce on inverter of truth, oh you want to play with void gems... Murk Strider. Cheap bounce just kept bouncing everything eventually got out Thopter Spy Network rode my thopters to victory, when you are drawing close to 3 cards per turn you find enough defense.

I got lucky on the last one though, took a ton of damage waited to get out 3 Consul's Lieutenant and used gideons final ability turns out an 18 damage first striker with beserker can kill eldrazi pretty easy.
  • Okay, contradictive to my prior post, after realizing I had to adjust the deck a bit to allow for not using Defenders and to get 10 or more creatures sacked and keep a better level of control, here's my tweaked deck (Black with Liliana, lv 60)

    Revenant
    Priest of the Blood Rite
    Scour from Existence
    Dust Stalker
    Fleshbag Marauder
    Grip of Desolation
    Gold-Forged Sentinel
    Cruel Revival
    Carrier Thrall*
    Undead Servant
*Replace with Chief of the Foundry or some cheap, well powered creature

The trick here is destruction and control. I realized that Cruel Revival thrived on having Zombies in the graveyard (and exiling them doesn't put them in the graveyard). So with Fleshbag and Undead, I had the zombies needed that could thrive with that card, where I'd get a free kill and get to bring one of them back to my hand (plus Fleshbag's sack one to kill one or Undead's free spawn of a zombie help). Carrier Thrall is there to fulfill the need for a Defender and to offer up to the lose 10 or more monsters catch more easily, but can change out to win the game without Defender if you toss in a cheap and strong attacker (like Chief of the Foundry or something equivalent).

Otherwise, the idea here is to keep a cycle of control. Lv 1 ability to empty the opponent's hand when it looks like they could get close to playing a monster card, dump zombies or heavy-cost cards into the graveyard, use cards like Grip and Scour and CR to destroy enemy cards, fill the field with decent attackers and whittle down the enemy's life slowly...it works when you get a little luck.

Using this helped me slowly work my way through IoT and WB and complete all their objectives. Heck, I even managed to keep from getting my life hit once.

I played Chandra all the way through the event until Tyrant of Valakut - just make sure you prioritize match 5 black gems and look for cascade opportunities.

    Level 60 Chandra

    Avaricious Dragon
Magmatic Insight (this causes cascades galore on the newly drawn cards)

    Act of Treason
Fiery Conclusion (kills high defense creatures)

    Embermaw Hellion
    Iroa's Champion
Infectious Bloodlust (kills everything on the ground or rapidly kills the opponent)

    Volcanic Rambler (cascades!)

    Exquisite Firecraft
    Ravaging Blaze (burn baby BURN!!!)

Yeah... My highest PW level is Kiora at 30.

Im not passing this challenge i think. I dont have access to the higher level / efficiency abilities, or enough life to withstand the early game. Plus I'm missing one or more key cards in the suggested decks people are posting.

    Very frustrating.

So I was throwing a few decks at world breaker, Chandra and Tezzeret failed sadly, but my Jace awakening/bounce deck did very well until it froze! I had the stupid thing down to 40 life, this took for freaking ever!

Edit: finally got it, but you will love this, I opened my OGW booster pack and pulled 4 strider harnesses and Jori En. Today has thoroughly pissed me off.
I am once again reminded why I never buy anything for this game.

Ok! Finally! Level 26 Jace with this deck worked:

    Murk Strider
    Ulamog's Despoiler
    Harbinger of Tides

    Rush of Ice
    Talent of the Telepath
    Adverse Conditions
    Anchor to the Aether
    Turn to Frog

    Prism Array
    Claustrophobia

Note: Prism Array does fire off nearly every round, but not always. Often find the card drawing is wasted though as I'd rather use Ingenuity to bring back another spell. Retreat to Coralhelm is cheaper, but not as good as Prism Array.

Ended the battle with 36/56 life.

Strategy as follows: lock down their first creature with Prism Array / Claustrophobia. Do NOT bounce this creature or use Turn to Frog once you have locked it. Save your disable spells for when you can't bounce the third creature. Turn one of the other creatures into a frog, bouncing the other. Most likely, IoT will try to recast that same creature, so make sure it has no "enter the battlefield" effects if you can.

    Hope these notes help.

Wrote the original post on my phone while walking, so it was brief.

I used a lvl 31 Gideon AoZ, and mainly Spammed his Lvl 2 Ability.

My deck has been changed since then,

    Resolute Blademaster
    Kor Entangler
    Lantern Scout
    Kor Bladewhirl
(really doesn't matter much, since you are pretty much churning with 3 cards)

    Unified Front
    Smite the monstrous
    Scour from Existance
    (random Buff)

    Quarantine Zone

Really most of it doesn't matter.
All you need is the quarantine zone early. Smite anything that gets through, and spam Gideons knight ally summon ability.
Does not work at all for world breaker once it gets it's gembreaker ability charged.

I try multiple decks for work breaker, all 31, Nissa with Oran rief hydra, colossus, great aurora. Was able to get it to 100 before the Nissa spam.
Gideon heart link worked. Beat it soundly this afternoon. Got Tyrant, Return of Koz, and jori en in the pack. Not bad.
